Introducing "The... Open": It's all in the name
There's always something interesting about a new tournament, be it a new format, structure, or the addition of a gimmick to turn a tournament on its head. This time though it's all in the name - or your name to be specific.
Inspired by the work of Team Online's Lex Veldhuis last month, when he reached the final table three times within a week, we're renaming a $11 buy-in, $5,000 guaranteed prize pool contest "The Open". But we hope the name changes soon, and often. Here's why.
"The Open" is just its provisional name. If you can come close to Lex and reach the final table twice within the same week, we'll name the tournament after you. The Open will become "The (whatever your name is) Open". A small piece of immortality in a corner of the PokerStars tournament lobby.

It all started on Monday 5 September. The... open has a buy-in of $11 and a guaranteed $5,000 in the prize pool. It's hold'em all the way and, given that the field in this event regularly tops 500, we've made two appearances at the final table enough to have your name in lights, rather than Lex's three. Your name will stay there for as long as it takes someone to equal your performance.
Sure, the guaranteed prize pool means you'll get a decent pay day, but the bragging rights go through the roof.
As of Thursday September 9, 2016 The Open is currently called The Bookmaker_85 Open. They beat a field of 949 players to win the event that day, then reached seventh place a day later.
