Manila Megastack 5: Main Event Final Day resumes with 108 gunners

MM5 Day 1b Field 2.jpgAfter the completion of two day one flights at the Manila Megastack 5 Main Event hosted by PokerStars Live Manila, only 108 players out of the combined 478 entries will be returning today to the Grand Ballroom of City of Dreams Manila for the final battle to the finish. All these players will be surely be pumped up as they head to the felt with one mission to tackle, to claim the massive first place cash prize of P2,392,350 plus a seat to the upcoming Asia Pacific Poker Tour 10 Manila (APPT).

Entering the Final Day as the overall chip leader is Chinese Taipei's Shih Chieh Su with 367,000 chips. Su amassed his chips in Day 1b. Right at his coattails in second rank is Day 1a's chip leader, Chinese Taipei's Hao Che Luo with 345,500 chips.

This installment of the Manila Megastack series was truly one for the books, delivering much more than advertised and much more than expected. There was a record-breaking 220 entries at Main Event Day 1a, the largest starting flight for the series since its introduction last year. Combine it with the 258 Day 1b entries, this produced the largest field ever seen for the Manila Megastack. Topping those record-breaking numbers was the incredibly massive P10,432,350 prize pool, easily surpassing the P6M guarantee.

With only 45 players seeing a profit today, this will mean that more than half of the players in the field will be walking away empty-handed. Players such as Russia's Andrei Dementev, China's Yongqi Ren, China's Po Han Huang, along with many others, will have their work cut out today as they will be entering the day with short stacks needing a big boost.

We will have live updates on the Final Day action so be on the lookout for that. You can also read up on the action of the previous days and view the chip counts of all the day's qualifiers.

In addition to the Main Event Final Day, there are two side events on tap, the 6-Max at 1230pm with a buy-in fee of P6,000 and a P100,000 entry fee NLH event at 1pm. Later in day two satellites will be up and running, the Qualifier to APPT 10 Manila Satellite at 5pm with an entry fee of P2,000, and at 7pm, the APPT 10 Manila Satellite with a P10,000 entry fee.
