London to host first PokerStars Festival of 2018
London has always been a kind of hotspot for live poker, never more so than at The Hippodrome, where PokerStars returns early next year to kick off the PokerStars calendar.
The PokerStars London Festival is the first Festival of the 2018 PokerStars calendar, coming just days after the PCA, and featuring a £500,000 guaranteed Main Event.
Last year this event proved to be a record breaker, with 944 players competing for a prize pool of more than £824,000. Rehman Kassam emerged a winner, taking home a first prize of £89,320 in a two-way deal with second placed Daniel Harwood, who took home even more, earning £95,000.
We plan on more of the same this year as once more The Hippodrome does what it does best.
We've written about how much we like The Hippodrome, which is slap bang in the middle of London's West End, so many times before that I'm typing this paragraph with my eyes closed. Needless to say there's nowhere else like it. A converted theatre, with great bars, a fabulous restaurant, and a spectacular playing area. In short, it's a great place to play a poker tournament; it's a great place to get knocked out of a poker tournament.
In addition to the Main Event, there are a series side events to suit all bankrolls.
PokerStars Festival Main Event: January 24-28, 2018 - £990 - (£500,000 guaranteed)
Super Deep Stack: January 22-24, 2018 - £170
PokerStars Festival High Roller: January 23-24, 2018 - £2,200
London Cup: January, 27-28, 2018 - £330
PL Omaha Double Chance: January 28, 2018 - £220
Entry into the Festival's Main Event is £990, but as well as registering on the day you can win your way into the event in one of our satellites, running each Sunday from December 5, through to December 19, each with a £109 buy-in. They'll also be feeders into these satellites, details of which can be found in the tournament lobby in the next few days.
For now you can check out details on the PokerStars London Festival homepage.
