PokerStars Championship to return to Sochi in 2018
This week PokerStars is in Sochi for the PokerStars Festival. Well today we're announcing a new event for the 2018 calendar, with the PokerStars Championship Sochi, taking place next March.
The event will take place over ten days in what is one of Russia's premier holiday resorts, with a series of events, highlighted by the RUB 192,000 (approx. $3,322) Main Event with a guaranteed RUB 150,000,000 (approximately US$2,600,000) in prize money.
"It's great to see PokerStars return to Sochi for a third time, it shows that there's a real appetite from players for a world-class event in the area", said Team PokerStars Pro Igor Kurganov. "The venue is beautiful and there's plenty to do away from the felt. I can't wait to ski early in the day and play poker as après-ski. It will be an incredible stop!"
The Festival runs from 16-25 March 2018 and will feature a variety of tournaments alongside the Main Event.
PokerStars National Championship: Featuring unlimited re-entries, this runs from March 20-24, and has a buy in of RUB 66,000 (approx. US$1,142)
PokerStars Championship Sochi: A single entry per starting day event running from March 23-29. The buy in is RUB 192,000 (approx. $3,322). This tournament features a RUB 150,000,000 (approx. $2,500,000) guarantee.
High Roller: A single re-entry event running from March 27-29 with a buy-in of RUB 617,000 (approx. $10,674)
Sochi Cup: Unlimited re-entries and a buy-in of RUB 19,000 (approx. US$329). This event runs from March 27-29.
As well as a tournament schedule that appeals to a broad range of bankrolls, Sochi offers a stunning venue, both inside the Sochi Casino and Resort, and outside, with its backdrop of Olympian terrain, as well as the vibrant city life on the Black Sea coast.
It's one of PokerStars' newest stops, and one of its most fascinating.
