The best of the best gather for PokerStars All Stars

Our new cash game series PokerStars All Stars, which runs from April 12 to May 10, will feature many of the very best cash game players in the world, battling across $1/$2 and $10/$20 rake-free cash tables! It's invitation-only, which means that only the best current online players - as judged on their performance over the past 12 months - will compete for the cash, the bragging rights and $100,000 in leaderboard prizes.

"Online poker's brief history includes highlights of high-stakes online cash game battles between legendary players like Isildur1, Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan," said Severin Rasset, Director of Poker Innovation and Operations. "We're looking forward to pitting the best of the next generation of cash-game players against each other in a rake-free environment, and seeing who comes out on top. It's going to be an incredible experience for the players, but it's going to be a real show for poker fans too!"

This promotional series promises to be quite a spectacle. The world's best players have been invited to play on the special rake-free tables, so expect the action to get intense as the players battle it out for the top spot in All Stars Season 1. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu plans to host a weekly highlights show that we'll be streaming so railbirds can get their All Stars fix on Twitch.com/PokerStars or by tuning in for action via the PokerStars client under the Home Games area which can be accessed via selecting 'More' on the right-hand side toolbar.

The top-five biggest winners in the All Stars games will receive cash prizes of up to $20,000 on top of what they've won in the games. The top-ten biggest winners in the Masters games will receive leaderboard cash prizes of up to $7,000. The leaderboards will be updated daily so railbirds can keep track of what's happening and the players can see what they need to do to lock up a prize. There will also be prizes for the players who put in the most volumes across the two levels.

Poker All Stars like 'OtB_RedBaron' and 'Lottenice' have already registered, and both are among the early leaderboard favourites. However, as you'd expect, the field is stacked with top talent - and there is still time for other players to register.

We caught up with All Stars player 'Go0se.core!' who is registered to play on the $10/$20 tables, to ask him about the upcoming challenge...

Congratulations on the invite 'Go0se.core!' How are you feeling about the All Stars challenge and what are you most looking forward to?

Go0se.core!: I'm definitely excited about All Stars! It's going to be great for me to watch and compete against the guys that I looked up to when I started playing poker. I'm hoping to see the likes of 'Sauce123' and others playing NLHE again. I know there will be some guys that battle all day and it will be interesting to see who else steps in to take them on.

Even over a month there will be a lot of variance involved, so I expect the good players who put in the most volume to have the best chance. I would expect to see 'OtB_RedBaron' and 'LlinusLlove' playing a lot of hands as they are already battling a lot and I know it's very important for them to be considered the best."

Fedor Holz recently called you the 'Best player in the game right now' - does that put any extra pressure on you?

Go0se.core!: Well, Fedor is referring to the whole of NLHE, which includes tournament play with short stacks, ICM-considerations and exploiting weak players. However, All Stars is about 60bb+ cash game skills, which is a small part of the whole thing. I don't feel any extra pressure and I am not driven by ego at all. I'm looking forward to playing in the All Stars but I will be tactical about when I jump in. I hope there are lots of opportunities to play interesting line-ups which will help me to learn and progress as a player!

The invitations have already been issued for All Stars Season 1. If you've received one, make sure you register now as accreditation is required and you don't want to miss any of the action. If you think you should have had an invite, check your inbox again - you might have missed your email. If you haven't received an invite this year, there's still plenty to look forward to.

The All Stars tables can be found in the Home Games section of the PokerStars client, where you'll find some of the best online cash game action of the year. Look out for the All Stars Tables ($10/$20 games) and the Masters Tables ($1/2) and join the party from the rail by tuning in via the PokerStars client under the Home Games area which can be accessed via selecting 'More' on the right-hand side toolbar.

PokerStars All Stars Season 1 takes place April 12 - May 10.
