Weekend Warm-Up: From the week on PokerStars
From the week on PokerStars...
• Marbella crowns two winners
• Celebrate Discord at PokerStars
• Royal Ascot sends one man to PokerStars Festival Lille
PokerStars Festival Marbella
There was no doubting the big news this week. (The) PokerStars Festival Marbella came to a close, with the Main Event won by Ignacio López. That made him the third Spaniard to win the tournament, one ahead of UK players.
Meanwhile in the High Roller 20-year old Oriol Fernández, another Spaniard, took first prize to close off the week in Marbella, which among other highlights included this interview with former snooker World Champion turned PokerStars Ambassador Stephen Hendry.
Royal Ascot sends one player to PokerStars Festival Lille
We don't normally talk horses on the PokerStars Blog, except when saddling them up to use in bad analogies, but there was some added incentive for 14 PokerStars players to cheer home the winner at Royal Ascot last week in The Big Race promotion.
Working with BetStars, the promotion's big prize was a trip to a PokerStars Festival, where guaranteed prize pools would turn an initial stake of $2 into the chance of life changing money.
The winner, well that was a horse called Big Orange, but the player "on" that horse was Tony Rogers, from Burgess Hill, UK. He's on his way to PokerStars Festival Lille which starts in about two weeks' time. We'll have details of his progress when the festival gets under way.
Discord has arrived at PokerStars. Take five seconds to make your joke now.... I'll wait.
What that means is a Discord freeroll, and another way to guarantee your seat to the PokerStars Championship Barcelona coming up in August.
As Lee Jones wrote this week, this new platform for e-Gaming discussion and voice chat and to celebrate our presence we're giving away five seats to Barcelona this weekend.
There are a few steps to go through to gain entry into these events, but nothing that should put off anyone familiar with Discord, or anything like that. Follow each of them and we'll see you in Barcelona.
To get the bigger picture, and those details, read Lee Jones' article here.
That's all from the week on PokerStars. Good luck at the tables this weekend. Want to get in touch? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
