Power Up gets real money launch
The big news from the week was the launch of real money Power Up, the brand-new game from PokerStars.
As Brad Willis put it: "This, folks, is the basis for Power Up, a new immersive poker game that turns normal traditional strategy on its head and gives players a chance to think about poker in a whole new way."
Check out those details to get started. Let us know what you think.
Poker in The Ears
The latest episode of the podcast - featuring Barry Greenstein - is out there.
"Plenty of poker action to recap this week. James played in the #LondonSeries at The Hippodrome, while Joe recently spent an evening grinding the Sundays on PokerStars. And both entered the $5k #PokerInTheEars freeroll. So, expect a few hand histories, plus some mediocre analysis of less than optimal play!
"Ahead of their review of the "classic" poker movie 'Lucky You', the boys talk to Barry Greenstein, who had a small role in the film, and worked (briefly) on the production as a poker consultant. Barry also provides an overview of the current LA cash game scene, and explains how he became the 'King of Play Money Poker'.
"Finally, Gareth Morgan from Wales competes against Joe in a 'Walking Dead'-themed edition of 'Superfan vs Stapes'."
Don't forget to rate and subscribe to #PokerInTheEars on your favourite podcast platform.
New Jersey goes MEGASTACK
The Sunday Special Live concluded last weekend in New Jersey, won by John Monahan who took away a first prize of $19,920.
It's just the latest PokerStars MEGSTACK success story, following enormous events in Europe, including a record-breaking field in Namur, Belgium (LINK), and a field of more than 2,000 in France, and 1,000 in Portugal.
Monahan, 60, and from Egg Harbour Township in New Jersey, took first ahead of a field of 409, each of whom paid a buy in of just $220 to create a prize pool of $100,000. Alongside the Sunday Special Live a $120 Cheap and Deep event was won by Team Pro Chris Moneymaker, who took home $6,220.
Kasjan dreaming big
We spoke to Jan-Mikael "Kasjan" Kesänen this week who recounted the story of his Sunday Million last week, a victory worth $157,000 which came two days after he had a dream he would win €20,000. You can read Jason Kirk's report of the final here, and the interview with Kesänen himself on the Blog here.
Lastly, there was the story this week of the latest Winning Moment. Two players who, after scoring personal best results in PokerStars tournaments immediately thought to thank the Team Pro whose Twitch stream had helped them get their result in the first place.
Who was that Team Pro? Find out by reading the full story here.
