PokerStars Festival Marbella

Marbella is traditionally on the list of places British poker players head to for some sunshine with their poker. A week's dose of vitamin A there was usually enough to get your through the long winters in Luton and Nottingham. It was poker for health reasons.

Whatever the excuse Marbella was yet again the popular destination for poker players this week, even if the weather was probably hotter back home in heatwave Britain. At the time of writing this some 747 players had taken part in the Main Event (a record breaker), including the likes of Jake Cody, Lex Veldhuis, Fatima Moreira de Melo, and snooker star Stephen Hendry, not to mention Spain's best.

Jack Stanton and Nick Wright have been pool side court side from the start, bringing regular reports and stories from the action. We've put it all in one place so the story so far is only a click away. That click should be aimed right about here.

Negreanu presses on at the World Series

The World Series of Poker plays on in Las Vegas (we have about another three weeks of being able to start every WSOP post with that line), which means Daniel Negreanu has been there or thereabouts on the results chart.

His latest deep run came in the Limit Hold'em Championship, which Negreanu dubbed the game he grew up on in one of his ever popular vblogs (see below). Negreanu wasn't able to secure his seventh World Series bracelet, finishing in 13th place.

If you haven't already watched them his vblogs offer a great insight into the World Series and the man himself.

Poker In The Ears

Talking of Daniel Negreanu... we'll let the team introduce this week's podcast before they disappear for a well-earned six week summer break...

"As far as James and Matt are concerned, the podcast isn't on summer break until next week. But Joe's clearly had enough already, and has vanished on vacation seven days early! Yes, Uncle Daddy is absent from the show, leaving his work wife and work abusive stepdad to hold down the fort. Luckily, they have Daniel Negreanu to keep them company, as he makes his annual guest appearance.

"Daniel discusses his Vegas vlogs, celebrates his string of cashes at the World Series of Poker, and offers his two cents on a few WSOP controversies, including THAT angle shoot and the ongoing debate about dodgy decks of cards.

"In 'Adventures in Online Poker', Matt talks about teaching his Twitch viewers to play Badugi and 2-7 Triple Draw better than he can. And, with Joe AWOL, we present the first ever edition of 'Superfan vs James Hartigan', as Jack McCurdy competes for a #PSCBarcelona satellite ticket in a 'Top Gun'-themed quiz."

#PokerInTheEars returns on Thursday 10th August 2017.

Another chance to compete in the Sunday Million Live

Lastly, don't forget that Day 1B and Day 1C of the PokerStars Sunday Million Live take place this Sunday, June 25.

The buy-in is €215 with the top ten per cent of the field making it through to Day 2, which will be played live at King's Casino Rozvadov, Czech Republic. You'll also lock up a min-cash worth €400. In case this kind of thing slips your mind (and we find this is usually the last thing to be forgotten), it's a €1 million guaranteed event, so worth the trip to the King's Casino in Rozvadov this September.

That's all from the week on PokerStars. Good luck at the tables this weekend, whether that's online, live in Marbella, or indeed Luton. Want to get in touch? Email us at blog@pokerstars.com.
