Follow Neymar Jr to EPT12 Barcelona
This week, you might have seen what happened down in Brazil when footballer Neymar Jr decided to host a charity home game at the BSOP. Things got a little crazy.
Now, the living legend is ready to bring that same craziness to Barcelona to kick off Season 12 of the European Poker Tour.
On August 18 at 19:30, Neymar Jr and the EPT will host a €150 buy-in open to everyone. All of the money raised will go toward the Neymar Jr Project Institute, a group that supports education for underprivileged children.
While Neymar Jr's star will shine bright in Barcelona, there is so much more going on. As we've reported before, Season 12 of the EPT will be joining the Estrellas Poker Tour for a giant festival August 18-30.
More than 350 players have already qualified for the EPT Main Event in Barcelona, and satellites are still running. Last year was a record-buster in Barcelona. Now, everyone is waiting to see if this year will be even bigger.
EPT President Edgar Stuchly said, "Barcelona has been a fixture on the EPT schedule since the very first season, and its popularity is demonstrated by the increase in player numbers each year. With 71 events planned, this is the second biggest EPT in history after last season's Grand Final, and we expect this amazing stop to attract even more players this year."
To handle it all, an external marquee is being constructed to accommodate 35 additional poker tables and 28 extra tournaments. Casino opening hours have also been extended, with more frequent No-Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha cash games running at various stakes.
So, we know Neymar Jr and hundreds of others are going to be in Barcelona. Will you be there, too?
