Rafa hits ESCOOP during off weekend

Just a week after hoisting the Barcelona Open trophy above his head, Rafa Nadal had another championship in mind. This weekend, in advance of the upcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), Rafa hit up PokerStars Spanish version of the festival, ESCOOP.

Rafa chose event #6 yesterday, a six-max no-limit hold'em tourney. Battling against more than 1,600 other players and some of the top rounders on the Spanish circuit, Rafa looked to show Spain's best players that he'll work just as hard on the felt as he does on the clay.

As a man who knows it will take practice to get his game where he wants it, Rafa did not choose an easy event for his Sunday evening. He was in a field with some of the top players in the game, including Team Pro Juan Manuel Pastor (who made it to Day 2) and two Estrellas Poker Tour finalists, Carlos "Carsimmar" Simon and Artur "Arturitooo" Alabart.

Though Rafa did manage a quick jump in the Top 10 players yesterday, he ultimately finished up out of the money. In any case, he got in some good practice, and we might just see him playing ESCOOP again as he gets a little rest before his next time on the court.
