Kispocok91 captures June 2 Women's Sunday win
The first weekend of June was one filled with opportunities to donate to charity. Our May initiative to help raise money for Cancer Research UK was taken to new levels with Team PokerStars Pro's decision to run a Race for Life and help with fundraising.
Final numbers aren't in yet, but we do know that Liv raised more than £3,400 for her Race for Life, that she completed yesterday in 52 minutes. (It took some of that long to get up off the sofa.) She also hosted a wonderful $5+5 Race for Life tournament yesterday - yes, after she ran a race! - that brought in 112 players and raised $560 for Cancer Research UK. With another $100 added to the prize pool, Millyspoker won a total of $151.80 for first place.
We also had a freeroll today with t-shirts for the final table finishers and an iPad 2 for the winner, and PokerStars donated $1 for every player in the tournament to Cancer Research UK. The tournament capped out at 3,000 players, so another $3K was raised. More details will be provided regarding all of the other charity tournaments that generous players hosted this weekend and continue to do so this week. For now, thank you to everyone who participated so far!
All of the excitement in the air certainly carried over to the Women's Sunday:
Total players: 223
Prize pool: $11,150.00
Paid finishers: 36
Less than three hours into the action, the final table burst and the first player to be paid was Leka.TiM.Sin, last week's Women's Sunday champion. And at that three-hour mark, only two tables remained, as play was moving quite quickly.
Former winner sladost exited in 15th place, and the 11th place finish of Lorusya instigated hand-for-hand action. It took some time, but short-stacked trollunge99 eventually pushed all-in with A♥6♣ on the button, and Chiken Guska called from the small blind with Q♦T♥. The board came K♥2♠2♥9♠Q♥, eliminating trollunge99 in tenth place with $178.40.
Elena111255 leading at the start
The final table got underway in Level 18, with blinds at 1,250/2,500 and a 250 ante, along with these players and their corresponding chip counts:
Seat 1: TuesdaysCat (92,182 in chips)
Seat 2: Elena111255 (167,770 in chips)
Seat 3: Kispocok91 (91,135 in chips)
Seat 4: sexyhands (23,178 in chips)
Seat 5: ChikenGuska (88,866 in chips)
Seat 6: aaanouk (75,369 in chips)
Seat 7: julifant (66,868 in chips)
Seat 8: 7mango (26,966 in chips)
Seat 9: protonerasta (36,666 in chips)
It didn't take long for sexyhands to move her short stack preflop. It started with an early position raise from Tuesdays Cat and all-in reraise from sexyhands with J♣J♦. TuesdaysCat called with A♦7♦ and caught the ace on the turn of the Q♦4♥2♥A♣3♣ board. That eliminated sexyhands in ninth place with $211.85.
Next up was 7mango, who was down to little more than 20K chips and pushed with A♣6♠. Protonerasta reraised all-in to isolate with A♠J♦, and it worked. The dealer brought them 3♥8♠8♥Q♣9♥, and the kicker played to send 7mango out in eighth place with $278.75.
Tuesdayscat then scored this double through Elena111255 to change the table dynamic:
And then it was Kispocok91's turn, also doubling through Elena111255:
On the very next hand, Elena111255 moved all-in for 13,745 chips with K♠6♠, and aaanouk called from the big blind with A♣Q♦. The board came 8♣Q♣4♦5♠2♦, and Elena111255 was gone in seventh place with $390.25.
The next player at risk was aaanouk, who pushed all-in from the small blind after a raise from Kispocok91. Kispocok91 called with A♥Q♣, and aaanouk showed T♥9♥. The flop of A♦A♣5♠ gave Kispocok91 trip aces, and the 7♠ turn and J♣ river finished the hand, sending aaanouk out in sixth place with $501.75.
Julifant doubled through TuesdaysCat, and when protonerasta pushed all-in UTG a few hands later, julifant called from the big blind with A♦A♥. Protonerasta was behind with 8♣8♥ and never caught up on the 9♦4♦K♠6♣5♣ board. Protonerasta exited in fifth place with $646.70.
The next big hand saw julifant raise and TuesdaysCat move all-in for less than 100K from the big blind. Julifant called with 9♦9♠, and TuesdaysCat was in the race with Q♠T♣. But the flop of 9♣7♦A♥ gave julifant a set of nines, and the J♦ on the turn and J♠ on the river made it a full house. TuesdaysCat was eliminated in fourth place with $947.75.
ChikenGuska doubled through julifant on the very next hand and then did it again a bit later. Meanwhile, Kispocok91 retained the lead and continued to dominate, especially during three-handed play.
When ChikenGuska raised all-in with A♥3♠, julifant called with A♣J♦, and the board delivered 4♣A♠K♣6♠9♥, and the jack played in order to eliminate ChikenGuska in third place with $1,259.95.
Tough heads-up battle ensues
The final two players started their match with these counts:
Seat 3: Kispocok91 (463,100 in chips)
Seat 7: julifant (205,900 in chips)
Julifant made it tough, as she chipped up regularly during the battle. But every time she took a pot, Kispocok91 seemed to take chips back. After 15 minutes of it, the two got involved in a big hand. Kispocok91 raised, and julifant called to see a 6♦Q♥5♥ flop. Kispocok91 bet, and julifant check-called. The 7♣ on the turn brought another bet, and julifant check-raised. Kispocok91 reraised all-in with 7♥6♥ for the flush, but julifant called all-in with Q♣5♦, and the flopped two pair was no good. Julifant finished in second place with $1,672.50.
Kispocok91 of Hungary, who finished ninth in this event less than a month ago, took first place today for $2,280.28. Congrats!
