Women's Sunday Birthday party a rousing success
It's official. The celebration for the Women's Sunday Second Birthday was a success!
Players from around the world participated in PokerStars Women activities throughout the week leading up to the Women's Sunday Birthday Special, and it was exciting to see all of the spirit from our fans.
We want to officially thank all of the women who participated in our photo competition. These have become a staple in our celebrations, and we truly enjoy seeing our players join in the fun and be so creative. All of the entrants won a $5.50 satellite ticket, and we chose three winners to receive $55 seats to the Women's Sunday. The winners were:
Last Saturday, we had the first-ever PokerStars YouTube Hangout, hosted by the lovely Sarah Grant. Special guests were Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome, Celina Lin, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Jen "jenium" Shahade, Katie "hotjenny314" Dozier, and Joanne "organizer extraordinaire" Bartley.
Everyone started the half-hour live chat with party hats and champagne, and they discussed everything from marriage to playing poker in Macau and Israel, from competing on "Survivor" to moving to Mexico to play online at PokerStars. In case you missed it, you can watch a replay of the fun here:
Tens of thousands of players participated in freerolls last week to win Women's Sunday seats and satellite tickets. And when it came time for the big event - the Birthday Special - turnout was simply amazing. Sure, we offered a $20K guarantee for the $55 buy-in, as well as $100 bounties on the Team PokerStars players. But attendance grew, and grew, until we had 641 players! That created a prize pool of $32,050, which paid 99 top finishers. In the end, it was the Ukraine's COBYHbR who won the title and $5,881.45 as the top cash prize. The entire tournament recap can be found here.
Congratulations to everyone who cashed, and thanks to everyone who participated. We couldn't be happier to celebrate our second birthday with you, and we look forward to an exciting year to come!
