MicroMillions II: djeepy speeds to victory in Event #100 ($1+R NLHE Hyper-Turbo)

micromillions-thumb-blog.pngPokerStars knows how to throw one helluva party. If you've played in a live event on one of Stars' global poker tours, you know what I'm talking about. While the wrap party for the MicroMillions II didn't exactly come with an open bar and all-you-can eat empanadas, there were plenty of fireworks on display at the final table. It took all of ten minutes and 14 hands to crown the 100th champion of the series, Canada's djeepy, who bobbed and weaved his way through nearly 10,000 players to win $7,750.60 and a MicroMillions title.

9,876 players came out for the final event of the MicroMillions II. They made 38,581 rebuys and 5,262 add-ons, taking the prize pool up to $52,664.62. 1,260 places were paid with $7,750.60 set aside for first place. Team Pro Henrique Pinho joined his countryman Andre Coimbra on the felt today, along with Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome and Shane "shaniac" Schleger. All four Red Spades, however, missed the money.

With eleven players remaining, the blinds were up to 600,000/1,200,000 and Richie912 moved all-in for his last 3 million from UTG+1. Pitatoe called all-in for 1.2 million and KicsiLidO01 called as well, having both players covered.

Richie912 A♠Q♣
KicsiLidO01 A♣J♦
Pitatoe A♦T♥

KicsiLidO01 hit top pair on the J♥8♦2♦ flop, but Richie912 caught up on the turn, the Q♥ falling to pair his kicker. KicsiLidO01 wasn't done, however, and caught the J♠ on the river to make trips. KicsiLidO01 raked in both the main and side pots, and knocked out both opponents, Pitatoe taking 11th place while Richie912 finished tenth.

Final table chip counts:

Seat 2: 0morrisd (10,823,798 in chips)
Seat 3: djeepy (15,145,847 in chips)

Seat 8: shurbashurba (15,029,103 in chips)
Seat 9: sabzz (3,452,885 in chips)

The final table's first hand brought another double elimination. The blinds up to 800,000/1.6M, FdoOchoTres called all-in for 1.52 million, 0morrisd limped the button for 1.6 million, fat1808 completed the small blind and miguepoker was all-in for 1.17 million from the big. The flop fell A♥J♥9♣ and fat1808 check-folded to 0morrisd's 1.6 million bet.

FdoOchoTres Q♥Q♣
0morrisd A♣4♥
miguepoker 9♠7♣

0morrisd snapped off FdoOchoTres' pocket queens, pairing his ace on the flop. Although miguepoker caught bottom pair, he didn't improve any further, the turn and river falling the 2♦ and the 5♣ to send him to the rail in ninth place ($407.99). FdoOchoTres followed right behind in eighth, picking up $579.09 for his finish.

The next deal of the cards saw sabzz open-shove for 2.8 million from UTG only to run K♦8♦ smack into 0morrisd's A♠A♣. The aces held on the queen-high board, sabzz departing in seventh place with a $1,052.89 score.

The action didn't slow for a second, fat1808 taking his last stand on Hand #3. Fat1808 shoved for 2.04 million from the cutoff and Jaybone61 looked him up from the big blind. Although fat1808 had the preflop advantage, his K♦9♣ up against 4♣T♦, Jaybone61 hit middle pair on the 5♦4♦3♠ flop. Fat1808 did not improve and hit the rail in sixth place, earning $1,579.33.

Miraculously, two hands passed without another elimination. But on Hand #6, Jaybone61 moved in for 12.5 million and 0morrisd reshoved for 19.3 million behind him. Once again, 0morrisd had the goods, and turned over A♠A♦ while Jaybone61 shoved K♠Q♠. 0morrisd flopped a set of aces and turned aces full of sevens, ending Jaybone61's run in fifth place. Jaybone61 scored $2,105.78 for his efforts.

The very next hand saw djeepy move in for 15.5 million on the button and KicsiLidO01 call all-in for 10.1 million from the small blind with A♠Q♦. Djeepy was in trouble with 5♦6♥, but this was his lucky night. The flop fell a perfect 2♠3♥4♥, making him the nut straight. Djeepy raked in the 25.8 million pot while KicsiLidO01 busted in fourth place, taking home $2,632.23.

Down to 8 million with 1.25M/2.5M blinds, shurbashurba shoved on the next deal and djeepy called from the big blind. Once again, djeepy was behind, his K♣7♥ trailing shurbashurba's A♦4♠, but once again he was saved by the board. The flop came down K♥K♠5♦ to make djeepy trip kings. Shurbashurba was drawing dead when the 8♠ hit the turn and departed in third place, earning $3,948.34.

Heads-up chip counts:

Seat 2: 0morrisd (34,652,154 in chips)
Seat 3: djeepy (40,114,846 in chips)

0morrisd was keen to make a deal, offering a 50/50 split of the remaining prize pool, but djeepy wasn't having it. Heads-up ended up taking only six hands to complete anyhow. After a few trades of the blinds, djeepy opened for a min-raise to 5 million and 0morrisd called to see a A♣J♦8♥ flop. 0morrisd check-called djeepy's 2.5 million bet and they saw the Q♣ hit the turn. This time, 0morrisd led out for 7.5 million, djeepy shoved for 26.6 million and 0morrisd called, turning over K♣4♣ for the nut flush draw. Djeepy shoved J♥8♠ for two pair. The river blanked out with the 2♦ and djeepy raked in the massive 69.2 million pot, leaving 0morrisd on only 5.5 million in chips.

Although 0morrisd managed to double up on the next hand when his 5♥6♦ rivered a straight against djeepy's 7♥T♠, he couldn't hang on for any longer. Djeepy open-shoved on the next deal and although 0morrisd had the best of it preflop, djeepy turned bottom pair to finish him off:

Congratulations to djeepy on closing out the MicroMillions II with a bang. He picked up $7,750.60 for the win while 0morrisd earned $5,659.29 for his runner-up finish.
