MicroMillions II: geydrikh quickly handles Event #2 ($1+R NLHE, 3x-Turbo)

micromillions-thumb-blog.pngBefore today geydrikh had played in 417 tourneys on PokerStars and had only won $2,112. That was all before today, today things have changed for geydrikh. From this day forward geydrikh will be known as a MicroMillions champion having taken down Event #2, a NLHE 3x Turbo re-buy event. Having increased a career earnings of just over $2,000 to now creeping on the $18,000 mark. I'm sure that whatever part of Russia geydrikh resides in no one is smiling bigger.

When the first hand was dealt 22,198 players were seated, by the time the 90-minute registration ended that number swelled to 36,734. During the re-buy period 165,747 re-buys were made to move above the $150,000 guarantee. On top of that 16,691 add-ons were added to the prize pool giving a final number of $199,446.52, with $17,512.21 going to first. Here is a look at the numbers:

Entrants: 36,734
Guarantee: $150,000
Re-buys: 165,747
Add-ons: 16,691
Prize pool: $199,446.52
Paid Players:4,617

Among some of the early exits were Team Online member Siggie "ClarkKent89" Reichard, and Team Pokerstars members Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hruby and Bryan" BryanHuang" Huang, who were all eliminated before the second break.

Shortly after the third hour started the field made it to the money. With the remaining 4,617 guaranteed $9.97 they worked their way to the final table.

Along the way Team Online member André "acoimbra" Coimbra was eliminated in 2,633rd place. For those not familiar with him he is planning an Ironman mission where he will play all 100 events of the MicroMillions II schedule. You can follow his journey in his diary. Coimbra was also the only member of either Team Online or Team Pokerstars Pro to make the money.

It took 6 hours to get down to the final nine with Chapo16 leading the way followed closely by geydrikh.

Seat 1: Necrogenesis (63,964,536 in chips)
Seat 2: geydrikh (246,368,196 in chips)
Seat 3: easee123 (153,107,695 in chips)
Seat 4: Chapo16 (264,310,088 in chips)
Seat 5: tytkto (91,457,612 in chips)
Seat 6: Brandyandy25 (83,668,121 in chips)
Seat 7: crazyprec (61,156,264 in chips)
Seat 8: MSFJigan (74,517,172 in chips)
Seat 9: taralhoco27 (69,623,316 in chips)

Time to make a move:

Starting the final table second from the bottom and just over ten big blinds left Necrogenesis needing to make a move sooner rather than later. That move came in the form of a shove with A♥J♠ from late position. The big blind, tytkto, called showing A♣K♥. The K♦9♠5♠ flop delivered a pair of Kings for tytkto. The Q♠ turn and J♦ river brought a smaller pair of jacks to Necrogenesis who was eliminated in ninth place collecting $915.45.

Kings no good:

In a battle of the blinds MSFJigan moved all-in from the small blind after action folded to him. The all-in shove was called by taralhoco27. MSFJigan held the lead with K♣K♦ over taralhoco27's A♦6♣. That lead was short lived as an ace came on the A♥T♥4♥ flop. The Q♥ turn and 4♣ river delivered no assistance to MSFJigan who collected $1,555.68 for an eighth place effort.

Preflop lead fails again:

Holding the lead at the start of the hand doesn't mean that you will hold it by the end of the hand, or even after the flop. The hand got started with Chapo16 limping in from early position. Brandyandy25, the short-stack, moved all-in and the action folded to Chapo16 who called. Brandyandy showed A♣9♣ while Chapo16 held Q♠T♠. Once again the flop changed everything as Chapo16 pulled into the lead with a pair of tens on the T♣6♠4♦ flop, and once again the turn and river (2♥5♠) brought no assistance sending Brandyandy out in seventh place collecting $2,285.65.

Post-flop action:

It's something that has not happened much up to this point of the final table. Action after the flop that is. After Chapo16 limped in from late position taralhoco27 check their option from the big blind and the pair saw the 9♣8♦6♠ flop. That's when all the chips went into the middle with taralhoco27 moving all-in and Chapo16 called. The players cards were revealed with taralhoco27 holding Q♠8♣ for middle pair while Chapo16 held A♥9♦ for top pair. The 7♠ turn and 7♣ river brought each player a second pair but did not improve things enough for taralhoco27 who collects $3,292.86 for sixth place.

Battle of the Blinds:

In another battle of the blinds, that included an extra 10 million chips from pre-flop limper Chapo16, crazyprec moved all-in from the small blind. The big blind, geydrikh, called and Chapo16 got out of the way. The lead was held by geydrikh's A♦J♠ over crazyperc's K♠6♥. That lead was only increased as geydrikh caught a pair of jacks on the J♦9♦7♠ flop. The 3♠ turn meant nothing to either player while the J♥ river added a little salt to the wound sending crazyperc out in fifth place collecting $4,938.29.

4th Place:

With less than 10 big blinds tytkto was first to act and moved all-in. A raise to double of tytkto was made by easee123 and everyone else got out of the way. The pair's cards were shown with easee123 holding A♠K♥ against tytkto's J♥8♥. The board ran out 7♠7♣6♣3♦3♣ giving both players two pair. It was easee123's ace that won the hand sending tytkto out in fourth place collecting $6,583.72.

Down to two:

Even though Chapo16 eliminated many of the previous final table players he found himself as the shortest stack when three-handed play began. It was an up and down adventure for Chapo16 who was close to chip leader at one point and down to just over one big blind at another. Eventually the roller coaster ended and Chapo16 was eliminated in third place at the hands of geydrikh. All the chips went into the middle pre-flop with Chapo16 holding Q♣6♦ against geydrikh's K♣2♠. That lead held and even got better as the K♦7♠6♠9♠2♦ board gave geydrikh two pair. Chapo16 collected $8,239.13 for fourth place.

When heads-up play began geydrikh held just over a seven to one chip lead. Here is a look at exactly how the chip stacks looked:

Seat 2: geydrikh (972,933,144 in chips)
Seat 3: easee123 (135,239,856 in chips)

Play only lasted two hands as easee123 looked to either double or end things. In the first hand both players flopped a pair but they ended up chopping the pot. The next hand saw a min-raise to 56,000,000 from geydrikh. easee123 raised to 117,406,800, just over double the min-raise leaving just over 15 million behind. geydrikh called and the pair saw a 6♦5♦3♣ flop. easee123 moved all-in and geydrikh called and their cards were revealed. easee123 held 8♦6♥ for top pair while geydrikh held Q♥4♠ for an open-ended straight draw. The 2♥ brought one of geydrikh's outs leaving easee123 looking for one of the remaining fours to once again chop the pot. The 3♥ river was not a four, sending easee123 to collect $12,624.96 while giving geydrikh the win along with the $17,512.21 first place money.

Congrats to geydrikh on your win!
