MicroMillions III: suren180376 surefire victory in Event #24 $2.20 NL

Wire-to-wire. It's a term that originated in horse racing, but seems applicable to explain suren180376's impressive thoroughbred-like performance at the final table in Event #24. When it began, suren180376 was way out in front with the lead and never relinquished it despite eight hard-nosed challengers desperately trying to trip up the eventual champion. Facing very few obstacles at the final table, suren180376 coasted to victory and went wire-to-wire to become the newest MicroMillions III champion.

Event #24 $2.20 NL attracted 14,750 runners. The top 2,025 places got a cut of the $29,500 prize pool with $3,683.08 set aside to the eventual champion.

When the tournament reached its ninth hour, exactly 10 players remained. Action hand-for-hand, and Russia's suren180376 held the lead with 13.6 million.

After a prolonged final table bubble, it finally popped during a battle of the blinds. Action folded to rozilio10 in the small blind, who shoved for 3,430,784, and Seb2short called all-in for 1,765,704 from the big blind. When both players tabled their cards, rozilio10 led with A♠T♠ against Seb2short's Q♠T♦. The board ran out 8♠7♠2♦4♠T♣ and rozilio10 had turned a nut flush. Seb2short unceremoniously bubbled off the final table in tenth place. The final nine were set.

Ben Clooney eliminated in 9th place

It took almost a full level of play before someone became the first player to get knocked off the final table. It occurred when Ben Clooney open-shoved for 5,691,276, and everyone folded except for sihair. Ben Clooney made a final stand with T♦T♣ against sihair's A♣J♣. The flop was A♠9♦8♣ and the Ace stung badly for Ben Clooney. The turn was the 3♦ and the river was the 8♠. Ben Clooney's pocket tens were beat by sihair. For a ninth-place finish, Ben Clooney took home $177.00.

Mr.Jason Wu eliminated in 8th place

Mr.Jason Wu began the final table as the short stack, but he only managed to hang on for a little while before he got it all-in with 8♠8♦ against sihair's K♠J♠. The flop was J♣6♣6♠ and sihair took the lead with a pair of Jacks. The turn was the 6♥ and sihair improved to a full house. Giedrius698 eliminated in 7th place

The entire dynamic of the final table quickly changed with a flurry of unexpected bustouts occurring right after each other. The avalanche began with Giedrius698's exit in seventh place.

Kringle66 eliminated in 5th place

Kringle66 open-shoved for 2,090,110 and zyrus2424 called from the big blind with A♥A♠. Kringle66 was in trouble with Q♦7♦. The flop was 9♥9♦5♠, but the T♦ on the turn gave Kringle66 a glimmer of hope with a flush re-draw. Alas, the river was the 7♣ and zyrus2424's pocket rockets held up when he faded a diamond. Kringle66 busted out in fifth place, which paid $1,091.50.

With four remaining, suren180376 held the lead with 27.7 million and sihair held onto the shortest stack worth 13.5 million.

rozilio10 eliminated in 4th place

You would think the action would slow down once it got four-handed, but if you blinked you would have missed the final three eliminations.

Suren180376 opened with a raise to 1,744,444, and rozilio10 called from the big blind. The flop was A♥6♣4♦, which prompted rozilio10 to bet 800,000, but suren180376 bumped it up to 3.2 million. Rozilio10 three-bet shoved for 17,153,477, and suren180376 called all-in for 13,953,477. Both players flopped an Ace, but suren180376 was ahead with a better kicker and A♠Q♦ versus rozilio10's A♦3♥. Although suren180376 held a flush draw with 7♦5♦, sihair was ahead with K♥T♥ and just King-high. The 7♠ on the river did not fill in a flush, but suren180376 backdoored a pair of sevens. It was good enough to win the pot. The United Kingdon's sihair was knocked out in third place and collected $1,976.50.
