MicroMillions 4: Patience rewarded for botaro666 in Event #5 ($3.30 NLHE)

The fourth edition of the popular MicroMillions series got off to a cracking start today with six different events kicking off and hundreds of thousands of players getting among the low-limit action. It's the chance to turn pocket change into significant sums of money, as Argentina's botaro666 discovered, with an investment of just $3.30, and ten hours of hard work, turned into almost six grand in prize money.

Event #5 of the MicroMillions 4 schedule was the $3.30 No Limit Holdem event, and with a huge field of 18,459 players, the prize pool of $55,377 more than doubled the advertised guarantee.

Humberto Brenes, Adrienne Rowsome and 2003 World Champion Chris Moneymaker were some of the Team PokerStars Pro among the MicroMillions action today, but sadly this trio were all eliminated before reaching the cash.

The top 2,475 players would finish in the money, but vassily514 from Canada would fall short of the $4.98 min-cash after bubbling in 2,476th place.

PokerStars Team Online member Tyler Frost (pictured grinding below) grabbed $6.09 for 1,934th place as the only red spade to finish in the money.

When maeann20 lost a race with 4♥4♦ against MrKloutt's K♣7♣ to fall in 10th place, our final table line up was set:

Final Table Line up
Seat 1: botaro666 (20,447,622 in chips)
Seat 2: seanAA1 (24,568,955 in chips)
Seat 3: $oh$eguraH (4,488,454 in chips)
Seat 4: PocketAcesA5 (2,838,793 in chips)
Seat 5: Gogg1111 (4,887,366 in chips)
Seat 6: MrKloutt (1,5301,073 in chips)
Seat 7: kellis22 (5,203,459 in chips)
Seat 8: Starnya (7,533,494 in chips)
Seat 9: Bemo_RTS (7,025,784 in chips)

The final table blinds kicked off at 250k/500k/62.5k and we didn't have to wait long for action as fireworks exploded on the very first hand. Bemo_RTS opened with a raise before PocketAcesA5 three-bet shoved all in. Gogg1111 popped up with a cold call from the small blind which was enough to send Bemo_RTS scampering out of the way. PocketAcesA5 showed 6♠6♥ but Gogg1111 had the big guns with A♣A♠. It only got worse for PocketAcesA5 as the board ran out A♥J♣3♠8♣3♦ to see Gogg1111 take the pot and eliminate PocketAcesA5 in 9th place for $332.26.

Bemo_RTS was lucky to survive after shoving J♥9♥ into $oh$eguraH's dominant A♥9♦ but incredibly five clubs ran out on board as the players chopped it up.

kellis22 wasn't quite so fortunate. kellis22 moved all in from under the gun with K♥Q♣ with seanAA1 making the call holding A♦9♣. The board of 8♥J♥6♣7♥T♣ missed kellis22 as the straight was overkill for seanAA1 who collected the pot. 8th place was worth $498.39 for kellis22.

Just a few hands later and we lost another player and again it was the ace-nine which was at play. $oh$eguraH had tried to steal with an early position shove holding a rather marginal 7♠8♣, but it didn't get past MrKloutt who made the call with A♦9♣. The board brought no surprises as it was spread A♣Q♣4♥A♥2♣ with three aces more than enough to better eight-high. $oh$eguraH was out in 7th place for $830.65 in prize money.

The blinds were getting higher, and the number of players fewer, which put pressure on Bemo_RTS as the short stack. With a little over six big blinds, Bemo_RTS shoved from the button with T♥7♥ but seanAA1 was happy to call in the big blind with A♠J♦. Bemo_RTS wasn't in bad shape with live cards but the board of A♣2♦J♠6♣A♥ was about as bad as it could get as seanAA1 improved to a full house. Bemo_RTS was left to add $1,384.42 to the cashier for 6th place.

seanAA1 was into a strong chip advantage with five players left but took a small hit when the short-stacked Starnya doubled up with pocket jacks against seanAA1's pocket nines.

Another double up went the way of botaro666 in the biggest pot of the tournament to date with botaro666's A♣J♦ holding true against MrKloutt's A♥T♥.

MrKloutt took the blow and recovered with a double up holding pocket kings, before clashing preflop with Gogg1111. It was Gogg1111's 5♥5♠ against MrKloutt's T♣T♦ with the board falling 2♣4♥6♦K♣8♠. Gogg1111 was looking for a five, or even a three after flopping a gutshot straight draw, but the turn and river bricked out. Gogg1111's 5th place was worth $1,938.19.

The comeback of MrKloutt continued as moments later another massive clash unfolded:

seanAA1 had flopped two pair but MrKloutt turned a bigger two pair to take over the tournament chip lead.

Starnya was the short stack and landed one double, but couldn't make it two in a row. In a battle of the blinds, Starnya shoved with A♦3♣ from the small blind but botaro666 was sitting pretty in the big blind with A♣Q♣. There were chop outs on the paired board of 9♦7♠7♦K♠5♣ but ultimately there was no help for Starnya who collected $2,491.96 for 4th place.

seanAA1 and MrKloutt reunited their rivalry with seanAA1 evening up the ledger. seanAA1 shoved for twenty big blinds first to speak with A♣4♦ and needed help when MrKloutt called with 9♣9♦. Help indeed arrived when the board was spread 2♣A♠8♥8♦5♦ with the magical ace from space shooting seanAA1 back into contention.

The two players again went to war preflop with MrKloutt three-bet shoving with A♦J♠ and seanAA1 happy to gamble, making the call with 2♦2♠. The board of 7♥Q♦A♣9♠T♠ paired the ace of MrKloutt to leave seanAA1 in trouble on the short stack.

MrKloutt or seanAA1 would win the next nine consecutive pots as botaro666 was happy to sit back and watch the fireworks.

seanAA1 recovered with the lucky ace striking once more with A♥2♠ getting past 7♥7♠ on a T♣9♠A♦8♦8♥ board, but the comeback was quickly halted in unfortunate fashion:

botaro666's tournament flashed before his eyes, but a three-outer on the flop left seanAA1 crippled.

A few hands later seanAA1 finally succumbed with J♦9♦ running into botaro666's K♠J♥. The board fell Q♥4♠T♥9♠9♣ giving seanAA1 trip nines but it wasn't enough against botaro666's straight. A gallant run by seanAA1 was brought to an end in 3rd place for $3,599.50 in prize money.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 1: botaro666 (64,944,020 in chips)
Seat 6: MrKloutt (27,350,980 in chips)

After four small pots, the fifth hand of heads-up play would prove to be the last. MrKloutt three-bet shoved for a little over twenty big blinds holding T♦J♥. botaro666 was happy to make the call with A♣Q♦ with ace-high enough on the baby board of 7♥3♣5♦5♥6♠. MrKloutt's entertaining tournament ended in 2nd place for $4,707.04 as botaro666's patience was rewarded with victory for Argentina and $5,984.99 in prize money. Congratulations!
