SCOOP 2015: Do not adjust your screens, Mercier wins again

There used to be one thing that SCOOP guaranteed, and that was plenty of winners. It was also usualy to see familiar big fields and prize pools. This year though the roll call of winners has also been so familiar and yesterday appeared to be no different.

One man seems to be running away with things after the opening eight events of the Spring Championship of Online Poker, and that's Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier.

Mercier, who even at rest seems to be winning, took down Event 5-H this week, a $2,100 Badugi tournament with a first prize of $39,200 (read the full report here). Then yesterday he did it all over again to win a second, this time in Event 8-H, a $2,100 NL Draw contest, worth another $34,400. Naturally that gives him a convincing lead in the Player of the Series race.

That might ordinarily suggest a player of Mercier's calibre would walk it, were it not for the quality of the opposition who were also notching up wins. Not least Fedor Holz.

You might remember Holz as CrownUpGuy, a name familiar to anyone who recalls WCOOP last year, for it was he who won the Main Event. Yesterday Holz added "SC" to his list of "OOPs", winning Event 8-L, a $27 No-Limit Draw tournament with a first prize of $7,099. Not a grand payday you might think, but that's not always the point. Holz now leads the low buy-in leader board, and is third overall, some 135 points behind Mercier.

Meanwhile you can now watch some of the best action from SCOOP yourself, featuring some top draw poker and commentary from Team Pro Liv Boeree.

In the first check out the action from Event 3-M won by caIcuIer_. While in the second (scroll down) you can enjoy highlights of Event 3-H, won by Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi.
