Battle of the Planets: Deja vu all over again, nine way chop of final table money

BOP_thumbnail.jpgHearing stories of fatigue at the World Series of Poker as players talk about multi-tabling two tournaments must send a chuckle to 375 players entered in today's Battle of the Planets $50,000 Triple Shootout freeroll. To acquire the ticket to today's fun and have a shot at the $12,000 first prize these Sit and Go kings and queens most likely played between four and 24 SnG at a time catching just right combination of wins and points for their seats. Team PokerStars pro Joep van den "Pappe_Ruk" Bijgaart and Grayson "spacegravy" Physioc cashed in their tickets today, but fell short of the money finishing 148th and 161st respectively.

Due to the mostly short-handed tables we were able to move into the money spots (81 places) in just a shade over an hour. Down to the last heads-up match between ToM RoX 420 and a shortstacked mackuly the rest of the tables laid eyes on table 67 to finish. With just 772 chips and blinds at 125/250 ante 25 mackuly would shove from the button holding J♦T♣ as ToM RoX 420 found a pair of ducks 2♣2♦ and made the call. Both would hit the 3♠ J♥ 2♥ flop, but ToM RoX 420's set of twos all but shut out the top pair of mackuly. After the 7♦ dropped on the turn ToM RoX 420 was sent to the next round of the shootout as our final 81 were assured $195.00 for winning their tables.

Setting up the final table

Team PokerStars pros André Coimbra was back in the money this month after taking down nearly $4K last month. But, could not duplicate his final table feat and finished in 77th place. Fellow Team PokerStars pro Martha "marene" Herrera would also win her first table taking $195.00 from the freeroll in 51st place. yBbl_Huli and tschebe8 however had no issues in advancing quickly to the final table. Down to two tables left markux would finish off Homeplaya5! who unlike his victorious German national team in the World Cup today will not be advancing. Table nine would set the stage for the final player to advance as caprioli and BagClip2005 had nearly even stacks throughout heads-up play. Shortly after the hourly break caprioli would quickly double up with queens and eight hands later with blinds at 300/600 ante 50 BagClip2005 would shove for 4,116 chips holding A♥5♣ as caprioli covered by 5K and made the call with Q♥8♥. Ace-high was looking good by the turn 3♠ J♣ T♣ 4♦ but a 9♠ would fall on the river to caprioli a straight and the last seat to the triple shootout final table.

Quickest $4K these players have ever made

Wow, in a case of déjà vu from last week, once again the players immediately went to deal-making mode after the normal congratulations to the final table message appeared. HostAdriana was gracious enough to pause the tourney and run down the final chop numbers. Just a McDonald's happy meal less than $4,000.00 (or $3995.55 for those without kids) was available for players. Eight of the nine players readily agreed to the chop as caprioli took a little extra time before accepting the even chop.

Unlike last week the players had no desire to play this one out and immediately shoved on the next hand watch the eight-way all in fest below:

tschebe8's 7♣J♠ would notch together two running cards on the T♣ A♦ 4♥ 9♥ 8♠ to take out the majority of the table with the 11,645 chip pot. Just caprioli and kypux had chips left over for the second running of the cards as tschebe8 had the only diamond 4♦Q♠ on the sparkly 6♦ A♦ Q♦ 9♦ 5♣ final board to take the remaining 3,570 chips off the table to become the official June Battle of the Planets champion.
