Battle of the Planets: JJAACKK jumps final nine for freeroll title and $12,000
Our September edition of the $50,000 Battle of the Planets triple shootout freeroll would come on the heels of another successful WCOOP coming to a close. 516 players would take their heads from WCOOP bracelet dreams to join us tonight.
Four Team Pokerstars Pro and Online players earned their tickets tonight. Grayson "spacegravy" Physioc was not able to clear the first gates, while low on chips he would run 8♥A♥ into trimcard's 9♣A♦ and failed to find the suckout on the 5♥ A♠ 7♠ J♠ 9♦. Team Online's George "Jorj95" Lind and Diego "vgreen22" Brunelli would also find themselves on the rail early in the first round. Leaving all Team PokerStars hopes to Joep van den "Pappe_Ruk" Bijgaart who was heads-up versus jersey716. Going into blinds of just 50/100 this fast paced table was down to two with jersey716 holding a 6,044 to 2,956 chip lead over Bijgaart. Joep would make a min-raise from the button as jersey716 called to see a 7♦ 5♥ 6♣ flop. jersey716 checked as Bijgaart continued with a 200 chip bet, jersey716 check-raised to 600 as Joep three-bet shoved and jersey716 made the call. jersey716's call was easy holding the nut straight 8♥9♠ as Joep was left looking for a nine for a chop flipping up 8♠Q♦. A♦ turn and T♠ river sent jersey716 to the second round assured $195.00 and Bijgaart was eliminated in 259th place.
Down to the money bubble, black5406 had Grimzor on the ropes with a 9,131 to 1,369 chip advantage and deep 150/300 ante 25 blinds. Grimzor would push from the button with 2♦A♦ as black5406 also held an ace and made the call 3♣A♣. Most times this is a chop but black5406 would find two treys on the 6♣ Q♠ 3♦ T♣ 3♥ board and started up the second round of 81.
Chef cooked before final table
After JJAACKK shot down Smdpair77 for the eighth final table seat, it was over to Table 7 where arroyo21, O.G.P.D.Chef, and Duranin were still battling three-handed into the 125/250 ante 25 blind level. arroyo21 would be the first to bow out leaving O.G.P.D.Chef and Duranin to set the last seat after the hourly five minute break with Duranin holding a slight 7,151 to 6,349 chip lead. Duranin would pull ahead shortly after the break after his pocket sixes 6♦6♣ held versus O.G.P.D. Chef's treys 3♦3♥ for a 12,302 chip pot. O.G.P.D.Chef still had chips after stealing the blinds after the break and tossed those 1,198 chips in preflop on the very next hand with 8♠Q♣. Duranin made the call holding A♦5♣ and was granted an ace on the 9♣A♠2♥ flop. Q♦ on the turn gave O.G.P.D.Chef a river sweat, but the 7♠ sealed up our final nine shown below:
Seat 1: JJAACKK (1500 in chips)
Seat 2: misterji (1500 in chips)
Seat 3: mysto20 (1500 in chips)
Seat 4: Jossel2008 (1500 in chips)
Seat 5: 12ziz12 (1500 in chips)
Seat 6: riverkila (1500 in chips)
Seat 7: Duranin (1500 in chips)
Seat 8: rastajob (1500 in chips)
Seat 9: gun333106 (1500 in chips)
The blinds were reset to 10/20 as were the chip stacks (1,500 chips) as our final nine had some murmurs of a nine-way chop early on but the idea never caught on.
Jostled from the table
Normally the first two levels of the final table breeze by with a little pick here or chip pinch there, but Jossel2008 found himself down to 735 chips in the early goings of the 15/30 blind level and after min-raising preflop found three callers to see the 6♦9♥3♠ flop. Checks all around to the A♦ turn and gun333106 would fire 150 into the hole as Jossel2008 would shove his remaining 675 chips in with big slick K♠A♠. Both riverkila and rastajob got out of the way as gun333106 made the call with a turned two pair A♣3♦. No dice on the 2♦ river and while Jossel2008 scored a 4th place recently in the weekly Super Tuesday for $37,986.00 he was the first victim tonight finishing ninth ($775.00).
As the blinds moved up to 25/50, watch the flop of this all-in between JJAACKK and misterji:
JJAACKK min-raised from the button as misterji would shove for 855 from small blind, folded back to JJAACKK he would make the call holding J♣A♥. Dominated by misterji's big slick K♦A♣ some board help would need to come. Flopped boat is pretty decent as J♦J♥A♦T♥8♦ would spread out on the board and send misterji home in eighth place ($1,200.00).
Kings rule over three-way all-in
Blinds moved up to 50/100 as riverkila would raise to 240 as Duranin shoved right in front of riverkila for 1,075. mysto20 in the big blinds was not going anywhere with pocket jacks J♠J♦ and called for 962 chips. Back to riverkila who covered everyone by 370 chips called as well with Q♥A♠. Duranin was comfortably in the lead with pocket kings K♥K♦ and more so after a third piece of royalty made kings full on the K♠7♠A♥9♥9♠ board sending riverkila down to 370 chips and mysto20 out in seventh place ($1,700.00).
After sticking around with several preflop blind steals, riverkila would finally get called in a blind versus blind battle with Duranin. The blinds remained at 50/100 as riverkila would shove for 770 chips total holding a suited big slick A♠K♠ as Duranin would think a little bit before calling with Q♠K♥. Behind, but not for long as a queen Q♣ 5♠2♦ showed up on the flop giving Duranin the big lead. 4♣ opened up a gutter-wheel draw but the T♣ sent the previous Battle of the Planets finalist (January 2010, 4th place) out in sixth place.
Aces are winners mon
Immediately after the five hourly break, 12ziz12 would try to steal the blinds by shoving from the button for 1,064 chips as the blinds moved up again to 75/150. Duranin would fold the small blind but rastajob had an easy decision to make the call with pocket aces A♦A♣. K♥Q♦ for 12ziz12 was in serious trouble but the by the turn the board read 7♣J♥4♦T♠ giving 12ziz12 six outs to a straight. 8♦ came on the river instead and finished 12ziz12 in fifth place ($2,735.00).
Diamonds don't do diddly
rastajob would lose most of the chips gained from eliminating 12ziz12, and as the blinds moved up to 100/200 he would shove for 1,045 chips from the button with T♦8♦. Called by gun333106 holding the dominant A♠T♥ rastajob would gain some outs after the 4♠9♣6♦ flop for a straight. 6♠ did not hit nor the Q♣ river as rastajob was smoked in fourth place ($3,350.00).
Brief chop talks
JJAACKK offered to take $10K and chop up the rest, but the players played on without summoning the PokerStars Host as JJAACKK continued to hold a sizable chip lead moving into the introduction of the antes.
JACKS ATTACK!! (part 2)
JJAACKK likes jacks obviously and just one jack would help him eliminate gun333106. As the blinds went up to 125/250 ante 25, JJAACKK would try to bully the table with a raise to 2,750 chips from the button. The bet covered both of the remaining player's stacks as Duranin folded, but gun333106 snap called with pocket nines 9♠9♦. The chip leader turned over 5♥J♠ and was greeted by not one but two jacks on the J♥6♦Q♦J♦T♣ board to shoot gun333106 off the table in third place ($4,500.00).
The battle that wasn't
Immediately, Duranin would ask "call moderator?" but instead shoved 2,269 chips into the middle trying to buy some time until the PokerStars Host would arrive. Unfortunately, JJAACKK had a real hand to call with K♦Q♦ and made the call. Watch Duranin's J♠Q♣ try to find a win below:
No sweat and no jack this time on the 6♥4♣4♥7♣A♦ board, as JJAACKK seems to have some control as to when they float into the five card spread in the middle. The final 4,538 chip pot was JJAACKK's along with $12,000.00 for the September Battle of the Planet's $50,000 Triple Shootout freeroll title.
As may have heard, the WCOOP Main Event broke records for the biggest online prize pool at $12,215,000.00 today with a guaranteed $2,000,000.00 going to the winner. Be sure to check back here at the PokerStarsBlog for all the WCOOP and Main Event action.
