MicroMillions: sergiuo surges to win in Event #46 ($1+R NLHE 3x-Turbo)
It is not how you start but how you finish that matters, for sergiuo he finished as strong as ever to take down Event 46, a $1 re-buy NLHE 3x-Turbo event. He came into the final table in the bottom half of the leader board with less than 10 big blinds, but he managed to get an early double-up, and then eliminated a few players propelling him into a chip lead that his opponents were unable to surpass.
A 3-x Turbo is not quite a super turbo but it still features a quick structure. While the levels last the regular five minutes that is standard for most turbos the antes get started early and climb faster and the blinds skip levels here and there. Add in that Event 46 is an re-buy and you get a field that is 13,763 strong with a prize pool that surpasses the $50,000.00 guarantee. Let's take a look at the numbers:
Prize pool: $77,007.84
Paid Players: 1,800
The race to the final table became a one man affair as 3aHoC made the move from middle of the pack with 18 players remaining to the one at the top by the time they reached the final nine. His performance included eliminating five of the nine it took to get to the final table which gave him just under a 3 to 1 chip lead over his nearest opponent.
Seat 1: jaymore (42,956,643 in chips)
Seat 2: GffLucky (25,628,741 in chips)
Seat 3: 3aHoC (142,115,878 in chips)
Seat 4: queenmillion (26,172,256 in chips)
Seat 5: Mikeg1578 (17,147,382 in chips)
Seat 6: 4epdak (56,364,988 in chips)
Seat 7: Nico_Blue73 (43,500,487 in chips)
Seat 8: sergiuo (32,069,089 in chips)
Seat 9: nefedovaolya (35,640,536 in chips)
Man down & then another:
It did not take long for the first player to get eliminated from the final table with five of the nine sitting with less than 10 big blinds. It all started when everyone folded in front of jaymore who then moved all-in for 8,007,902, blinds at 1,800,000/3,600,000/360,000. GffLucky was the next to act and called, everyone else folded and the players cards were revealed. GffLucky held the early lead with A♥T♣ over jaymore's A♠4♣. The T♥6♥2♠Q♠K♥ board was not helpful to jaymore eliminating him in ninth place where he collects $462.04.
The very next hand saw another elimination. Once again GffLucky was involved in the hand, this time his opponent was 4epdak. GffLucky opened from early position to 10,800,000, action folded to 4epdak who moved all-in for 28,284,988 on the button. The blinds folded leaving GffLucky, who called and revealed A♣A♦, 4epdak held A♠Q♣. The 5♦4♠2♣6♦9♠ board was friendly to GffLucky meaning 4epdak was eliminated in eighth place collecting $692.07.
A brief lull in eliminations:
It seemed that the play a hand, eliminate a player trend was going to continue in the next hand but sergiuo managed to hold off 3aHoC for the double-up. That hand was only a short break in the eliminations as sergiuo was once again involved in an all-in hand. This time however he was not the one all-in, it was Mikeg1578. Things got started when Mikeg1578 opened to 10,800,000, everyone folded to sergiuo who moved all-in for 42,458,178. Action folded back to Mikeg1578 who called off his remaining stack putting him at risk of being eliminated. When the players cards were revealed Mikeg1578 saw that his A♦J♦ was behind the A♥Q♣ that belonged to sergiuo. After the 6♠4♠3♠ flop Mikeg1578 still had a chance but the Q♦ turn closed that chance leaving Mikeg1578 with no outs. Mikeg1578 collects $1,463.14 for his seventh place effort.
sergiuo keeps climbing:
After surviving an all-in and then eliminating one of his opponents, sergiuo continued to build his stack. One way he did that was by eliminating another player. Starting the hand in the small blind and having action fold to him sergiuo moved all-in, enough to cover nefedovaolay who called. When the cards were revealed nefedovaolya had to like his chances of getting a double up with his 8♠8♦ going against sergiuo's 9♥6♣. That optimism was short lived as the T♦9♣6♦ flop brought two pair for sergiuo. The 5♠ turn and K♥ river sent nefedovaolay out in sixth place collecting $2,233.22.
Who is that again?:
The last three big hands all had one common denominator in it, sergiuo. Well the next one was no different, unlike the last two that saw him eliminating a player this one saw him getting another double-up. It all started with sergiuo opening to 8,000,000 from under the gun. Everyone folded to the Nico_Blue73 who moved all-in, which was enough to cover sergiuo, in the big blind, sergiuo called and the players cards were reveled. Nico_Blue73 held A♥K♣ while sergiuo held K♥K♠. An ace did not appear sending sergiuo into the chip lead and Nico_Blue73 down to the bottom.
Another player down:
The player that was in the chip lead before serguio made his push, 3aHoC, to the top started to push back and started that push with an elimination. 3aHoC opened from early position to 12,000,000, everyone folded to the big blind, GffLucky, who moved all-in for 35,917,629, 3aHoC called. GffLucky held A♠9♥ while 3aHoC held A♦Q♣. The A♣J♣4♦ flop brought a pair of aces to both players, the 4♥ gave both two pair with 3aHoC still holding the lead thanks to his queen kicker. The Q♥ river give 3aHoC the bigger two pair sending GffLucky out in fifth place collecting $3,003.30.
Nico_Blue73 was at the bottom of the pack after losing the hand against sergiuo and was waiting on a spot to put his chip in the middle to try and get the double he needed. He found that spot in the big blind facing a 9,000,000 chip raise from 3aHoC. Nico_Blue73 moved all-in for 30,294,878 and 3aHoC called. Nico_Blue73's J♥J♣ held the lead against 3aHoC's A♦7♣. The 7♦6♠3♥ flop gave 3aHoC a pair but he still trailed in the hand. The A♦ turn changed that giving 3aHoC two pair and the lead he needed to eliminate Nico_Blue73. The 8♦ river meant the end for Nico_Blue73 eliminating him in fourth place collecting $3,773.38.
Getting to two:
The three-handed battle was a time for one player to build at the expense of the other two. That player was sergiuo who kept the pressure on his opponents on his way to building a substantial chip lead.
That chip lead only got bigger when sergiuo and 3aHoC clashed. It all started with sergiuo opening to 15,000,000 from the small blind, 3aHoC called from the big blind and the pair saw a 5♥4♥4♦ flop. sergiuo led out to 15,900,000, 3aHoC moved all-in for 48,293,221, and sergiuo called. 3aHoC revealed 2♠2♣ while sergiuo held A♥J♦. The 6♣ turn meant nothing to either player while the 6♠ gave each player another pair. The two pair on the board were bigger than the pocket twos held by 3aHoC and since serguio had the higher kicker 3aHoC was eliminated in third place collecting $5,313.54.
Holding more than a 10 to 1 chip lead over his opponent it was no surprise that the heads-up battle was not much of one. Here is a look at how the match started:
Seat 4: queenmillion (24,854,512 in chips)
Seat 8: sergiuo (396,741,488 in chips)
The match only lasted two hands with queenmillion winning the first hand but losing the second one. The hand was an all-in pre-flop affair that saw queenmillion holding J♥T♦ against sergiuo's K♥K♦. The board ran out A♣9♣4♠A♠T♠. queenmillion collects $7,042.36 for second while sergiuo takes home $10,207.31.
Congrats to sergiuo on your win.
