MicroMillions II: 2aces55 diffuses Bombjacker, wins Event #86 ($1 NLHE)

micromillions-thumb-blog.pngBuy the ticket, take the ride. Turn $1 into $2,200. The MicroMillions II is in its home stretch and 25,016 players flocked to the virtual felt this afternoon hoping to do just that. Together, they created a $22,764.56 prize pool and 3,150 players earned a share of it, with first place set to earn $2,292.17. MicroMillions Ironman Andre Coimbra was the only Red Spade who bought into this event and he busted out about halfway through the field.

Blinds were up to 250,000/500,000 with ten players remaining. Chip leader DMansell opened for a min-raise on the button and Gumid1 three-bet shoved for 6.9 million from the big blind with A♦6♣. DMansell had him dominated, his A♥Q♠ holding up on the king-high board to send us to the final table.

Final table chip counts:

Seat 1: soffy194 (5,559,874 in chips)
Seat 2: Bombjacker (13,844,128 in chips)
Seat 3: pirlo80er (11,132,480 in chips)
Seat 4: peke moensj (7,146,612 in chips)
Seat 5: shirinElvin (9,459,128 in chips)
Seat 6: 2aces55 (20,945,158 in chips)
Seat 7: Medialancer (9,474,326 in chips)
Seat 8: Squiggy506 (571,837 in chips)
Seat 9: DMansell (46,946,457 in chips)

Early eliminations

Squiggy506 squeaked onto the final table with little more than one big blind after doubling up soffy194 on the bubble when his J♦7♦ didn't improve against A♦T♠. Squiggy506 put the last of his chips in the pot on the first hand of the final table, moving all-in for 509,000 from UTG+1. 2aces55 called from the big blind, his 4♦7♦ trailing A♠T♠. 2aces55, however, caught two pair on the K♥7♥4♠ flop and filled up when the 7♣ hit the turn, ending Squiggy506's run in ninth place.

Two hands later, soffy194 shoved for 5.37 million from UTG and DMansell looked him up from the big blind. Although soffy194 was in good shape with 7♥7♣ against 7♠8♥, an eight hit the flop for DMansell and another hit the river, sending soffy194 home in eighth place.

Bombjacker picks up steam

Bombjacker moved up to second in chips after crippling pirlo80er, his K♥T♥ flopping the nut flush against pirlo80er's A♠2♣. The money went in on the turn when pirlo80er turned aces up, but he could not recover. Bombjacker doubled to 26.5 million while pirlo80er was left with only 976,000. Bombjacker picked up a 22 million pot two hands later from DMansell. Bombjacker called DMansell's preflop, flop, and turn bets on the A♣2♣5♥4♠ board before the board paired with the 4♦ on the river. DMansell checked, Bombjacker made it 5 million to go, and DMansell called, mucking in the face of Bombjacker's A♠Q♣.

2aces55 KOs two, Bombjacker picks off peke moensi

Soon enough, pirlo80er's last 400,000 went in the middle and both DMansell and 2aces55 called, checking the 4♥3♠5♥T♣J♦ board to the river, when DMansell bet 600,000. 2aces55 called and turned over K♦J♠ for top pair. DMansell's T♠6♥ was no good and 2aces55 took down both the main and side pots, eliminating pirlo80er in seventh place.

2aces55 added even more to his stack a few hands later. After limping in for 600,000 UTG, 2aces55 called shirinElvin's 4.6 million shove from the big blind. 2aces55's A♦2♦ flopped an ace against shirinElvin's J♥4♦ and held up to win the 9.94 million pot. For his sixth-place finish, shirinElvin picked up $455,29.

Peke moensi was the next short stack to make a move, getting his last 3.27 million in before the flop with K♣8♥. Bombjacker looked him up with A♦9♦. Although peke moensi paired his eight on the flop, Bombjacker spiked a river ace to send peke moensi to the rail. He collected $682.93 for his fifth-place finish.

DMansell melts down

Until now, DMansell held a comfortable chip lead, but he saw his entire stack disappear in the space of three hands. First, he doubled up short stack Medialancer when his A♣8♥ failed to improve against pocket sixes. Then, Bombjacker pilfered his stack in this 33.2 million pot where DMansell folded to Bombjacker's river raise:

Bombjacker snagged the rest of DMansell's stack a few minutes later. With the blinds up to 500,000/1,000,000, DMansell open-shoved for 19.9 million holding A♣9♠, only to run into Bombjacker's J♣J♠. DMansell got no help on the Q♦8♠7♠K♠8♥ board and bowed out in fourth place, earning $910.58.

2aces55 mauls Medialancer

With three players remaining, Bombjacker held a dominating lead with 84.7 million, 2aces55 was second in chips with 30.2 million and Medialancer was on the short stack with 10.1 million. Although Medialancer scored a double-up courtesy of Bombjacker, his A♣9♦ holding against K♣9♣, his tournament came to an end after getting the rest of his chips in on a Q♠J♥8♥ flop against 2aces55. 2aces55 flopped the joint with 9♣T♦ and Medialancer's flush draw did not come in with Q♥3♥. For his third-place finish, Medialancer scored $1,138.22.

Heads-up chip counts:

Seat 2: Bombjacker (75,758,417 in chips)
Seat 6: 2aces55 (49,321,583 in chips)

2aces55 went straight to work against Bombjacker, picking up back-to-back pots to move into the chip lead with 68.3 million to Bombjacker's 56.7 million. 2aces55 ground his stack up to 95 million, then picked up three streets of value when his K♦6♠ flopped top pair and turned two pair. Bombjacker was down to 17.1 million when he three-bet shoved K♦8♦ and 2aces55 called with A♣T♠. It looked all but over for Bombjacker on the A♠Q♣4♣ flop, but Bombjacker caught the K♣ and the 8♥ on the turn and river to make a runner-runner two pair.

Back up to 40 million, Bombjacker doubled again when his A♠7♣ hung on against 2aces55's Q♥J♣. Bombjacker gobbled up 14 of the next 16 pots to move up to 108 mllion in chips before 2aces55 got his chance for revenge. All-in with A♣4♥ against Bombjacker's K♣3♣, 2aces55 turned a Broadway straight against Bombjacker's top pair, the board running out K♦J♥T♥Q♠K♠ to double his stack to 32.5 million.

Two hands later, 2aces55 picked up another monster pot after flopping a full house and value-betting it to perfection:

With 2aces55 sitting on 52.2 million to Bombjacker's 72.8 million, things were essentially back to where they started when heads-up play began. That didn't prevent 2aces55 from making a big move, three-betting to 9.4 million with K♦5♦ and calling Bombjacker's four-bet shove. Bombjacker turned over A♥Q♠, but 2aces55 flopped a king to double up to 104.4 million.

Two hands later, 2aces55 closed it out. Bombjacker open-shoved for 16.9 million with Q♦J♦ and 2aces55 called with K♣8♣. King-high was good on the T♥6♦4♥7♠3♦ board, sealing the win for 2aces55.

Congratulations to 2aces55 on a brilliant come-from-behind victory. He earned $2,292.17 for the win while runner-up Bombjacker scored $1,6911.63.
