MicroMillions II: DonkDeezNutz destroys final table in Event #19 ($4.40 NLHE 4-max)
It was one of those final tables that could have easily gone on for hours. Stacks were deep, blinds were low, and the stage was set for a hard-fought slog to the finish. Today, however, DonkDeezNutz woke up ready for battle and steamrolled his opponents at the final table, eliminating four of his final five opponents en route to a MicroMillions title.
14,017 players put up $4.40 apiece for this event, creating a $56,068 prize pool. 1,800 of them earned a share of it with first place set to earn $5,178.52. MicroMillions Ironman and Team Pro Andre Coimbra was joined in this event by Team Online's Sigge "ClarkKent89" Reichard, both of them exiting about two-thirds of the way through the field.
With six players remaining, the 11.7 million average amounted to 73 big blinds. DonkDeezNutz made his standard 3x-raise to 480,000 from the small blind and short stack tecnicocosta three-bet shoved for 22 big blinds holding 3♥3♠. DonkDeezNutz turned out to have a real hand and called with A♣J♣. Although tecnicocosta's baby pair held up through the turn, DonkDeezNutz spiked an ace on the river to eliminate him on the final table bubble.
Final table chip counts:
Seat 1: DonkDeezNutz (11,550,480 in chips)
Seat 2: fedepina (10,486,613 in chips)
Seat 3: laampaaa (16,886,537 in chips)
Seat 4: Sobrinonieto (23,179,042 in chips)
Seat 5: bitter4u (7,982,328 in chips)
It took only two hands before the five-handed final table was reduced to four players. Bitter4u limped in from UTG, and both laampaaa and Sobrininieto came along from the blinds. Laampaaa checked to Sobrinonieto on the 6♦4♦3♣ flop. Sobrinonieto bet 290,000 and only bitter4u called. The 5♠ on the turn put four to a straight on the board and the rest of their money went in, Sobrinonieto turning up 7♠8♦ for the top end while bitter4u revealed K♣2♣ for the bottom end. The 2♠ on the river sent bitter4u to the rail in fifth place for a $711.50 payday.
Despite the deep stacks, talk of an even four-handed split broke out, both Sobrinonieto and laampaaa revealing that they were weary from playing so many hours. The quartet agreed to pause the action and when presented with the chip-count chop numbers, all four quickly agreed to the terms, leaving $800 in play for the winner.
Cards went back in the air and it took two more levels before anyone made a move. WIth the blinds at 125,000/250,000, laampaaa opened for 575,000 from UTG, then called DonkDeezNutz's 2.25 million three-bet from the small blind. DonkDeezNutz led out for 2.75 million on the A♦7♣7♥ flop and laampaaa smooth-called. The rest of DonkDeezNutz's stack went in when the 8♣ hit the turn and laampaa called, revealing A♠4♠. It was no match for DonkDeezNutz's A♣K♣, the Q♣ landing on the river to make him the nut flush. DonkDeezNutz raked in the 24.6 million pot while laampaaa exited in fourth place, his share of the deal totaling $2,542.76.
Would you believe me if I said only eight more hands were played in the entire tournament? And what if I told you DonkDeezNutz won all of them?
Three hands later, DonkDeezNutz and fedepina saw a T♣6♣2♥ flop. DonkDeezNutz check-called 828,750 from fedepina. The rest of their money went in when the J♥ fell on the turn, DonkDeezNutz check-raising to 4.25 million, then calling fedpina's 7.06 million shove. DonzDeezNutz turned up J♦2♦ for two pair, snapping off fedepina's T♦8♠. The J♠ on the river filled DonkDeezNutz's boat and fedepina departed in third place, earning $1,959.14.
Heads-up chip counts:
Seat 1: DonkDeezNutz (44,198,103 in chips) 147 big blinds
Seat 4: Sobrinonieto (25,886,897 in chips) 86 big blinds
Given the stack sizes, this match could have easily lasted hours, but was over inside of five hands. Holding 3♠4♠, DonkDeezNutz opened for a 3x raise to 900,000, then called Sobrinonieto's three-bet to 1.5 million. DonkDeezNutz lived up to his name and flopped a wheel on the A♥2♠5♥ flop. All the money went in, Sobrinonieto turning up K♥2♥ for bottom pair and a flush draw. DonkDeezNutz faded the heart and improved to a six-high straight, the turn and river falling the 4♣ and the 6♠.
Congratulations to DonkDeezNutz on a dominating performance and his first MicroMillions title. He earned $3,187.52 for the win. Not all was lost for runner-up Sobrinonieto; our sleepy Irishman took the largest share of the prize pool at $3,563.49 thanks to the four-way deal.
