MicroMillions III: 28overAA overwhelms final table and wins Event #79 Triple Draw

The slimmest of margins separated the final two players -- 28overAA and shizo_1291. Almost even in chips, the two squared off in a pugilistic battle that would make the biggest boxing fan in the world salivate. The final two did not waste any time dancing around and went right after each other with brazen intensity. Shot for shot. Blow for blow. 28overAA eventually landed a lethal combination and knocked out shizo_1291 en route to becoming the latest MicroMillions III champion.

Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball is a game that rewards discipline but at the same time, you have to have a little gamble in you to truly succeed. MicroMillions III Event #79 $3.30 FL Triple Draw 2-7 attracted 2,399 runners. The prize pool was $7,197 and the top 300 places got a cut of the money with $1,134.85 set aside to the eventual champion.

Team PokerStars Pro Marcin "Goral" Horecki has been on a heater this series and currently sits atop of the leader board with 420 points. Approximately four hours into Event #79, the money bubble burst and Goral was in the Top 50 in chips guaranteeing himself yet another cash. Unfortunately, Goral did not get a chance to win his second MicroMillions III event when he busted in 103rd place after his J-7-5-3-2 lost to llenny's 9-8-5-4-3.

With 36 to go on the final six table, bobbyperu00 became the first player to pass 1 million in chips. With 7 to go, action went hand-for-hand and hilda_cd held the lead with 2.5 million. It would end up being the chipleader hilda_cd who knocked out victor-10961 in seventh place. victor-10961's low was Q-8-7-6-4, which was barely edged out by hilda_cd's low J-8-5-3-2. hilda_cd dragged the pot and victor-10961 bubbled off the final table.

bobbyperu00 eliminated in 6th place

The final table played for less than a full level before we saw the first casualty when one of the short stacks bowed out.

28overAA raised to 160,000, bobbyperu00 three-bet to 240,000, shizo_1291 called, and 28overAA called. Three players. On the first draw, 28overAA discarded two, bobbyperu00 discarded one, and shizo_1291 discarded two. When it was time for betting... 28overAA checked, bobbyperu00 bet 80,000, shizo_1291 called and 28overAA called.

On the second draw, we saw a repeat of the first draw: 28overAA discarded two, bobbyperu00 discarded one, and shizo_1291 discarded two. During the betting round... 28overAA fired out 160,000, bobbyperu00 raised all-in for 169,866, shizo_1291 folded, and 28overAA called. Heads-up with one player all-in.

On the third and final draw, 28overAA stood pat and bobbyperu00 discarded one. At showdown... 28overAA held 8-5-4-3-2 for a qualifying low, while bobbyperu00 paired up with 4-4-8-7-2. Ireland's bobbyperu00 became the first player to bust off the final table and collected $143.79 for sixth place.

daisydonut eliminated in 5th place

In the second level after the final table began, we saw a second bustout.

Short-stacked daisydonut opened with a raise to 200,000, shizo_1291 bumped it up to 300,000, daisydonut shoved all-in for 370,242, and shizo_1291 called. On the first draw, daisydonut stood pat and shizo_1291 discarded three. On the second draw, daisydonut stood pat and shizo_1291 discarded two. On the third and final draw, daisydonut stood pat and shizo_1291 discarded one. At showdown, shizo_1291 finally got there with a qualifying low of 8-5-4-3-2, which was good enough to win the pot. Although daisydonut was dealt a low of 8-7-6-5-2, he was run down and knocked out. New Zealand's daisydonut earned $269.88 for fifth place.

With four remaining, kiwiqueenz retained the lead with 4.2 million, while hilda_cd was the short stack with only 2.1 million.

hilda_cd eliminated in 4th place

Within the first twenty-three minutes of the final table, three players hit the road. The next player to bite the dust was hilda_cd. It started when hilda_cd opened to 240,000, kiwiqueenz three-bet to 360,000, hilda_cd capped it with a four-bet of 480,000 and kiwiqueenz called.

On the first draw, hilda_cd discarded one and kiwiqueenz stood pat. hilda_cd checked, kiwiqueenz bet 120,000, and hilda_cd called. On the second draw, hilda_cd discarded one and kiwiqueenz stood pat. hilda_cd checked, kiwiqueenz bet 240,000, and hilda_cd called all-in for 174,01. On the third and final draw, it was a reprise of the initial two draws with hilda_cd discarding one and kiwiqueenz staying pat.

At showdown... hilda_cd's 9-7-6-5-2 lost to kiwiqueenz's 7-6-5-4-2. Alas, kiwiqueenz won the pot and hilda_cd busted in fourth place, which paid out $413.82.

kiwiqueenz eliminated in 3rd place

When three-handed began, the chips were almost evenly dispersed among the remaining players. They each saw a MicroMillions III championship on the horizon. After eight hours of play, it came down to who had the most heart and who could pull off the most daring draw.

Roughly thirty minutes into the final table, kiwiqueenz's stack incurred a big hit and quickly started treading water with a short stack. kiwiqueenz was determined to doubled up in a hand against 28overAA. kiwiqueenz opened to 240,000 and 28overAA called.

On the first draw, kiwiqueenz discarded one and 28overAA discarded three. kiwiqueenz moved all-in for 84,283, and 28overAA called. On the second draw, kiwiqueenz discarded one and 28overAA stood pat. On the third draw, kiwiqueenz discarded one and 28overAA stood pat.

At showdown... kiwiqueenz mustered up 10-8-6-3-2, but that was not good enough to defeat 28overAA. After drawing three on the first draw, 28overAA secured a low of 7-6-5-4-2. That was good enough to win and kiwiqueenz was knocked out in third place, which paid out $611.74.

HEADS-UP: 28overAA (Sweden) vs. shizo_1291 (Switzerland)
Seat 3: 28overAA (5,882,447)
Seat 6: shizo_1291 (6,112,553)

Only 230K separated the two. In the first level of heads-up, shizo_1291 coughed up the slim lead when 28overAA opened up a 5 million chip gap over shizo_1291. But shizo_1291 instantly regrouped during the rest of that level and launched a successful counter attack to get back to almost par. shizo_1291 even seized the lead momentarily, before 28overAA unleashed a flurry of punches and won those chips right back.

28overAA won a couple of hands in a row (for 2.2 million and 2.5 million) and built up a massive lead -- 9.4 million to 2.5 million. The first hand was truly a soul crusher... shizo_1291 lost with 9-8-7-4-3 against 28overAA's 9-8-7-3-2.

Although shizo_1291 was on the ropes and on the verge of succumbing to the pressure, shizo_1291 jumped back into the game and doubled up to avoid elimination after winning a 5.1 million pot with 7-6-5-3-2 against 28overAA's 8-6-4-3-2.

After twenty minutes of relentless heads-up play, the idea of a chop was floated. In what might have been the fastest negotiations in MicroMillions history, the final two instantly agreed on taking $931.25 each, leaving $100 on the table for the eventual champion.

When action resumed, 28overAA won three out of four hands in a row and accumulated a stack worth over 11.5 million, which left shizo_1291 with a gaunt stack of 445K. The deck hit 28overAA in the face and his winning hands in that span included... 9-7-5-4-2, 8-7-6-5-2, and 8-6-4-3-2. Although shizo_1291 stopped the bleeding by winning two consecutive pots, it wasn't enough to stop the assault on the remainder of his stack.

shizo_1291 eliminated in 2nd place; 28overAA wins MicroMillions III Event #79

Thirty minutes after heads-up began, 28overAA landed the fatal blow. shizo_1291 opened with a raise to 400,000 and 28overAA called. On the first draw, 28overAA discarded three and shizo_1291 discarded two. When it came time to bet, 28overAA fired out 200,000 and shizo_1291 called. On the second draw, both players discarded one. 28overAA bet 400,000, shizo_1291 raised to 800,000, 28overAA three-bet to 1.2 million, and shizo_1291 called all-in for 180,424. On the third and final draw, 28overAA stood pat and shizo_1291's hopes rest on his final draw. One card.

At showdown, the players tabled their cards. shizo_1291 could only put together a Jack-high low with J-7-5-4-2. On the third draw, he was drawing to a better hand than 28overAA but whiffed. Alas, by the end of the second draw, 28overAA stood pat with 8-7-5-3-2. It was good enough for 28overAA to win the pot and secure a victory, while shizo_1291 was knocked out in second place. For a gutsy runner-up performance, shizo_1291 earned $931.25.

Congrats to Sweden's 28overAA for winning Event #79 Triple Draw 2-7 Lowball and taking home a first place prize of $1,031.25.
