MicroMillions: NIck_Sem177 wins for Kazakhstan in Event #35 $2.20 NLHE 6-Max

micromillions-thumb-blog.pngOne of the great things that I've noticed so far in the PokerStars MicroMillions is the diverse nationalities that we find deep into these tournaments. The Canadians and the Germans appear to have been prominent, but again today for Event #35 we've seen very international final table with NIck_Sem177 putting a win on the board for Kazakhstan.

It was the $2.20 No Limit Holdem 6-Max Event which boasted a $15,000 prizepool guarantee. However, guarantees are made to be broken as a massive 10,410 players tossed over a couple of shiny dollar coins for their chance at the $20,820 in cash prizes.

A total of 1,350 players would finish in profit, with a minimum cash worth $3.53. Probably not enough to be too upset over, but we're sure that raulin135 from Spain will still be pretty bummed to bubble and miss out on recording a cash result in a MicroMillions event.

Marcin "Goral" Horecki from Poland was the highest finishing Team PokerStars Pro, coming in at a respectable 658th place for a $5.62 payout.

It was a slow grind over the last four tables but the final table bubble burst in rather exciting fashion with simultaneous eliminations on each of the two tables to see the final table commence five-handed.

Toxjke won a monster pot, making the preflop call with A♣K♦ after eoseosoe had three-bet shoved with A♦Q♣. It was a cooler of a hand when play is three-handed and Toxjke's hand held on the 9♣7♥T♣K♥3♠ board.

Toxjke shot into the chip lead as eoseosoe was crippled. Eoseosoe moved two big blinds in preflop moments later with T♠3♠ as smokeshow99 had to call with T♣9♥. Eoseosoe couldn't improve as smokeshow99 made a straight on the 8♣K♦Q♠2♦J♠ board to see eoseosoe bubble the final table.

However at the same time on the other table, the short-stacked Flamersmoon moved all in with J♣T♠ as NIck_Sem177 made the call with 8♥Q♥. The board fell 9♦6♥5♣A♥Q♣ to pair up NIck_Sem177's queen and eliminate Flamersmoon in 6th place for $291.89 in prize money.

With that flurry of activity out of the way, the official final table was formed with five players left.

Final table lineup
Seat 1: NIck_Sem177 (12,531,874 in chips)
Seat 2: smokeshow99 (12,075,916 in chips)
Seat 3: Cr1sT1anO_71 (7,603,572 in chips)
Seat 4: DWCHAPIN (3,916,040 in chips)
Seat 5: (empty)
Seat 6: Toxjke (15,922,598 in chips)

With the blinds at 150k/300k/37.5k, DWCHAPIN entered the final table with some work to do as the short stack. After slipping down a little, DWCHAPIN picked up A♣8♠ in the big blind which was good to move all in following an open raise from Cr1sT1anO_71 in the small blind. Cr1sT1anO_71 decided the price was right to gamble with his Q♠2♦ and it paid off when the board ran out 3♣J♣6♣6♦2♥. A lowly pair of ducks on the river was enough to send DWCHAPIN to the rail in 5th place for $416.40 in prize money.

Cr1sT1anO_71 continued to be aggressive and experienced a rollercoaster ride of swings throughout the final table. Cr1sT1anO_71 was fortunate to stay alive after catching a three-outer in the following hand:

"lmao" was all smokeshow99 could say as the chips slipped from his stack just before a much-needed break.

The break was a convenient time for deal discussions to surface as Cr1sT1anO_71 decided to reduce some of his own variance and put the idea out there. Both smokeshow99 and Toxjke seemed willing to talk, however it was NIck_Sem177 who threw a spanner in the works.

Cr1sT1anO_71 said, "nick?"
NIck_Sem177 said, "no"
smokeshow99 said, "ok folks, good luck to all"

And with that, it was game on.

Smokeshow99 doubled up through Toxjke with a turned flush against top pair, as Toxjke was on the short stack when shoving a little over ten big blinds with A♥T♠. Cr1sT1anO_71 was again in the thick of the action after making the call in the big blind with a dominated T♥K♠ but spiked a king on the 8♦Q♥K♦Q♦Q♣ board. The full house sent Toxjke home with $832.80 for 4th place.

Cr1sT1anO_71 continued the momentum with a full house over full house to double through smokeshow99 as Cr1sT1anO_71 bulldozed into a healthy lead. But the aggressive nature of Cr1sT1anO_71's play, and a little bad luck, brought it all crashing down just as quickly.

The luck went the way of NIck_Sem177 after catching an ace on the river to pair the A♦8♣ to crack Cr1sT1anO_71's pocket kings. Moments later it was another cruel river as Cr1sT1anO_71 made a straight holding 7♦6♣ on the 5♥8♥2♠3♥4♣ board, only to see NIck_Sem177 table Q♥J♥ for the flush for yet another double.

However the most painful blow for Cr1sT1anO_71 must have been the following hand:

A third nasty river left Cr1sT1anO_71 crippled and despite two double ups, it wasn't to be three as Cr1sT1anO_71's A♥3♠ was no match for NIck_Sem177's A♦T♣ when the board ran out 5♠4♦A♣K♦Q♦. An entertaining run by Cr1sT1anO_71 ended in 3rd place for $1,457.40 in prize money.

"gl" said NIck_Sem177 as heads-up play commenced with NIck_Sem177 holding a near two-to-one chip advantage over smokeshow99.

The heads-up battle was intense with quite a lot of three-betting and some solid play displayed. Smokeshow99 chipped away but NIck_Sem177 fought back into a strong position and appeared set to win the title with pocket jacks against pocket deuces with all the chips in preflop. However a lucky duck on the flop for smokeshow99 somehow kept the game alive.

The chips went back and forth before a bit of a cooler saw NIck_Sem177 fire three barrels of value on a board of 4♦K♦T♥8♦4♠, with the final bet enough to put smokeshow99 to a decision for all of the chips. After a little thought, smokeshow99 made the call with K♠T♦ for top two pair, but NIck_Sem177 held 5♦3♦ for a baby flush which was good to take the pot and the title!

smokeshow99 collected $2,082 for 2nd place as NIck_Sem177's decision to avoid a deal paid dividends after winning the MicroMillions title and $3,025.90 in prize money.
