MicroMillions 4: No bluff, imdabluff83 wins Event #57 ($8.80 NLHE Turbo Shootout KO)

Imdabluff83 was a player that stayed under the radar through the first hour of the final table. While other players were mixing it up, imdabluff83 was quietly accumulating through a series of pots. Even during three-handed play, imdabluff83 stayed out of the way until heads-up with vinnix6316, and a key double-up changed everything. Imdabluff83 took the force of those chips straight to victory.

MicroMillions organizers try to set a guarantee that comes close to the estimated prize pool and encourages players to participate. Sometimes, they underestimate the popularity of a particular tournament. Such was the case in Event 57 of MicroMillions 4.

With an $8.80 buy-in and turbo structure of five-minute levels, Event 57 exceeded all expectations. Maybe it was the Shootout format to which many SNG players relate. Perhaps it was the Knockout addition that awarded $4.20 for each player eliminated from the tournament. Whatever the reasons, thousands of players wanted to participate and brought big action to this "little tournament.

With no late registration, the numbers were available just after the start of the tournament:

Players: 6,317
Guarantee: $10,000.00
Prize pool: $53,062.80
Regular prize pool: $26,531.40
Bounty prize pool: $26,531.40
Paid players: 512

The plan to win starts with making it into the money. Players who won their Round 1 tables and then succeeded in Round 2 were guaranteed a min-cash of $19.89 for making it to Round 3.

The 64 players who made it to Round 4 were guaranteed at least $106.12 for their efforts, and that round began just past the four-hour mark. The tournament was racing forward. Those who won their tables would head to the singular final table with more than $3.5K awaiting the winner.

The first table to complete during that round was #2, at which misha4ka85 defeated TheBlankman to win a seat in Round 5. Table 6 was next to finish as vinnix6316 defeated Cezar6666. Other tables finished as Angelnox11 took out Maaate, betMANyatko defeated RDobbelstein, WelshViking sent *Tabse04* to the virtual rail, and riverjux took out LEHMATLENTAA.

On Table 8, sk@tedude pushed nearly 8K chips all-in with A♥7♣, and palemanuel19 called with Q♠Q♣. The board came 7♠8♣8♦Q♦6♦, and palemanuel19 used that full house to eliminate sk@tedude in tenth place with $106.12, plus the money earned for nine knockouts.

Moments later, on Table 1, dirty bit1 risked 8K chips all-in with A♥8♠, and imdabluff83 was there with K♥6♥. The flop of K♦6♦3♥ gave imdabluff83 two pair, which held up to the Q♠ turn and 2♥ river to eliminate dirty bit1 in ninth place with $106.12.

After 30 minutes of play, the chip counts were as follows:

Seat 1: imdabluff83 (7,120 in chips)
Seat 2: misha4ka85 (3,968 in chips)
Seat 3: riverjux (3,509 in chips)
Seat 4: WelshViking (2,736 in chips)
Seat 5: betMANyatko (3,513 in chips)
Seat 6: vinnix6316 (8,665 in chips)
Seat 7: Angelnox11 (4,741 in chips)
Seat 8: palemanuel19 (5,748 in chips)

Vinnix6316 jumped out to a solid lead without the benefit of any big hands, while WelshViking took a significant hit from imdabluff83 to lose ground and become the short stack.

BetMANyatko was in a bit of trouble with a stack that hovered around 3K, and when betMANyatko raised only to get reraised by vinnix6316, betMANyatko pushed all-in with 8♥8♣. Vinnix6316 called with a dominating T♠T♣, and the board of 3♣9♣3♥7♣6♦ eliminated betMANyatko in eighth place. The payout was $198.98 plus the 10 bounties earned throughout the tournament.

Riverjux was the next player to make a move. The hand started with a middle position raise from misha4ka85, and riverjux reraised all-in with A♥Q♣. Everyone else folded, and misha4ka85 called with K♦K♥. That hand only improved on the 7♠9♣K♠ flop to a set, and the 2♥ turn and A♠ river ousted riverjux from the tournament in seventh place with $397.97, along with the payment from nine bounties.

Angelnox11 had some trouble at this table and took a hit of losing a 2K pot to vinnix6316. Two hands later, Angelnox11 pushed all-in for 525 chips from early position. Misha4ka85 creraised all-in from the small blind, and WelshViking folded the big blind. Angelnox11 was on the line with A♠T♣, but misha4ka85 was ahead with A♣K♣. Nothing about the 3♦4♠Q♦2♣4♣ board changed the outcome, and Angelnox11 exited in sixth place with $596.95, plus money from an impressive 14 bounties collected along the way.

WelshViking makes valiant effort

The former short stack began to turn things around with this double-up through palemanuel19:

Things got heated a few rounds later. WelshViking raised preflop from the button, vinnix6316 called, and palemanuel19 raised. Both other players called, and the flop came 3♣A♠T♣. WelshViking bet, and vinnix6316 raised, which prompted palemanuel19 to fold with 212 chips behind. WelshViking called all-in with A♣T♥ for top two pair, and vinnix6316 showed K♣2♣ for the flush draw. That flush made it with the 4♣ on the turn, and the Q♦ on the river officially sent WelshViking (who won a MicroMillions a year ago) out in fifth place with $928.59 and money from 11 bounties.

On the next hand, palemanuel19 was all-in on the small blind with K♥6♠, and vinnix6316 raised to isolate with 6♦6♥, which worked. The board came 7♣T♠9♥7♦3♣, and palemanuel19 was forced out in fourth place with $1,459.22 and money earned from 11 bounties.

The final three players paused the tournament to discuss a deal, but talks fell through when there was a disagreement between chip-chop numbers and ICM. When play resumed, misha4ka85 got involved with vinnix6316 to see a raised flop of 3♥9♥6♦. Misha4ka85 bet, vinnix6316 raised, and misha4ka85 raised all-in with 9♦9♠. Vinnix6316 called with 8♥7♦ for the draw, which came to be as the board finished with 5♥ and T♣. Misha4ka85 and the set of nines were only good enough for a third place finish, which came with $1,989.85 and the money from 10 bounties.

Duel for the final duo

The last two players started their match as follows:

Seat 1: imdabluff83 (10,295 in chips)
Seat 6: vinnix6316 (29,705 in chips)

These two players also paused the tournament to look at deal numbers, but imdabluff83 chose not to deal. Play resumed.

Imdabluff83 immediately chipped up via a pot worth 10 million chips, and the gap between chip counts was closing quickly. But then imdabluff83 completely turned the tables on the match:

Vinnix6316 doubled back a few hands later with straight over straight, and then again with a flush to get back over the 11K mark. Another double put the chip counts close to even:

But imdabluff83 was determined to retake the chip lead and did it with a pot worth 23,830 chips. Vinnix6316 did double again with a set of fives, but imdabluff83 had momentum.

The final hand saw vinnix6316 move all-in for 7,640 chips with K♣7♣, and imdabluff83 called with K♠T♠. The board came 6♦7♥T♥K♦J♦, and vinnix6316 was out in second place with $2,520.48 plus 14 bounties.

Imdabluff83 of the UK won the MicroMillions title, $3,585.92 from the prize pool, and additional money earned from 15 knockouts during the tournament. Congrats!
