MicroMillions 4: Rotbert83 runs riot in Event #33 ($2.20+R NLHE 2xTurbo)

It must be a great feeling to run like God in a poker tournament. You feel invincible as whatever you touch turns to gold. We're not saying that Rotbert83 didn't also use plenty of skill to reach a MicroMillions final table, but when your opponents almost agree to a deal that will give you significantly more than first place prize money, then you know things are going well. It didn't matter that the deal fell through, as Rotbert83 continued to dominate to emerge victorious.

The event was Event #33 of the MicroMillions 4 schedule with 22,372 players coming together for the popular $2.20 No Limit Holdem Rebuy 2xTurbo event. The 63,411 rebuys and 13,546 add-ons helped to build a massive prize pool of $198.658.00 which was well over double the advertised guarantee.

There were a number of Team PokerStars Pros playing in this event with the healthy prize pool up for grabs. Toni Judet, Grzegorz Mikielewicz, Christophe de Meulder, Victor Ramdin, Humberto Brenes and Matthias de Meulder were all spotted in the field, but sadly were eliminated short of the money.

MasterVuDo from the Ukraine was the unfortunate bubble, eliminated in 3,151st place to miss the $13.90 min-cash by the narrowest of margins.

Andre Coimbra (2,912nd -$13.90), Tyler Frost (2,191st - $19.86) and Martin Hrubý (1,944th - $21.85) all finished in the cash, but the Team PokerStars last longer went to Shane Schleger (202nd - $89.39).

A huge hand exploded on the final table bubble, with kkriger putting in a huge four-bet with Q♥T♦ but couldn't shake chip leader Rotbert83 who called with A♠J♣. The flop of K♦8♦A♦ paired Rotbert83 but kkriger picked up flush and straight outs to win the pot. However the turn and river bricked out to see kkriger eliminated in 10th place and our final table set as follows:

Final Table Line up
Seat 1: cardlo69 (32,242,395 in chips)
Seat 2: Bruse76 (28,000,805 in chips)
Seat 3: Doug*Dutra (37,198,948 in chips)
Seat 4: Pik_König (18,274,601 in chips)
Seat 5: biex (8,823,641 in chips)
Seat 6: toontoon76 (24,125,354 in chips)
Seat 7: zongo1 (18,879,474 in chips)
Seat 8: GiM9Y (11,197,930 in chips)
Seat 9: Rotbert83 (128,282,852 in chips)

Rotbert83 held a massive chip lead but with the blinds kicking off at 600k/1.2M/120k there was plenty of opportunity for the short stacks to get back into contention.

Big pairs were the order of the day in the early goings with zongo1 landing a double with K♦K♥ against Bruse76's J♥J♦, before biex did likewise with K♣K♥ against cardlo69's Q♥Q♣.

It was a three-way all in that brought our first elimination with a suckout and a double elimination:

cardlo69 caught a third snowman and that was enough to dispatch Bruse76 in 9th ($1,192.94) and Pik_König in 8th ($1,787.92).

They were soon followed by GiM9Y who attempted a steal from the big blind holding T♣8♦. With plenty of chips to spare, Rotbert83 was happy to call with Q♠5♥ which proved to be the best hand. The board fell 6♦A♠3♥K♥7♠ to see GiM9Y derailed in 7th place for $2,791.14 in prize money.

toontoon76 secured a nice double up with ace-queen against Rotbert83's ace-ten, but Rotbert83 had better luck with a dominated ace against zongo1. Rotbert83 three-bet jammed with A♦7♣ but zongo1 made the call with A♠J♥. zongo1 looked set for a big double up but the poker Gods had other ideas as the board was spread 5♠7♦K♣2♥3♠ to leave zongo1 on the rail in 6th place for a $3,973.16 score.

Just two hands later and Rotbert83 was at it again, this time with another brutal suckout to eliminate Doug*Dutra:

Doug*Dutra's ace-queen was in great shape, but Rotbert83 wheeled in another remarkable pot to end the run of Doug*Dutra in 5th place for $5,959.74.

Suddenly we were down to four players and with the clock paused to discuss a deal, it gave everyone a chance to catch their breath. Rotbert83 had a monstrous chip lead, and the initial chip chop numbers offered Rotbert83 well in excess of first place prize money. Once that was finally spotted, the players looked at ICM numbers which were a little closer to the mark.

However Rotbert83 wanted extra with such a big lead, while cardlo69 was feeling pretty confident, despite a stack of less than eight big blinds:

cardlo69 says, "i still don't. I need 11k. i'm the best player here, up 250k on stars. sharkscope me."

After 17 minutes of a whole lot of nothing, the players agreed to disagree and play resumed with no change to the payouts.

It proved to be unfavourable for biex, who was next to be eliminated. biex was crippled in a clash with toontoon76. biex raised the small blind, toontoon76 moved all in from the big blind and biex made the call with A♣J♦. toontoon76 showed K♥T♠ and looked in danger of being eliminated when the first four community cards arrived 9♦A♥K♠6♥, but a perfect T♣ on the river gave toontoon76 the double up and left biex with less than one big blind.

Next hand biex moved it in with A♦Q♣ and was up against Rotbert83's 6♥9♠ but the board fell 6♠5♥8♥7♦8♣ to give Rotbert83 a straight for the fatal strike. biex had to be content with $7,946.32 for 4th place.

cardlo69 was confident but it took a bit of lady luck to secure a double up after getting it in with A♦T♦ against Rotbert83's A♣J♣. Two diamonds on the flop and another on the turn saw cardlo69 get back into contention.

However the comeback was short-lived as the luck went back home to Rotbert83. cardlo69 three-bet jammed with 8♥8♣ and Rotbert83 made the call with A♣6♣. The flop was 9♥T♥6♦ and the turn K♣ missed both, but the A♠ was the magical ace from space for Rotbert83 to deliver yet another devastating knockout. cardlo69 ended with $9,932.90 for 3rd place.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 6: toontoon76 (61,381,416 in chips)
Seat 9: Rotbert83 (245,644,584 in chips)

One hand. That's all it would take for Rotbert83 to finish the job. toontoon76 min-raised the button before Rotbert83 jammed all in. toontoon76 still had about twenty big blinds behind, but perhaps a little frustrated with Rotbert83's aggression, toontoon76 decided that K♣4♠ was good enough to call in the hope that king-high was in front. It wasn't, as Rotbert83 showed A♦5♦. The board fell A♣8♣9♠3♥4♦ to leave toontoon76 to pocket a very nice $14,762.27 for 2nd place. It was a dominant performance by Rotbert83 with plenty of aggression and some handy run good resulting in the MicroMillions title and $19,882.18 in prize money. Congratulations!
