MicroMillions 4: Victory for voenniy3 in Event #10 ($1+R NLHE 3x-Turbo)
The start of the final table had voenniy3 on one of the shorter stacks but doubled up to gain some ground. From there, a slow and steady plan worked to chip up, and eliminating former chip leader Evi1979 in fourth place took voenniy3 to a new level. From that point, it was all voenniy3, who eliminated elraheb in third place and won the heads-up match. Voenniy3 seemed to remain focused, and that won the game.
The second day of MicroMillions 4 offered another grand selection of micro buy-in tournaments in the series. Of the nine tournaments on the schedule today, this was the fastest one, labeled a 3x-Turbo with five-minute levels. And fast, it was!
With a $50K guarantee on it, players could buy in to Event 10 for $1 with unlimited rebuys for the first 90 minutes of play, and add-ons were welcome at that time. That created a massive prize pool that blew straight through the guarantee, almost tripling it for a substantial prize pool. The final numbers were:
Prize pool: $140,121.80
Paid players: 3,600
With that, the tournament moved forward and burst the money bubble so the top 3,600 players could be paid. The first one to take home the min-cash was Gijver92 of the Netherlands for $8.40. None of the members of Team PokerStars made it to that point. Payments then increased over the course of the next couple hours, which usually goes without saying.
The 5.5-hour mark revealed only two tables left in the tournament, and play was quick as the final table approached. It took about 30 minutes to get to hand-for-hand play, which happened after the 11th place elimination of eldx876. It wasn't long before crotzanu risked it all with 8♥8♠ against the A♠Q♠ of Evi1979, but the board came Q♣5♠K♥Q♥Q♦. Quad queens beat the full house, and crotzanu had to leave in tenth place with $525.45.
Karapoki begins with slight chip lead
Level 64 was in motion when the final table began, so blinds were at 2.5M/5M with a 500K ante. The players' starting chip stacks were:
Seat 1: Sebosweet (80,968,856 in chips)
Seat 2: karapoki (144,703,270 in chips)
Seat 3: Evi1979 (140,120,366 in chips)
Seat 4: Mcdurum (87,405,368 in chips)
Seat 5: voenniy3 (53,518,318 in chips)
Seat 6: hotthe940 (48,800,524 in chips)
Seat 7: shaun_thfc (93,808,688 in chips)
Seat 8: Durden1993 (58,308,178 in chips)
Seat 9: elraheb (108,465,432 in chips)
Three hands into it, Evi1979 took a pot worth 134.5 million chips from karapoki to climb into first place. Voenniy3 doubled thorugh Evi1979, but the latter maintained a firm grip on the number one spot.
Meanwhile, shaun_thfc was ready to get involved, starting with an UTG raise. SEbosweet reraised all-in, and shaun_thfc called all-in with A♥Q♣. Sebosweet showed Q♦Q♥, though, and turned that into two pair on the T♣T♦J♠3♥5♣ board. Shaun_thfc had to leave in ninth place with $700.60.
Durden1993 doubled through Sebosweet on the very next hand, but three hands after that, Durden1993 pushed all-in again, that time from middle position. Sebosweet reraised all-in from the small blind to isolate, which worked, and showed A♠K♦. Durden1993 was in trouble with K♠9♥ and caught no help on the 6♥8♥7♠8♣2♠ board. Durden1993 had to depart in eighth place with $1,191.03.
Evi1979 keeps climbing
On the next hand, karapoki saw an opportunity to move from the small blind. The all-in move was made for little more than 55 million chips, but any hopes of taking the pot were shattered when Evi1979 called from the big blind with A♣6♥. Karapoki showed 7♦3♦, and the board came J♦4♥9♣8♥4♦ to officially eliminate karapoki in seventh place, which was worth $1,751.52.
The next player to move was Mcdurum, who took a chance by moving all-in UTG for 47 million chips with 8♥5♥. Evi1979 called from the big blind with Q♥J♦, and the queen kicker played as the board revealed nothing but K♦3♦6♥9♠6♠. Mcdurum was gone in sixth place with $2,522.19.
Shortly thereafter, hotthe940 pushed all-in from the small blind with K♥8♦, and elraheb called with T♦T♣ from the big blind. The board came 5♦5♠3♣2♥8♠, and the tens and fives took the pot for elraheb. Hotthe940 was eliminated in fifth place with $3,783.28.
The fall of Evi1979
During four-handed play, Evi1979 lost hold of the chip lead, greatly due to this hand with elraheb:
Suddenly on the low end of the chip counts, Evi1979 moved all-in four hands later with T♦8♦. Voenniy3 was next to act and reraised all-in with 9♣9♠ to isolate, which worked. The flop came K♠7♠8♣ to give Evi1979 a pair and some hope, but neither the 2♥ turn or 3♣ river could save the day. Evi1979 exited in fourth place with $5,044.38.
Deal for final three
The last three players standing played a few rounds before pausing the tournament to discuss a potential deal. They looked at deal numbers by chip counts and all quickly agreed to those payouts. With $1,000 set aside to be added to the winner's money, this was the deal:
Seat 1: Sebosweet (274635722 in chips) = $9,482.06
Seat 5: voenniy3 (375197322 in chips) = $10,645.21
Seat 9: elraheb (166265956 in chips) = $8,228.60
Elraheb then moved all-in on the first hand back in the tournament with K♥5♦, and voenniy3 called from the big blind with A♣8♠. The board blanked with 3♠7♥Q♣J♦6♠, and elraheb was out of the tournament in third place with $8,228.60.
Heads-up for $1K
The final two players began heads-up play with these chip counts:
Seat 1: Sebosweet (263,835,722 in chips)
Seat 5: voenniy3 (552,263,278 in chips)
Voenniy3 chipped up even more during the first few rounds, though Sebosweet was able to double-up to stay in action:
Sebosweet tried it again on the very next hand, pushing all-in with K♣5♣. Voenniy3 called with A♥Q♠ and stayed ahead as the flop came 9♥6♣9♦. Voenniy3 took even more of a lead in the hand with the Q♣ on the turn, and the 5♠ on the river was too little, too late. Sebosweet took second place in the tournament for $9,482.06.
Voenniy3 of Russia won Event 10 for $11,645.21. Congrats!
