MicroMillions 7: Deeagie stages comeback to win Event #17 ($3.30 PL Badugi)

Badugi can be one of those frustrating games which some bunch together with such interesting games like Razz and Deuce-to-Seven Lowball. It has a smaller fanbase than some popular variants but those who play the game, love the game. The second MicroMillions tournament of the day was a $3.30 Badugi tournament with pot limit betting and a $5,000 guarantee.

The field came up just shy of 2,500 players to create a $7,473 prizepool with the final 320 making it into the money. The winner was set to pick up a nice $1,271 payday at the end of tournament and it took exactly nine hours from start to finish.

It took seven of those hours to get the field down to the final two tables with some small stacks trying to slide into the final table. Rammerkbh was one of those to make the extra pay jump after the final table bubble with just a few hundred thousand while fallout1 began with 11-times that amount for the chiplead.

Rammerkbh drops early, eliminated in 8th

Rammerkbh made the final table with less than three big blinds and put them in the middle trying with one already in big blind. bshe called the small three-bet and drew one card after Rammerkbh drew two.

Rammerkbh found one card he liked and only drew one the second time around while bshe drew another. They both drew one last card and bshe pulled a Badugi J♠3♦2♥A♣ while Rammerkbh could only manage a three-card Nine with 9♥6♣A♦ to go out of the tournament in 8th place for $74.

katmagik makes chips disappear, eliminated in 7th

katmagik began the final table second in chips but lost an early 1,900,000 pot to Alximik1203 to drop under 300,000. Those chips stayed in front for a few hands but they eventually went all-in from the big blind after Marsbar1976 opened from UTG+1.

katmagik was dealt a Badugi and stood pat while Marsbar1976 drew one on the first two draws and then stood pat on the third. katmagik took a shot with the Badugi K♣Q♦9♥7♠ but was bested by Marsbar1976's 7♥6♣5♦A♠. katmagik was set up with a great chance to win but was eliminated in 7th place for $149.

Alximik1203 makes a move, eliminated in 6th

Alximik1203 may have improved with the big early double-up off katmagik but was quickly back under 10 big blinds. He made an all-in move with a four-bet from the small blind after Alximik1203 opened and Deeagie raised to 1,050,000. Alximik1203 called the bet and they both drew one card.

They both made their hand with that draw and stood pat on the second before Deeagie commented "6 high". Alximik1203 responded with "no way" and saw the truth of it when Deeagie tabled 6♣5♦4♥2♠ which was good enough to top Alximik1203's Q♣8♠4♦A♥ to send the Russian out in 6th place for $224.

Vizt84 not a victor, eliminated in 5th

Vizt84 began the final table near the top of the leaderboard but was unable to pick up many chips during the action before taking a big hit against fallout1. With less than one big blind, Vizt84 called all-in after bshe made a big early raise.

Vizt84 drew two cards followed by bshe pulling just one and the each took just one more on the second draw. bshe stood pat on the third draw after Vizt84 drew his final card of the tournament. bshe showed a Badugi K♥6♣2♦A♠ and the best Vizt84 could provide was a three-card Seven 7♣6♥3♦ to drop out in 5th place for $373.

Marsbar1976 falls, eliminated in 4th

Marsbar1976 began final table play with the second shortest stack but did well to move up the payout ladder while other players dropped out. The UK grinder was at the bottom with four remaining and was dealt a Badugi.

fallout1 opened for a min-raise under the gun and Marsbar1976 responded with a three-bet to 1,040,000. fallout1 put in a fourth bet large enough to put Marsbar1976 all-in and he easily called before standing pat with what was eventually known to be K♥Q♣5♠2♦. A good starting hand but it was out drawn when fallout1 hit on the first draw for a better Badugi Q♥8♣6♦3♠. Marsbar1976 had a good shot to stay alive but was the next sent out, eliminated in 4th place for $523.

fallout1 takes tough beat, eliminated in 3rd

There are bad beats all throughout poker but fallout1 took one on the chin which would have set the Russian up as the chipleader. fallout1 opened the action with a min-raise in the small blind and bshe called in the big. Both players drew one card and fallout1 checked-called a 320,000 bet from bshe.

Both players again drew one more card and they each checked. fallout1 was happy with the hand and stood pat while bshe drew a final card. fallout1 bet out for 800,000 before bshe raised to 1,920,000 and fallout1 pushed all-in for 3,291,558. The bet was called and fallout1 found out his Badugi 5♥4♣3♠A♦ was barely outpipped by the 5♦4♠2♣A♥ of bshe. fallout1 was unlucky but was dropped in 3rd place for $707.

Deeagie battles back to win Event #17

Seat 1: bshe (9259702 in chips)
Seat 3: Deeagie (3195298 in chips)

bshe entered heads-up play with nearly a 3-to-1 chiplead but that did not translate into a victory or short match. Deeagie wasted no time closing the gap and eventually took a small lead to set up the drawn out affair. The lead then changed several times with no end in sight until both players hit big starting hands.

Deeagie began the final hand with a min-raise from the button before bshe three-bet to 1,800,000. The fourth bet came from Deeagie for 5,400,000 which was more than enough to put bshe all-in with a call. bshe called the bet before drawing one card while Deeagie was happy with his hand and stood pat.

The pattern didn't change as bshe drew one card on the second and third draw while Deeagie continued to stand pat. Deeagie turned over his T♦8♣4♠A♥ Badugi while the best bshe could managed was a three-card Six with 6♦3♣2♠ to finish runner-up. Deeagie won the tournament after more than 100 heads-up hands for the title and $1,134.
