MicroMillions 4: ari0nn is awesome after victory in Event #20 (Saturday Splash Special $2.22R 3X-Turbo NLHE)

Usually the dreams of turning two bucks into something meaningful like a car, paying for a year of college, or a trip across the pond are found within a slot machine or lottery ticket. In today's MicroMillions 4 Event #20 Saturday Splash Special with $150,000 guaranteed four players walked away with a five figure score for that $2 (and likely some rebuys). 23,488 had the dream of taking home one of those five figure scores (thanks to the 90,211 rebuys, 11,728 add-ons and $253,362.54 prize pool) sitting at the final table, but only Artur Lesley ($10,134.50), oskar322 ($12,668.12), KeedanMvO ($19,471.14), and the tournament champion ari0nn made the dream a reality. ari0nn rode a huge chip lead, lost it only during heads-up play, but stormed back to take down $24,710.01 and the victory today.

During hour three of the tournament a familiar accountant popped up on the first leaderboard. Team PokerStars Pro Chris "Money800" Moneymaker was among the seven players with two million chips or more with 1,400 players remaining in the tournament. By the fourth hourly break, Moneymaker's chip stack slid a bit but still held an average stack of 3.6 million chips with 198 players remaining.

Wherever Chris went the rail followed as he would hop across several tables thanks to the turbo structure with five minute blinds and bustouts coming in quickly as 100 players busted in the first 20 minutes back from the fourth hour break.

After more ups than downs Moneymaker would advanced to the 450K/900K ante 90K blind level with a lucky 7.77 million chip stack as the average hovered near 18 million. The chip leader at the table kadi1990 would min-raise from middle position as DeepBlue6 shoved 9.2 million from the cutoff and the World Series of Poker Main Event champ followed suit with a shove holding big slick K♦A♥. kadi1990's eyes likely went wide open and insta-called with aces A♦A♣ as DeepBlue6 turned over pocket kings K♣K♠. Very unlucky draw for the champ but he would get to sweat the river after notching three hearts 7♥ 4♣ 2♥ Q♥. But the T♦ river landed the Team Pro in 40th place ($354.70).

Chris "Money800" Moneymaker: 40th place

The fifth hour started off with Russia's kadi1990 still holding the chip lead and 29 players remaining with blinds up to 500K/1MM ante 100K and an average stack of 23.8 million. kadi1990 seemed primed to run the table from this point out with constant bullying raises and playing nearly every hand but the Russian got a little too excited and slid back into fourth place in chips after surrendering a 52 million chip pot to JoeBlack_MS whose king-queen over kadi1990's jack-nine suited then two hands later got outkicked by cyberzorg's ace-jack to ace-deuce for a 76.4 million chip pot. All the way down to eight million, kadi1990 would build it right back up to almost 60 million in some action that require some Pepto Bismol or Dramamine to handle that was certainly living up to the "Saturday Splash" name!

kadi1990's reign of terror would end at the hand of DENHOEVICH pulling the Russian in with min-raised pocket aces for 90% of the remaining 21 million chip stack, then %of-MeEE took the rest on the next hand hitting trip nines to send the fourth hour chip leader out in 17th place ($519.39).

The rail remarked that bingo was being played. Partially correct, as the players were forced to resort to shove or fold tactics due to the average stack only holding 10-12 BBs at this point with blinds up to 1.8MM/3.6MM ante 360K and 13 players remaining as ari0nn captured the biggest pot of the tournament to this point after calling a shove by cyberzorg and pocket nines 9♦9♠ were good over the 9♣A♣ of cyberzorg as the chip leader would take out another two players in short fashion to build a 227 million chip stack, towering over second place JoeBlack_MS with 72 million.

It would be Artur Lesley not ari0nn assisting the tournament field by eliminating PbI6O/\OB in tenth place. With the blinds at 2MM/4MM ante 400K Artur Lesley would open shove from the hijack seat of the five-handed table for 42.2 million as PbI6O/\OB called on the button for 8.8 million holding A♠6♠. Artur Lesley's pocket eights started in the lead and stayed there 3♥ 5♣ T♣ 6♥ 4♣ starting up the final table of Event #20 below:

Seat 1: Artur Lesley (59097653 in chips)
Seat 2: paisanoo06 (20029385 in chips)
Seat 3: ari0nn (258326034 in chips)
Seat 4: oskar322 (61715026 in chips)
Seat 5: %of-MeEE (70216786 in chips)
Seat 6: JoeBlack_MS (56528750 in chips)
Seat 7: ZZeusss (44473225 in chips)
Seat 8: bloodhond2 (81845376 in chips)
Seat 9: KeedanMvO (40704765 in chips)

Artur Lesley is no stranger to MicroMillions success after coming in second to Team Pokerstars Pro Marcin Horecki for the Player of the Series title during MicroMillions III and winning Event #15. The Russian already has 55 Player of the Series points in MicroMillions 4 and and a win would move the VIP GoldStar just five points off first place jon011's total.

Backed into black

All nine players would survive until the fifth hour break, but shortly afterwards with the blinds at 2.5MM/5MM ante 500K JoeBlack_MS min-raised from the button as ZZeusss called all-in for 4.28 million as bloodhond2 folded the big blind. Q♠4♠ for ZZeusss was up against the A♥8♠ of JoeBlack_MS. The straight draw would swing JoeBlack)MS' way 7♥ K♦ 6♥ 5♥ 9♦ as ZZeusss earned $1,520.17 in ninth place.

Nothing but a bloodhond

Blinds moving up to 2.75MM/5.5MM ante 550K bloodhond2 tried to improve on a very short stack of 30 million by open shoving from the small blind with 3♥K♦. Unfortunately, KeedanMvO covered in the big blind and had just enough of a hand to make the call in pocket sixes 6♦6♠. bloodhond2 would sniff out a pair on the 5♣ T♣ 8♠ 3♠ 9♥ but treys were not enough as KeedanMvO took down the 64.5 million chip pot and bloodhond2 would have to find a little more action somewhere else after finishing in eighth place ($2,280.26).

Chip leader wakes up

Up until this point the chip leader ari0nn was carefully picking spots to steal the occasional blinds. Holding over 300 million in chips and the blinds at 2.75MM/5.5MM ante 550K the Greek finally brought down the hammer on another player. Watch below:

paisanoo06 would open shove from the small blind for 32.2 million holding a premium Q♣A♥ as ari0nn had plenty of chips to gamble and did so with K♦8♦. A rivered king later [6h T♦ 3♣ 5♣ K♣ and paisanoo06 would pass those chips to the ari0nn finishing in seventh place ($3,559.74).

ari0nn goes over 400 million

As the blinds moved up to 3.5MM/7MM ante 700K ari0nn held fast to the sizable chip lead as JoeBlack_MS' stack went in the opposite direction for the past hour. Down to 22.4 million, JoeBlack_MS open shoved holding J♣8♦ as ari0nn was looking for a third straight pot and called with pocket sevens 7♦7♣. ari0nn's pair weaved free of death on the 9♥ K♦ 2♣ 3♥ 5♠ board collecting another 59.5 million as JoeBlack_MS perished with a huge ROI in sixth place ($5,067.25).

% of me = fifth place cash

As the blinds moved closer to a one million chip ante(!) but blind currently at 4MM/8MM ante 800K oskar322 would shove from the hijack for 67.7 million as %of-MeEE called on the button for 52.4 million holding pocket jacks J♦J♠. Not good for oskar322's suited A♥J♥ until an ace happened to land on the edge of the flop 4♥ 7♥ A♠ Q♠ 4♣ as %of-MeEE earned a ROI percentage of 1,214% (assuming one buy-in, one rebuy, one add-on) in fifth place ($7,600.87).

Back-to-back all-ins to lineup heads-up play

First, ari0nn would min-raise from the cutoff with the blinds still at 4MM/8MM ante 800K. Artur Lesley looking for a way to capture those 100 points for the champion and the $25K first prize knew it would go through ari0nn as the Russian shoved from the big blind for 73.5 million holding A♥7♥. ari0nn hardly flinched and quickly called with a better kicker A♣J♦. Not needed but the jack turned into a queen high straight T♦ 8♦ Q♥ 9♠ 2♦ ending Artur Lesley's run in fourth place ($10,134.50).

On the very next hand KeedanMvO would open min-raise on the button as oskar322 shoved from the big blind (déjà vu?) for 152 million. Holding K♣9♥ KeedanMvO dove in and made the call against oskar322's pocket jacks J♦J♣. KeedanMvO kept collecting hearts on the 4♠ 8♥ T♥ 6♥ board but the dagger would be a rivered king K♦ as KeedanMvO scooped up the 166.3 million chip pot.

Fall from above

No one could fault oskar322 for being upset at being rivered in the big hand against KeedanMvO but three hands later, instead of being heads-up for the Event #20 title, the Estonian was out. The blind still at 4MM/8MM ante 800K as ari0nn min-raised from the small blind as oskar322 shoved for 65 million. Holding Q♦A♥ ari0nn made the call and dominated the 9♠Q♠ oskar322. Zero spades hit the T♦ T♥ 7♣ J♦ 4♦ board as oskar322 would take away the second five figure prize of this tournament finishing in third place ($12,668.12).

An offer and acceptance

ari0nn insisted on not chopping up to this point but softened up a bit as Team Online's Andre Coimbra worked the numbers out to the final two's likings as they agreed to the fund transfers below leaving $3,000.00 to the winner:

ari0nn: $21,710.01
KeedanMvO: $19,471.14

ari0nn says "not today"

Despite starting with a 541 million to 151.9 million chip lead ari0nn would watch the flip sides 16 minutes into the heads-up match after KeedanMvO took down a 409.6 million chip pot when Q♣K♥ for KeedanMvO outkicked ari0nn's Q♦T♦ all-in preflop on the low 2♠ 8♦ 7♦ 6♠ 7♠ board.

But, ari0nn did not give up and eventually retook the lead and at the 27 minute mark with a 452 million to 240.5 million chip lead, ari0nn would become the Event #20 champion. Watch below as the players get it in preflop:

Both would hit their kickers as ari0nn's A♠9♣ took out KeedanMvO's 3♣A♥ to claim the extra $3,000.00 and the Event #20 title!
