MicroMillions 4: Leadankoning leads all, king of Event #3 ($3.30 NLHE 6-max.)
The first day of MicroMillions 4 kicked off with the first six of the scheduled 100 events, with more than 220,000 entrants participating! From that total 41,496 played Event #3, a $3.30 six-handed no-limit hold'em event, and after almost 10-and-a-half hours it was Leadankoning of South Africa prevailing to earn a $10,986.73 return on that tiny investment.
The huge turnout meant a prize pool of $124,488, a figure well over twice the event's $50K guarantee, with the top 5,400 finishers scheduled to divide the cash. All six of the final tablists were due five-figure scores for their $3.30 buy-ins with that nearly $11K prize up top for the winner.
From 41,496 to 6
It took about three-and-a-half hours for the field to be trimmed down to 5,400 players and the cash bubble to burst. At that point Hawky66, SnitteGitte, and Eng.Ferreira sat atop the counts, all hovering around the 250,000-chip mark.
Team PokerStars Pro Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hrubý was among the first cashers, earning $6.22 for finishing 5,059th. About an hour-and-a-half after that they were approaching the five-hour mark, with about 1,000 players still alive. By then StayFit4 had moved in front and was closing in on 1 million chips, with ronjoy78 and puteec91 occupying the next two positions.
By the seven-hour mark just 135 players were left, with ben3k having just been the first to cross the 5 million-chip mark. About 45 minutes later they were less than 60 players remaining, with 100$talker the new leader with more than 10 million chips. And a half-hour after that 36 players were left, with Pchela 03 the first and so far only player to have built a stack of 20 million chips.
They were just crossing the nine-and-a-half-hour mark when the field had shrunk to 12 players, gathered around two six-handed tables. Leading then with nearly 43 million was Leadankoning, with ROB OF CHAOS, L0L__KQ, and tone2toni all fighting for second position with around 26 million each.
It would take another 40 minutes for six more to fall, with Leadankoning maintaining the lead and growing a stack to more than 60 million. Pchela 03 (12th), fjoshue (11th), and Phant_Moscow (10th) each earning $551.48 for their finishes, while Ruben1291 (9th), (8th), and (7th) took away $722.03 apiece.
The final table was underway!
Seat 1: Alfirin (Netherlands) -- 19,536,660
Seat 2: Leadankoning (South Africa) -- 62,183,312
Seat 3: ROB OF CHAOS (United Kingdom) -- 32,960,650
Seat 4: L0L__KQ (Mexico) -- 14,295,782
Seat 5: tone2toni (Germany) -- 48,661,855
Seat 6: 100$talker (Russia) -- 29,841,741
The stacks were deep, but the blinds were big, too, up to 700k/1.4m to start the final table. As it would turn out, it would take only a little more than 15 minutes for a winner to emerge, thanks in large part to a decisive hand early on between the two chip leaders.
Heart-stopping hand gives Leadankoning huge lead
tone2toni grabbed a couple of pots to start the final table to edge in front of Leadankoning. Then came a huge, tourney-changing hand that saw a flop give Leadankoning a straight and tone2toni a set of queens.
All of Leadankoning's chips found their way in the middle on the flop, and when neither hand had changed by the river, Leadankonig had scored a huge double to more than 124 million. Take a look:
A little later, Leadankoning took to the chatbox.
Leadankoning: "that board pair and i have cardiac arrest"
Just like that Leadankoning had more than 60% of the chips in play among the final six, with a stack five times as big as the nearest challenger.
tone2toni tamed in sixth
It was only a couple of hands later than Alfirin opened with a 3x raise to 4.2 million from early position, then tone2toni reraised all in for 4,820,900 from the big blind and Alfirin called.
tone2toni had 7♦7♣, but Alfirin had K♥K♦, and when the community cards came 5♥3♣T♥6♠T♣, tone2toni was out in sixth.
ROB OF CHAOS KO'd in fifth
About 25 hands later the blinds were up to 800k/1.6m when ROB OF CHAOS open-pushed for 12,443,293 from the cutoff seat and got a caller in Alfirin playing from the big blind.
It was A♣J♠ for ROB OF CHAOS and A♦K♠ for Alfirin. The board came 7♥Q♥6♠3♠3♦, and ROB OF CHAOS had been eliminated in fifth.
100$talker struck down in fourth
On the very next hand, 100$talker open-raised all in for 17,466,741 from the button and Leadankoning called from the big blind.
100$talker had 5♥5♠ and was hoping "presto" would change his small stack into a bigger one versus Leadankoning's K♦3♦. The flop was okay for 100$talker, coming J♠A♥8♥. But the K♠ fell on the river to give Leadankoning kings, and after the 6♠ river they were down to three.
KQ unfunny for L0L__KQ, out in third
The remaining trio would play a half-dozen hands more, then L0L__KQ took a shot by pushing all in for 12,518,008 from the button with Leadankoning calling once more.
Leadankoning was behind again, with L0L__KQ having been dealt a username-giving hand. But the eye-popping 5♦2♥5♠ flop gave the chip leader trip fives, and after the A♦ turn and 9♠ river, L0L__KQ was out third.
Leadankoning trips up Alfirin, takes title
Heads-up play began with Leadankoning sporting a stack of 169,371,587 to Alfirin's 38,108,413 -- a better than 4-to-1 advantage.
The pair would play six small-pot hands, then with the blinds still 800k/1.6m, Alfirin limped from the button and Leadankoning called.
The flop came 3♦8♠Q♦. Leadankoning lead for 1.6 million, Alfirin raised to 4.8 million, and Leadankoning called. The turn then brought the 3♣ to pair the board. This time Leadankoning checked, then called Alfirin's bet of 8 million.
The river was the 4♦. Leadankoning bet this time -- 12.8 million -- and when Alfirin raised all in for 33,508,413, Leadankoning quickly called.
Alfirin had A♥Q♥ for queens and treys, but Leadankoning had hit trips once again, this time with J♥3♠, to win the 96 million-plus chip pot and the tourney.
Congratulations to Leadankoning for topping a huge field of 41,196 to turn $3.30 into nearly $11K!
