MicroMillions 5: Flying with the cash, Bobrovaflya claims Event #17 (Badugi $3.30) title
Touranments like this morning's MicroMillions 5 Event #17 $3.30 Badugi with a $5K guarantee is the reason why this tournament series continues to exceed its promised prize pools. The smaller stakes players do not get the recognition or ink that someone playing the Sunday Majors, SCOOP, or WCOOP do simply because their bankrolls do not allow for it. But, today after defeating 2,389 players and bl00dcult heads-up, Russia's Bobrovaflya got the recognition and headline with the $1,082.00 win.
Its only day three of the MicroMillions 5 series but it should be mentioned that besides the $5 million in guarantees the players are also playing for Player of the Series points that could turn into some big cash in September. As the schedule was just posted a few days ago for the 2013 WCOOP the MicroMillion 5 players can earn WCOOP tickets up to a $5,200 Main Event entry for the Player of the Series champ.
As for today's action which will anoint the champion with 100 Player of the Series points which at the moment would be enough to claim a $215 WCOOP ticket. After seven hours of play with nine players left and blinds at 30K/60K Cozybear11 only holding a few big blinds shoved 165,079 from the cutoff as Bobrovaflya re-raise to 300,000 from the small blind. Through all three draws Cozybear11 kept looking for that one card that would overcome Bobrovaflya's pat hand. Cozybear11 eventually snuggled up with a 3-card A♦ 6♥ Q♥ 2♣ 6-high which could not match Bobrovaflya's queen-high badugi 3♠ 7♣ 2♥ Q♦ starting up the final table below:
Seat 1: stefan80_b (1707638 in chips)
Seat 2: Likeabus413 (232230 in chips)
Seat 3: Bobrovaflya (1887833 in chips)
Seat 4: huli2 (2080460 in chips)
Seat 5: aswin92 (1553216 in chips)
Seat 6: cindyana (613264 in chips)
Seat 7: bl00dcult (3011311 in chips)
Seat 8: Lin Pi Yama (864048 in chips)
Taking the bus out of town
Just five hands into the final table with the blind still at 30K/60K Likeabus413 would shove 172,230 all-in from the small blind over aswin92's min-raise. Bobrovaflya called out of the big blind as did aswin92. Everyone checked on the first draw as Bobrovaflya and aswin92 took a card while Likeabus413 stood pat. Same action on the second draw except aswin92 woke up with a 120,000 chip bet. Bobrovaflya folded as Likeabus413 still liked the 6♥ K♠ 5♣ 9♦ badugi to stay pat. Unfortunately aswin92 was not buffing and hit a ten-high badugi 5♠ 2♥ A♣ T♦ to claim the pot and knockout Likeabus413 in eighth place ($71.70).
Cindy says goodbye
12 minutes later as the blinds moved up to 40K/80K huli2 min-raise from the UTG+1 as cindyana shoved before the draws for 523,264. Back to huli2 making the call and went searching for a card to beat cindyana's pat badugi 7♠ A♥ T♦ 6♣ and after three draws finally got there. huli2 turned up a five-high badugi 4♦ 5♣ 3♥ 2♠ after the third draw to claim the 1.16 million chip pot and shove cindyana out in seventh place ($143.40).
A short while later with the blinds still at 40K/80K bl00dcult would led off with a raise to 198,000 as stefan80_b made it 714,000 to go getting the button and blinds to fold. Back to bl00dcult who raised and forced stefan80_d to call for tournament life, and stefan80_b was happy to with a pat queen-high badugi 5♦ Q♠ 6♣ 2♥. bl00dcult however needed a little boost and once again the third draw brought it hitting a seven-high badugi 4♠ 2♣ 6♥ 7♦ and leaving stefan80_b out in sixth place ($215.10).
Too fly for you
Three hands later Lin Pi Yama tried to get some draws for cheap by completing from the small blind. But, bobrovaflya had other ideas raising to 240,000. Lin Pi Yama decided to go for it and shoved for 564.048 as bobrovaflya made the call holding a nine-high badugi 3♠ 7♣ 9♥ 5♦. Lin Pi Yama looked desperately for a draw that would not even help, unable to notch a fourth suit with the ten-high draw T♣ 4♠ A♥ Q♥ ending the tournament in fifth place ($358.50).
More bl00d on the table
2.64 million chips in the middle after the second draw between aswin92 and bl00dcult after both of them caught their draws. Only one would move on as the other took home $501.00 in fourth place. Watch below:
Both hit their badugi as aswin92 caught a ten-high A♣ 3♥ T♦ 2♠ but not good enough to overcome bl00dcult's nine-high A♥ 6♣ 9♠ 3♦ to exit in fourth place.
Bl00dy good time
Just three hands later with the blinds moving up to 50K/100K bl00dcult set a target on knocking out huli2. Both would trade bets until all of huli2's chips sat in the middle of the 2.87 million chip pot. Both went fishing for a one-card draw and neither of them got there. However, that did not matter to bl00dcult who held the advantage from the beginning with a 3-card five-high 6♠ 3♣ A♥ 5♠ beating out huli2's 3-card six-high 2♥ A♣ 6♦ J♥ to claim the hugh pot and send huli2 to the rail in third place ($678.56). This is the second time huli2 made the MicroMillions Badugi event final table, notching a fourth place effort during MicroMillions 2.
Almost even in chips both players decided to lock up the lion share of the profits with a quick deal that left $100 aside for today's champ:
Flying away with the title
The lead was only 29,302 chips to start off heads-up play but Bobrovaflya was able to expand that lead to 9.8 million to 2.06 million after 20 minutes and ended things with the hand below:
This time the one-card draw would not hit on the third draw for bl00dcult ending the tournament with an eight-high three-card A♣ 8♦ 3♣ 4♥ unable to match Bobrovaflya's jack-high badugi 6♣ A♠ 9♦ J♥ which was enough to claim the MicroMillions 5 Event #17 title and $1,082.00!
