MicroMillions 5: Nothing but pure domination from alisaurio in Event #70 ($5.50 NLHE)

Poker players often talk about running "well" or "pure" or "like God", but what exactly does that mean? It's hard to measure what God runs like -- he's not on any tracking database that we know of -- but we think God would be pretty envious of the run of Mexico's alisaurio in today's MicroMillions event. In six years of covering tournament poker, I would have to say it's the most dominant final table performance I've ever personally witnessed. alisaurio started out by crushing the final table chip leader, and had half the chips in play when there were seven players left. By the time it was heads-up alisaurio had a 26-to-1 chip advantage after busting all of the other players except one. And to cap it off, alisaurio only needed one hand to win the MicroMillions title in a truly epic performance.

It all went down in Event #70 of the MicroMillions 5 series which saw a whopping 10,907 players come together for the $5.50 No Limit Holdem Event. The prize pool reached $54,535.00 to almost double the advertised guarantee. The top 1,440 finished in the money with Labirt from Portugal the unlucky one to bubble the $8.72 min-cash.

It took nine hours for the field to get close to the MicroMillions final table, and when nicotractor lost a preflop race with ace-jack against Iet_me_win's pocket nines, our final table of nine was set:

Final Table Line up
Seat 1: chillaz4free (5,321,467 in chips)
Seat 2: AGAVE777 (8,230,834 in chips)
Seat 3: ordep açaliv (5,549,288 in chips)
Seat 4: Iet_me_win (3,419,488 in chips)
Seat 5: brig29 (6,652,495 in chips)
Seat 6: alisaurio (5,453,147 in chips)
Seat 7: duggie1999 (8,438,165 in chips)
Seat 8: mullski326 (4,391,900 in chips)
Seat 9: TotoyRuppy (7,078,216 in chips)

The chips were well spread around the table as the blinds commenced at 150k/300k with a 37,500-chip ante. duggie1999 was out in front but there were several threatening to challenge while Iet_me_win was our short stack.

From the get-go there were players tossing up the idea of a deal but that was going to be a near impossibility with nine players still left. As the chat continued, alisaurio won a nice early pot from ordep açaliv to take the chip lead before the big shock of the final table saw duggie1999 go from chip leader to very first eliminated with the fall of a very cold river card:

The case seven gave both players trips but alisaurio out-kicked duggie1999 in a dramatic fall from grace for our chip leader. duggie1999 will be disappointed with 9th place for a collect of $370.83.

alisaurio was now the commanding chip leader and didn't slow down as another massive hand saw mullski326 sent crashing to the rail. alisaurio played it well, raising preflop with A♣T♣ and then betting the flop and turn before checking the river on the board of J♣8♦T♥4♠J♠. mullski326 had called the whole way, but after missing with K♥Q♦ for a straight draw and overcards, mullski326 tried to take it away by moving all in on the river, but alisaurio made the call with jacks and tens for the best hand. mullski326 was out in 8th place for $545.35 in prize money.

alisaurio now almost had half the chips in play with still seven players remaining, but it was chillaz4free who was responsible for the next elimination. ordep açaliv had moved all in from early position with Q♥6♥ and chillaz4free called in the big blind with A♠4♦. The board was spread 9♣2♠3♥3♠A♥ with the ace the exclamation point on the end, to send ordep açaliv to collect $1,090.70 for 7th place.

Iet_me_win was fighting hard and found a double with ace-queen against brig29's king-queen, but the comeback would be brought to a sudden halt at the hands of the chip leader. Iet_me_win moved all in from early position with 2♦2♥ but was crushed by alisaurio's 7♦7♣. There were no lucky ducks on the A♦8♣J♥T♣Q♠ board and Iet_me_win had to be content with 6th place which was worth $1,636.05.

The great run of alisaurio was getting a little silly, but it didn't stop there, as AGAVE777 was next to feel the pain of the runaway chip leader. The action was post-flop this time, with alisaurio firing a bet on the flop before all the chips were in on the turn. The board read J♠9♦J♦6♣ and again it was a rough cooler as AGAVE777 showed J♣T♥ for trip jacks, only to be out-kicked by alisaurio's J♥K♠. The river was the 8♠ to see alisaurio claim another victim as AGAVE777 took $2,181.40 for 5th place.

Could alisaurio run any hotter? Apparently so!

Moments later, brig29 shoved from under the gun with A♥7♥ but sitting next to speak was alisaurio who found A♠A♣. Incredible! The board fell Q♠7♦T♦K♥8♠ to see brig29 farewell the table in 4th place for $2,726.75.

Taking a look at the chip counts at this point, and alisaurio was simply crushing:

Seat 1: chillaz4free (6,820,755 in chips)
Seat 6: alisaurio (44,598,529 in chips)
Seat 9: TotoyRuppy (3,115,716 in chips)

It had been nothing but a pure demolition job so far and alisaurio went for the kill.

chillaz4free moved all in from the button with K♥Q♣ and alisaurio made the call in the small blind with 5♥5♣. alisaurio could do nothing wrong and even a coin flip wasn't a fair race as the board was spread A♠A♣6♠5♠J♠. No one was surprised to see alisaurio make a full house, leaving chillaz4free to depart in 3rd place for $3,926.52 in prize money.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 6: alisaurio (52,156,784 in chips)
Seat 9: TotoyRuppy (2,378,216 in chips)

A 26-to-1 chip deficit had been overcome in the past, but could TotoyRuppy really pull off mission impossible?

I'm afraid not as it was simply a day out for alisaurio who wrapped it up in just one hand. alisaurio moved all in and TotoyRuppy called off four big blinds with A♥5♣ only to be dominated by alisaurio's A♣Q♦. Again it was nothing by dominance on the board of J♣Q♣6♥7♦4♥ to cap off an emphatic victory. TotoyRuppy was able to stay out of trouble long enough to reach 2nd place for a nice $5,562.57 return but no one was ever going to stop Mexico's alisaurio. An insane run saw alisaurio bust seven of the eight players on the way to a mighty victory and $7,642.06 in prize money. Congratulations!
