MicroMllions 5: miami1984 mows 'em down in Event #19 ($4.40 NLHE 4-Max)

Wild action! Deep stacks! Constant level wars! Welcome to the world of 4-Max at the MicroMillions, where a pre flop five-bet is only the beginning. At this frenetic final table, miami1984 reigned supreme, eliminating four of the final six players-- three of them with pocket aces. We'd seen miami1984 in action before in the 2013 SCOOP, where he finished in sixth place in Event #3-M (aka the event Adam "Roothlus" Levy won while simultaneously playing the final table of the Monaco Cup) and he added a MicroMillions title to his growing C.V. today, along with over $4,700.

12,590 players turned out for Event #19, the prize pool topping out at $50,360. 1,600 places were paid with first place set to earn $4,729.12-- about 1,075 times their $4.40 investment.

Eight and a half hours after cards went in the air, a massive three-way pot sent us straight from the final table bubble to four-handed play. With the blinds up to 100,000/200,000, miami1984 opened for 420,000 on the button and kimble83 shoved for 3,570,552 from the small blind. YamatiqueZ had kimble83 slightly covered and reshoved from the big blind. Miami1984 called and the cards went on their backs:

miami1984 A♠A♦
kimble83 A♥K♣
YamatiqueZ Q♥Q♦

Miami1984's pocket aces held up on the J♣T♥6♥T♦5♥ board, sending kimble83 to the rail in sixth place ($404.89) and YamatiqueZ in fifth ($649.64).

Not bluffing anymore

Chip leader CTL-2010 picked up even more steam when a double-barrel semi-bluff turned into the nuts on the river. Miami1984 was the initial raiser, making it 400,000 to go on the button. Mimino988 called from the small blind and CTL-2010 did the same from the big. The action checked to CTL-2010 on the K♥J♠6♥ flop. He bet 600,000 and only miami1984 called. The turn came the 7♦ and CTL-2010 fired another 1,000,000. Miami1984 looked him up and they went to the river, which fell the Q♥. CTL-2010 bet 1.4 million and miami1984 called only to discover CTL-2010's 9♥T♦ made a king-high straight on the river. CTL-2010 boosted his stack to 26.5 million while miami1984 slipped to 16.7 million.

Say hello to my little friends

A sapling among the redwoods, mimino988 was down to less than 20 big blinds, facing three opponents with over 60BB apiece. Holding J♠T♠, mimino988 min-raised to 500,000 from the cutoff and miami1984 three-bet to 1,125,000 from the big blind. Mimino988 four-bet shoved for 4.77 million and miami1984 snap-called, revealing his good buddies A♠A♣. Miami1984 scored his third consecutive KO, the board finishing J♣9♦5♠9♥8♦ to end mimino988's run in fourth place ($1,030.36).

A-A is three for three

Refu$e2Lose slipped to 9.3 million but rebounded to more than 14 million in a pot vs. miami1984. After seeing a A♥T♦8♣ flop for 840,000 apiece, Refus$e2Lose made a 713,700 c-bet and miami1984 flat-called. The turn came the 6♠ and Refu$e2Lose fired another 1,270,386. Miami1984 raised to 2.7 million and Refu$e2Lose shoved for 7.7 million. It was enough to scare off miami1984 and Refu$e2Lose raked in a 8.65 million pot.

However, three hands later, disaster struck. Refu$e2Lose three-bet CTL-2010's 800,000 opening raise to 2 million with A♠J♠ and CTL-2010 came back over the top for 3.2 million. Refu$e2Lose shoved for 14.5 million and CTL-2010 insta-called with A♣A♦. Aces were still batting 1.000, the board running out 3♥2♥2♦2♠5♠ to eliminate Refu$e2Lose in third place ($1,656.24).

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 2: CTL-2010 (38,868,957 in chips)
Seat 4: miami1984 (24,081,043 in chips)

Miami1984 gained some ground on CTL-2010 on the sixth hand of heads-up play. In a pot CTL-2010 four-bet to 4.8 million pre, both players checked the K♠T♣3♥ flop. Miami1984 bet 3.2 million on the 5♥ turn and got a call, but CTL-2010 folded to his 5.6 million bet on the 6♠ river. Miami1984 dragged the 16.1 million pot and took a narrow chip lead with 32.1 million to CTL-2010's 30.7 million.

CTL-2010 inched back into the lead after a long stretch of small pots. The chip counts were essentially reset to where they were at the start of heads-up when this game-changing pot unfolded:

Miami1984 moved up to 40.6 million after the hand and closed out the win six hands later. A preflop raising war ended when miami1984 five-bet to 10,250,000 and CTL-2010 called. The rest of their chips went in on the A♠Q♠4♠ flop, miami1984 revealing A♦Q♣ for top two pair while CTL-2010 tabled K♣Q♥. The turn was the J♠, the river fell the 7♥, and miami1984 delivered the final blow.

Congratulations to miami1984 on a dominating performance! He banked $4,729.12 for the win while runner-up CTL-2010 earned $2,858.43.
