MicroMillions 6: zepokerplay zaps them in Event #24 ($2.20 NLHE)

The MicroMillions is in full swing with millions of dollars being given away to PokerStars low-limit grinders, and there's no greater feeling that turning pocket change into significant chunks of money. Just ask Brazilian zepokerplay, who took a couple of gold coins and turned them into over three thousand dollars today in Event #24 of the MicroMillions.

The event was a $2.20 No Limit event which attracted a huge field of 16,169 to build a prize pool of $32,338 to more than double the advertised guarantee.

We found Team PokerStars Online player Tyler Frost in the field but his tournament ended in 2,407th place, just short of the money for the top 2,025 players.

Also missing the money was stamps05010 from Canada who bubbled in 2,026th place with everyone else locking up a min-cash of $3.55.

Over the next few hours the players slowly dropped away one-by-one until after a gruelling nine hours of play, greybeard ran ace-jack into mAKsiKoz's ace-queen to fall in 10th place as our official final table of nine was set:

Final Table Lineup
Seat 1: mAKsiKoz (11,992,333 in chips)
Seat 2: Starfighte86 (4,717,974 in chips)
Seat 3: esmeralda103 (2,207,340 in chips)
Seat 4: BigDaddyNatz (5,946,520 in chips)
Seat 5: amnesia1804 (5,543,488 in chips)
Seat 6: zepokerplay (16,869,717 in chips)
Seat 7: Luissyystem (11,694,855 in chips)
Seat 8: THE_KAISER X (17,456,545 in chips)
Seat 9: v-gangsta7 (4,416,228 in chips)

The final table blinds kicked off at 150k/300k/37.5k and it was the short-stacked esmeralda103 who was first to go on just the third hand of the final table. esmeralda103 moved all in from middle position with K♦T♥ but amnesia1804 made the call with a powerhouse A♥K♥. Nothing changed through the board of 7♠Q♥4♦2♦5♠ to see esmeralda103 collect $194.02 for 9th place.

Starfighte86 was soon to follow to the rail in what was a bit of a cooler. zepokerplay opened with a raise before Starfighte86 moved all in from the big blind with A♥K♠ but zepokerplay insta-called and revealed K♦K♥. zepokerplay improved to a flush on the board of 4♣9♦2♦3♦4♦ to send Starfighte86 crashing out in 8th place for $291.04.

The action didn't slow down as v-gangsta7 was next to go in another clash of big cards. v-gangsta7 three-bet jammed with A♠Q♦ but THE_KAISER X called with A♣K♥ as this time "Big Slick" was in good shape. The board ran out 6♥T♠5♣8♦9♦ which left v-gangsta7 to depart in 7th place for $565.91 in prize money.

The short stacks were having a hard time getting themselves back into contention and that trend continued when Luissyystem three-bet jammed with A♥Q♣. zepokerplay called with 9♣9♦ and improved to a set on the board of J♠4♦2♣9♥8♦. Luissyystem was out in 6th place, adding an extra $873.12 to the cashier.

Again it didn't take long for BigDaddyNatz to join the rapidly growing rail as five became four. BigDaddyNatz moved all in from early position with J♥9♥ and was hoping to sneak it through to collect the blinds and antes but mAKsiKoz made a solid call in the big blind with A♣T♣. The community cards landed 3♠Q♣A♥7♠8♠, bringing no help to BigDaddyNatz who received an impressive four-figure return of $1,196.50 for 5th place.

As the dust settled and we caught our breath, it was zepokerplay out in front of the final four with THE_KAISER X not too far behind. mAKsiKoz was a little shorter with amnesia1804 under twenty big blinds as the short stack.

The idea of a deal was thrown up in the chat but it was THE_KAISER X who was to dismiss the suggestion as play continued on.

It was a decision which immediately paid dividends for THE_KAISER X who made a full house against zepokerplay to win a nice pot, before zepokerplay failed with a triple-barrel bluff on an eight-high board as THE_KAISER X called it down with an overpair holding pocket nines.

THE_KAISER X was now the one in the driver's seat, despite mAKsiKoz landing a double up with pocket sevens holding against THE_KAISER X's king-jack.

The chips were passed around the table for some time before something had to give:

It was a dramatic end for amnesia1804, who was dominated preflop before spiking a three-outer on the turn, only for the board to bring running clubs to give zepokerplay a winning flush. amnesia1804 picked up $1,519.88 for 4th place.

The three remaining players were quick to take a look at the numbers with an ICM deal agreed to, leaving $300 and the title in the middle to play for.

Upon the resumption of play, the players didn't waste any time getting their chips into the middle, although it was a fair cooler three-handed. THE_KAISER X committed with A♥Q♥ but ran smack into zepokerplay's K♣K♦. THE_KAISER X even found an ace on the flop, but it wasn't enough as the 6♦K♥A♣7♦2♣ board brought a set for zepokerplay for a game-changing double up.

zepokerplay would then go on to finish the job in equally brutal fashion:

zepokerplay was dominated but caught good to see THE_KAISER X finish with the biggest payout of the tournament, collecting a post-deal amount of $3,175.06 for 3rd place.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 1: mAKsiKoz (21,776,839 in chips)
Seat 6: zepokerplay (59,068,161 in chips)

zepokerplay held a near three-to-one chip lead, and won plenty of the early pots to extend that advantage further before the first big heads-up clash also proved to be the last. mAKsiKoz open-shipped for fourteen big blinds with 8♥6♦ with zepokerplay making the call holding J♠Q♣. The board fell T♥7♣7♦K♥Q♦ with the queen on the river sealing the deal for zepokerplay. mAKsiKoz took $2,793.41 for 2nd place with zepokerplay taking the MicroMillions title and $3,072.90 in prize money. Congratulations!
