MicroMillion7: A sweet score for Skkoorr16 in Event #40 ($5.50 NLHE 6-Max Turbo Knockout)

In a tournament that took a little over five hours to play down from 20,000 runners to a winner, it should come as no surprise that the final table took a mere twenty minutes to complete. When it began, the final table had a runaway chip leader in Natalia-tar, a pair of average-stacked contenders, and three short stacks hanging on for dear life (and a potential boost up the pay ladder). Once the short stacks succumbed and three were left standing, Malta's Skkoorr16 won a crucial coinflip to double through Natalia-tar and take the chip lead. Skkoorr16 ultimately eliminated Natalia-tar in third place and after a lickety-split heads-up match with hamsterutz, Skkoorr16 came away with his first MicroMillions title and a $10K+ return on his $5.50 investment.

20,505 players came out for Event #40, the total prize pool topping out at $104,575.50. $4.10 from each player's $5.50 buy-in went to the regular prize pool ($84,070.50) while $1 went to the bounty pool ($20,505.00). 2,700 places were paid with $10,483.14 going to the champion. A trio of Red Spades joined the field: Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz, Martin Hruby, and Tyler "frosty012" Frost, but none of them finished in the money.

Blinds were up to 300,000/600,000 on the final table bubble. On the three-handed table, Skkoorr16 opened for a button min-raise and KAPITANTZANO shoved for 6.85 million from the big blind. Skoorr16 called, his 6♥6♦ racing with A♥J♥. Skkoorr16's pair survived on the T♠3♦2♦4♣5♠ board and KAPITANTZANO went out just short of the final table in seventh place.

PIMP5783 and The_JokerG7 double

The final table's two shortest stacks doubled up early. PIMP5783 called hamsterutz's small blind shove with A♣7♣ in the big and turned aces up against K♥Q♦ to move up to 9.8 million in chips. Two hands later, The_JokerG7 shoved for 3.05 million from UTG and Natalia-tar shoved from UTG+1 to isolate. The_JokerG7's pocket fours held up against A♦Q♥ and he doubled to 7.9 million.

Spytnic runs QQ into KK

On the next deal, Natalia-tar opened for 1,688,000 from UTG, hamsterutz three-bet to 3,888,888, and spytnic shoved for 6.98 million on the button. From the small blind, Skkoorr16 looked down at K♥K♣ and shoved for 13.8 million, folding out both Natalia-rae and hamsterutz. Spytnic revealed Q♣Q♦ for quite the cooler and did not improve on the J♦6♥2♣5♥8♣ board. In addition to the 10 bounties spytnic had already collected, he picked up $959.24 for his sixth-place finish.

Natalia-tar nabs The_JokerG7, hamsterutz cuffs PIMP5783

Two hands later, the action folded to The_JokerG7 on the button and he moved all-in for 6.25 million with 7♣8♠. Natalia-tar reshoved from the small blind and revealed A♥Q♥. Natalia-tar caught an ace on the flop and ended The_JokerG7's run in fifth place ($1,521.67 + 14 bounties).

With only 2.96 million in chips and 1.2 million of them already committed in the big blind, PIMP5783 called all-in with A♥2♠ vs. hamsterutz's small blind shove. Hamsterutz was behind with Q♠5♥, but hit a five on the flop and rivered two pair to take down the pot. For fourth place, PIMP5783 took home $2,654.01 and 13 bounties.

Natalia-tar falls fast

As play turned three-handed, Natalia-tar still held the chip lead with 61.3 million, Skkoorr16 was second with 27.4 million and hamsterutz was the short stack with 13.9 million. After only two hands, Natalia-tar made a small blind shove with Q♠J♠ and unfortunately ran into hamsterutz's A♥Q♦ in the big blind. Hamsterutz's dominating hand held up and he doubled to 32.1 million.

Shortly thereafter, Skkoorr16 opened for 2.8 million on the button and Natalia-tar shoved for 50.2 million from the big blind. Skkoorr16 called, his 9♣9♠ up against K♦J♥. Skkoorr16's pocket nines held up on the 7♠4♠2♥2♣6♥ board and he took the chip lead with 44.8 million while Natalia-tar fell to 28.7 million.

Two hands later, Skkoorr16 opened K♠6♠ for 2.8 million from the small blind and Natalia-tar called from the big. Skkoorr16 led out for another 2.8 million on the 4♣3♠2♠ flop, Natalia-tar raised to 8.4 million and Skkoorr16 shoved for 42.9 million. Natalia-tar called, revealing Q♠9♠. Both players' flush draws came in on the 4♠ turn, Skoorr16's king-high flush besting Natalia-tar's queen-high flush. Skkoorr16 raked in the pot and eliminated Natalia-tar in third place, good for $5,083.74.
