MicroMillions 7: DIAS18 slays 6-max field in Event #3 ($3.30 NLHE 6-max)

Micro-stakes players welcomed their hour in the sun as PokerStars launched its seventh running of the MicroMillions. $5 million in guaranteed prize money is up for grabs over the next ten days, and each one of the opening day's events shattered expectations. Event #3 ($3.30 NLHE 6-max) was the MicroMillions 7's first freezeout, and 36,848 players answered the call, creating a $110,544.00 prize pool that more than doubled the $50K guarantee. 4,800 places were paid with $10,694.39 going to the champion. Red Spades Martin Hruby, Naoya Kihara, and Felix "xflixx" Schneiders joined the field, but unfortunately did not made the money.

Blinds were up to 250,000/500,000 with seven players remaining. At the four-handed table, Jacpot555 opened for a min-raise to 1,000,000 from under-the-gun and short stack czom shoved for his remaining 4.6 million from the big blind. Jacpot555 called, his J♣J♥ racing with K♣Q♦. Cozm didn't pair either of his overcards on the T♣9♦2♣8♥3♥ board and departed in seventh place, sending us to the final table.

Seat 1: heck520 (38,428,048 in chips)
Seat 2: change4time (26,483,495 in chips)
Seat 3: billy-sid (3,166,240 in chips)
Seat 4: DIAS18 (32,234,303 in chips)
Seat 5: Jacpot555 (29,721,132 in chips)
Seat 6: Birdiie (17,358,782 in chips)

Birdiie's last song

Billy-sid arrived at the final table with little more than six big blinds, but soon tripled through Birdiie and change4time when his A♠3♠ flopped two pair vs. A♥9♥. Up to 8.3 million, he doubled again six hands later, his A♥T♠ flopping a ten against DIAS18's pocket nines.

However, on the next deal, heck520 and Birdiie engaged in a preflop raising war, heck520 four-betting to 5.1 million and Birdiie calling to see a J♥T♥T♣ flop. Birdiie shoved for 8.2 million and heck520 called, his A♣A♦ crushing Birdiie's 9♥9♣. Birdiie found no miracle on the turn or river and was eliminated in sixth place, good for $983.84.

Jacpot555 surges to the lead

With the blinds up to 300,000/600,000 Jacpot555 picked up K♦T♦ and opened for 1.2 million from the small blind. Heck520 three-bet to 2.7 million and Jackpot555 called. Jacpot555 hit a flush draw on the 9♦7♦5♣ flop and check-raised to 8.4 million. Heck520 reraised to 16.8 million, Jackpot555 shoved and heck520 called, his 5♦7♣ leading with bottom two pair. However, Jacpot555 turned the 2♦ to make a king-high flush and raked in the massive pot, doubling to 53 million.

Now in the chip lead, Jacpot555 widened it even further when he picked up a 38.5 million pot. Preflop, change4time three-bet to 4.4 million from the big blind and button min-raiser Jacpot555 called. Change4time led out for 4.8 million on the Q♦6♠4♥ flop and Jacpot555 looked him up. The 4♠ turn paired the board and change4time fired another 9.6 million. Jacpot555 raised to 19.2 million and change4time surrendered the pot, leaving himself with 11 million while Jacpot555 surged to 74.2 million. Change4time, however, did reclaim some of those a couple of orbits later when he doubled back through Jacpot555, his A♠T♣ holding up vs. K♣Q♥.

heck520 picks off two

Down to less than 10 million with the blinds up to 500,000/1,000,000, billy-sid three-bet shoved on the button with A♣Q♦ and heck520 called with 2♦2♠. Although billy-sid took the lead on the A♠J♠5♠ flop, heck520 picked up a spade draw. The 6♦ turn was a blank, but heck520 filled his flush with the Q♠ river, ending billy-sid's run in fifth place ($1,543.19).

Moments later, heck520 finished off change4time. With the action folded to him in the small blind, heck520 open-shoved for 40.3 million and change4time called from the big. It was a race between change4time's A♦8♣ and heck520's pocket sixes, made even more dramatic with the A♠8♦6♠ flop. Heck520's set of sixes held against the aces and eights and change4time hit the rail in fourth place, earning $2,688.43.

The rise of DIAS18

With the field down to three, Jacpot555 retained the chip lead with 75 million, heck520 was a solid second with 56 million and DIAS18 was the short stack with 16 million. However, DIAS18 wouldn't remain short for long, as he picked up K♣K♥ and three-bet shoved right into heck520's A♦J♠. The pocket kings held up and DIAS18 doubled to 33 million.

At this point, fatigue had set in with heck520 declaring "i am tired." After a few more minutes of trading pots, all three agreed to pause the action and discuss a deal. Here's a look at how they stacked up at the time:

heck520 - 37,353,422
DIAS18 - 43,955,569
Jacpot55 - 66,083,009

All parties quickly agreed to an ICM chop that left $1,000 in play. With the vast majority of the prize pool accounted for, action resumed.

DIAS18 continued to chip away at his opponents, rising to 56.2 million while heck520 hit a slump and slipped to 19 million. Then, after flopping top pair against Jacpot555, DIAS18 took the chip lead away entirely:

The hand left Jacpot555 with 40.4 million while DIAS18 moved up to 89.2 million.

Moments later, heck520 open-shoved for 15.5 million from the button and DIAS18 reshoved from the small blind. DIAS18's T♥T♦ handily beat heck520's 2♠2♣ on the A♦J♣3♣4♦K♠ board and sent him to the rail in third place ($7,131.29).

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 4: DIAS18 (106,700,989 in chips)
Seat 5: Jacpot555 (40,691,011 in chips)

DIAS18 whittled Jacpot555 down to 33 million before doubling him up. After opening for 2.55 million on the button with 6♦8♦, DIAS18 made it 2.49 million to go on the 9♠3♠3♦ flop. Jacpot555 check-raised to 4.96 million and DIAS18 called. DIAS18 hit the 8♣ on the turn and called Jacpot555's 8.4 million bet. The river was the 4♣ and Jacpot555 shoved for his remaining 17.2 million. DIAS18 called, only to discover Jacpot555 had flopped trips with Q♥3♥.

Jacpot555 doubled to 66.6 million, but didn't hang on to it for long. DIAS18 ground his stack back up to 107 million and with the chip counts almost exactly where they were when this heads-up match began, DIAS18 completed his rise from short stack to champion. After both players flopped top pair, DIAS18 rivered top two, and Jacpot555 was unfortunate enough to shove the rest of his chips right into the winning hand:

Congratulations to DIAS18 on a skillful come-from-behind victory! Thanks to the three-handed deal, he picked up $8,411.97 for the win while runner-up Jacpot555 received $8,089.19.
