MicroMillions 7: Soelvis steals the show in Event #76 win ($2.20 NLHE)
March Madness is in the air for some of us as sports fans, not necessarily American college basketball fans, fill out brackets with hopes of winning an office pool or the one billion dollars put up by Warren Buffet. Just like the last possible perfect bracket went down tonight, no one will become a billionaire from the MicroMillions 7 series. However, it is possible to come away with a huge ROI, just like Soelvis did tonight during Event #76 after defeating a field of 24,048 to claim $4,601.19 on a $2.20 buy-in after chopping heads-up with menejele.
Half way through the ninth hour of play, the field of 24,048 held just 18 players at two tables looking to take down the $4,827.18 first place prize. Among the final players was MicroMillions III Event #68 champ Jacpot555 and nearly claimed a second title in this series during Event # 3 losing heads-up to DIAS18.
You can't and you won't and you don't stop iguftu come and rock the sure shot. SureShot26 was on the shortstack holding 722,124 chips before shoving preflop over iguftu's raise to 600,000 with the blinds up to 100K/200K ante 25K. iguftu quickly called with aces A♣A♦ as SureShot26's pocket fives 5♠5♣ could not challenge the bullets on the 9♥ 3♦ J♣ 7♦ A♥ board finishing in 18th place ($98.59).
20 minutes before the ninth hourly break iguftu was not able to build enough off taking on SureShot26 and was called down by LuckyDink74 on a bluff. $139.47 and 13th place for iguftu as bremp555 suffered the same tournament fate on the opposite table but got a pay bump in 12th place ($180.36).
IGOR777_9911 would take a flyer with 3♦6♦ after shoving 7.5 million over the top of a min-raise by bob_dcrolia. The scare tactic did not work as bob_dcrolia called with big slick K♥A♣. If scaring did not work the two treys on the 7♣ 9♣ 2♦ 3♣ 3♠ board did as the 15.5 million chip pot was shoved IGOR777_9911's way as bob_dcrolia took was $180.36 in 11th place.
Hand-for-hand play only took a minute as on the adjacent table mamamille would open shove for 5.2 million from the button as chip leader crewvaai re-raised to 9.9 million from the small blind. Soelvis took a nap as mamamille showed pocket fives 5♠5♣ hoping to outflip the A♣J♠ of crevaai. The ace on the flop 7♦ A♦ Q♦ J♥ 6♥ had other ideas as crevaai added the 11.2 million chip pot to the final table chip lead as shown below:
Seat 1: EVGESHA675 (4348152 in chips)
Seat 2: crevaai (27289786 in chips)
Seat 3: Jacpot555 (6552788 in chips)
Seat 4: IGOR777_9911 (15247987 in chips)
Seat 5: Soelvis (9068942 in chips)
Seat 6: menejele (8574558 in chips)
Seat 7: Mephissto (5507468 in chips)
Seat 8: LuckyDimk74 (6957591 in chips)
Seat 9: Lotroo (12644728 in chips)
Break then broken
One hand back from the five minute ninth hourly break with the blinds up to 250K/500K ante 62.5K EVGESHA675 would try to sweeten up a shortstack of 2.9 million by shoving from UTG. No callers all around the table until Lotroo decided to take a shot with J♦Q♠ in the big blind. The T♠5♠ of EVGESHA675 hardly nicked the 6♥ 3♠ 3♥ 6♦ J♥ board finishing the tournament in ninth place ($288.57).
With the blinds up to 300K/600K ante 75K and average chip stack under 20BBs, the players needed to rely on timely preflop shoves resulting in free chips or getting lucky with a flip. LuckyDimk74 leaned on the latter after four-bet shoving 11.1 million chips over the top of a min-raise by menejele and a shove of 2.2 million by Mephissto. The overshove got menejele out of the way as LuckyDimk74 turned up pocket threes 3♦3♣ hoping to survive Mephissto's 9♣A♣. No clubs nor aces on the 2♦ K♦ T♦ 4♥ 8♠ board sent Mephissto home in eighth place ($432.86). Tonight's final table appearance notched the ninth cash for the German during this series, inching closer to one of 100 spots that will receive a free Sunday Million (value $215.00) entry from the MicroMillions 7 Player of the Series race.
Hopping on out
Another blind raise later to 400K/800K ante 100K menejele would raise to 2.4 million from the cutoff as Lotroo down to 2.7 million shoved from the small blind holding pocket tens T♥T♠. menejele's K♠J♦ however found a couple of nice connections with the J♣ 2♣ 5♠ K♥ 6♦ board as the two pair sent Lotroo away in seventh place ($675.74).
Soelvis pulls away
Four hands later with the blinds staying the same the chip leader Soelvis would min-raise from the button as LuckyDimk74 made the call from the big blind. The coordinated J♣9♣Q♥ got LuckyDimk74 to pause as Soelvis followed through with a immediate shove for 21.1 million. With top pair 7♠Q♠ LuckyDimk74 was hoping for a bullying bluff. Instead the Russia saw Soelvis turn over the overpair of aces A♥A♠ and watched helplessly as the 3♠ and K♠ hit the board to complete LuckyDimk74's run in sixth place ($961.92).
Denied second title again
Jacpot555 will have to come back another time to claim a second MicroMillions title. With the blinds moving up to 500K/1MM ante 125K the former champ would call all-in for 6.3 million from the big blind against crevaai's open shove from the small blind. Watch below as crevaai was not just flexing position:
Jacpot555's K♣9♥ would hit the river but only after crevaai's A♦Q♦ flopped top pair 2♦ 2♣ A♣ 3♦ K♠ earning Jacpot555 another MicroMillions final table check in fifth place ($1,442.88).
Four hands later Soelvis would min-raise from the cutoff as IGOR777_9911 made it six million to go from the big blind. Soelvis hoping to make the opponent think twice about calling, shoved for 28.1 million. Instead, IGOR777_9911 could not call quickly enough with aces A♦A♠. Soelvis' K♦Q♥ got some assistance on the flop J♣7♦K♠ but nothing on the turn 2♠. The K♣ river however would ship the massive 37 million chip pot to Soelvia as IGOR777_9911 was left with questions and fourth place cash ($1,923.84).
Willing to gamble
The final three would pause for a few minutes to discuss their financial options as no one was going to win the $1 billion NCAA perfect bracket challenge at this point. With Soelvis holding a sizable lead, no deal could be hashed out as the players returned to 500K/1MM ante 125K blinds. crevaai would take a shot at the chip leader after raising to three million, the shove-happy Soelvis flexed the 52.3 million chip stack by pushing all-in from the small blind. menejele folded as crevaai called with J♠K♦. High card was good, as Soelvis' A♠8♦ required no help on the 3♣ 5♠ Q♣ 7♣ A♦ board to take away another huge pot (40.7 million) while eliminating crevaai in third place ($2,404.80).
We like money
Despite the 73.4 million to 22.7 million chip advantage Soelvis was willing to deal rather quickly with menejele. Five minutes later the final two money spots on the prize board were taken down and replaced with $400.00 left behind for the winner:
Soelvis (Ukraine) $4,201.19
menejele (Czech Republic) $3,800.00
Soelvis straightens out
The style of play pointed towards a quick ending to this heads-up battle.
And it was.
Six minutes later after a blind bump to 600K/1.2MM ante 150K menejele would three-bet to six million getting a call from Soelvis as the rather coordinated 9♣5♣6♣ got both players to dive in with the rest of their chips. 90.3 million chips in the middle and only winner allowed in this hand below:
Top pair and a straight draw 9♥8♦ for Soelvis was looking down at the flush draw and over pair of menejele T♠T♣. However, the straight for Soelvis hit on the turn 7♠ as the blank river 4♠ handed the MicroMillions 7 Event #76 title Soelvis!
