MicroMillions 7: zhenia.naxui maxes profit in victory during Event #16 [$2.20 NLHE]

Sometimes running a streak of good cards and good play is all the reason to go for maximum profit during a tournament and forego the chance to chop. Today's MicroMillion 7 Event #16 $2.20 NLHE tournament, Russia's o777oo77 was bulldozing the final table with timely big hands and aggression, but it would be Lithuania's zhenia.naxui finding the right mix at the end to claim the full $3,337.59 and the title.

A quarter past the eighth hour play only 18 players remained from the 11,968 paying crowd. Due to the rising blinds bubble time would only take an extra 30 minutes to reach. The financial differences between tenth and first would add a little caution to the final two groups of five with a $3,200 difference between taking home the MicroMillions Event #16 title and having this writer draft a dreary exit hand about the vanquished.

Unfortunately for natalis666, the Russian would receive the $100.53 bubble prize and the next couple of sentences in this tournament wrap. With the blinds up to 125K/250K ante 31.25K Mrozunio would min-raise from the cutoff as natalis666 shoved for 1.34 million from the big blind holding pocket jacks J♥J♦. Mrozunio covered while making the call with pocket tens T♦T♣. Any sparkly feeling of doubling up quickly abated for natalis666 as a ten hit the door T♥ 8♥ 5♥ K♣ 4♣ starting up the final table below:

Seat 1: Dvlz1 (1690404 in chips)
Seat 2: o777oo77 (7646530 in chips)
Seat 3: zhenia.naxui (11756703 in chips)
Seat 4: 3BEPb067 (4252564 in chips)
Seat 5: XBOCT (7737244 in chips)
Seat 6: Mrozunio (6290330 in chips)
Seat 7: 10birion (2646918 in chips)
Seat 8: jamesy71 (6829798 in chips)
Seat 9: ss1557 (10989509 in chips)

Momentum crushed

Any forward progress felt by Mrozunio after knocking off natalis666 to reach the final table was smashed in the hand before the ninth hourly break. With the blinds holding at 125K/250K ante 31.25K zhenia.naxui would raise to 660,000 from middle position as Mrozunio made the call on the button to see the J♦7♦J♥ flop. zhenia.naxui continued with a 948,375 chip bet as Mrozunio shoved for 4.4 million. Having flopped trips J♣6♣ zhenia.naxui made the call as Mrozunio showed a big straight flush draw T♦8♦. No diamonds or nines on the K♠ turn and A♣ river sent 10.9 million chips and the chip lead to zhenia.naxui as Mrozunio collected $150.79 in ninth place.

Well that escalated quickly

After the blinds moved up to 250K/500K ante 62.5K back-to-back eliminations would send the population of the final table from eight to six. Earlier 10birion slowplayed pocket aces, literally, waiting out the clock on the flop, turn, and river before turning over the winning hand. This time the roles were changed as 10birion faced a shove from o777oo77 after putting all but five chips. Holding big slick A♦K♣ 10birion made the call to see o777oo77's pocket rockets A♥A♠. No, delay on this board reveal 6♠ J♣ J♥ 4♥ 7♠ as 10birion won $239.36 in eighth place.

Next, ss1557 would shove a shortened stack of 2.68 million from early position as zhenia.naxui made the call from the button with Q♦J♣. ss1557's small ace would fall behind on the flop and despite the straight on the 9♠ T♣ J♥ 7♠ 8♦ board, zhenia.naxui's lady-high straight reigned sending ss1557 off in seventh place ($478.72).

I can't drive 77

The speed on the tournament at this point ramped up as just six hand later we would lose another player. Watch below as o777oo77 and 3BEPb067 get it all-in on the turn with the board showing 3♥ 7♥ J♦ J♠

Well... neither player had the jack despite shoving and calling on the turn but o777oo77's ace-high 5♠A♥ was enough to knockout the Q♣K♥ of 3BEPb067 in sixth place ($718.08).

ooooohhhh that hurts

With the blinds holding at 250K/500K ante 62.5K jamesy71 called a min-raise from o777oo77 in the big blind to see a 9♠Q♣A♦ flop. jamesy71 checked as o777oo77 pushed out a million. Trying to maximize value, jamesy71 check-raise all-in for 5.3 million holding a flopped two pair 9♦Q♠. Thanks to a chip leading stack o777oo77 had the funds to gamble and called with a gutshot draw K♥T♦. And thanks to that draw filling on the turn J♣ o777oo77 avoided the four-outer on the 2♠ river to send jamesy71 away in fifth place ($957.44).

o777oo77 is the 1%

While brief whispers of a deal floated over the table, nothing concrete materialized partially due to o777oo77 holding 27.5 million chips while the other three barely equaled that amount together. Towards the end of the 250K/500K ante 62.5 blind level o777oo77 min-raised from the cutoff as XBOCT played some blind defense and shoved from the small blind holding 9♦A♦. But, o777oo77 had the goods once again showing pocket aces A♠A♣ and both watched the five board 8♥ 8♠ T♠ 6♥ K♦ favor the chip leader as XBOCT received $1,196.80 in fourth place.

Clinging to nothing

Give Dvlz1 a lot of credit for hanging in there for two blind levels as the shortstack managed to swipe enough chips to survive but not breach the massive stacks of o777oo77 (33.5 million) or zhenia.naxui (21.9 million). With the blinds up to 400K/800K ante 100K o777oo77 went with another min-raise from the button as Dvlz1 shoved from the big blind. More premium cards for o777oo77 showing big slick A♦K♦ as Dvlz1 had two live suited cards holding Q♠9♠. Nine on flop gave hope, but the king on the turn 5♣ 9♣ 7♣ K♣ 4♥ took it away as Dvlz1 earned $1,675.52 in third place.

Flipped then claimed

zhenia.naxui offered a chance to chop up the final two spots but with no positive answer to take a break for talks the final two got right into their heads-up battle. A dozen hands in zhenia.naxui would take the lead after doubling through o777oo77 when 8♥5♥ caught just enough of the 4♣ 6♦ 8♦ 9♠ 3♠ board against o777oo77's big slick A♣K♠.

Five hands later o777oo77 would equalize the chip count after pushing preflop and getting K♥8♣ to hit over zhenia.naxui's T♠A♠ on the 9♥ 3♦ 6♦ K♣ 4♦ board. But, the aggressiveness from zhenia.naxui over the next few minutes shifted the lead right back into this final hand below:

o777oo77 went with J♦9♠ preflop as zhenia.naxui answered with a call holding A♠2♦. o777oo77 hit a nine on the flop but the ace on the river 9♣ Q♣ 4♦ T♣ A♦ shipped the final pot and the MicroMillion 7 Event #16 title to zhenia.naxui winning $3,337.59!
