MicroMillions 8: benjim celebrates in style in Event #100 ($1+R NLHE Hyper-Turbo)

The magical century had been reached. In cricket, we would raise our bats in triumph but in the world of online poker, we celebrated 100 events of the MicroMillions in the best way possible - a one dollar, hyper-turbo rebuy event!

That's right, for the entry fee of just $1 players had the chance to go a little crazy as an enormous field of 11,035 was reduced to a winner in just two-and-a-half hours of play. And the one to survive the carnage was Canadian benjim after a three-way deal netted $6,479.03, which is not a bad hourly for a micro-limit player!

The field would combine for 39,317 rebuys and another 6,234 add-ons to create a total prize pool of $55,454.28 to almost double the advertised guarantee.

The top 1,440 players would reach the money with Israel's kiteloop15 the unlucky one to miss out on the $8.87 min-cash by the narrowest of margins as the official bubble. One who did reach the money was PokerStars Team Online's Tyler Frost but unfortunately Frost would progress no further than 1,373rd place for $8.87 in prize money. As someone who has played pretty much every event on the MicroMillions schedule, Frost can now afford himself a little sleep!

It would take just over two hours of madness to reach the final table. When Proffo64's ace-ten was out-flopped by the king-jack of fatoms26, the final table of nine would line up as follows:

Final Table Line Up
Seat 1: HOLDEM2ME49 (2,061,464 in chips)
Seat 2: fatoms26 (15,660,448 in chips)
Seat 3: kokobloko10 (1,732,144 in chips)
Seat 4: Wouaz (4,364,135 in chips)
Seat 5: claudioney18 (5,878,937 in chips)
Seat 6: Cranky<3 (12,298,756 in chips)
Seat 7: benjim (22,049,522 in chips)
Seat 8: Penari86 (7,790,534 in chips)
Seat 9: vanov04 (9,686,060 in chips)

The final table blinds commenced at 400k/800k/160k which meant over half of our final table would start under ten big blinds. Yep, things were able to get crazy!

Wouaz caught an early double up with ace-king against fatoms26's queen-jack, but next hand, Wouaz wasn't quite so fortunate. Wouaz open-jammed from early position with 8♣8♦ but ran into Cranky<3's K♣K♠. The board landed 2♠A♥4♦6♣A♠ to see Wouaz on the rail in ninth place for $377.08.

The hyper-turbo structure was always going to encourage the players to want a deal, but it was surprising to see it discussed so early on the final table.

Penari86 said, "if u guys wanna deal"
Penari86 said, "im happy 2"
Penari86 said, "this makes no sense at all :)"
Penari86 said, "donkfest all along"
Cranky<3 said, "maybe later at me!"
fatoms26 said, "lets deal. too much lottery here"
Penari86 said, "id say the one who made most rebuys should win the most"
Penari86 said, "i made 31 rebuys"
Penari86 said, "i went into addon break with 1500 chips.... 31 rebuys didnt win a single hand haha"

While that chat was going down, the rapidly-rising blinds got hold of kokobloko10. With one million already committed in the big blind, kokobloko10 threw out a few thousand more to be all in against benjim who had raised from early position. kokobloko10 opened A♠8♦ but benjim had a monster with K♥K♣. The flop landed Q♦5♠A♥ and kokobloko10 found the ace to take the lead with two cards to come. The T♠ turn gave benjim a straight draw, but it was the K♠ that landed on the river like a dagger through the heart of kokobloko10. $554.54 would be added to the bankroll of kokobloko10 for eighth place.

HOLDEM2ME49 would be next to fall, moving all in from middle position for just under three big blinds with A♦3♦. fatoms26 made the call with a dominating A♣8♥ and the domination continued through the board of 7♣8♦4♥2♥Q♠. HOLDEM2ME49 exited in seventh place for $1,109.08.

The deal talk continued as the bustouts kept coming with claudioney18 the next to go. The blinds kicked up again as claudioney18 was all in for just over two big blinds with J♦T♥. fatoms26 and Cranky<3 both called, with Cranky<3 getting a bet into the side pot on the turn before fatoms26 eventually folded the river on the 6♣7♣4♦5♠2♣ board. There was nothing there for claudioney18 with just jack-high as Cranky<3 showed A♥8♠ for a straight to take it down. claudioney18 would finish in sixth place for a $1,663.62 collect.

One more hand and yet another elimination as the entertaining banter of Penari86 was silenced. Penari86 moved all in from the cutoff position with 5♠5♥ and the giant-killing Cranky<3 decided to make the call with A♣5♣ in the big blind. The flop was a bare K♦8♠9♠ but Cranky<3 wasn't so cranky when the A♥ appeared on the turn. Penari86 was down to just one card in the deck to stay alive but the J♦ wasn't it as Penari86 departed in fifth place for nice return on the 31 rebuys of $2,218.17.

vanov04 landed a rare double up with pocket jacks to slow Cranky<3's momentum with ace-eight, but it was only temporary as next hand Cranky<3 claimed the scalp of fatoms26. In a battle of the blinds, fatoms26 moved all in for two-and-a-half big blinds with 9♠8♣ as Cranky<3 was priced to call with any two, and did so with 5♦3♦. The board fell Q♥A♦K♠3♣6♦ with a lowly pair of threes enough to land another knockout. fatoms26 was out in fourth but took home $2,772.71 in prize money.

With three players remaining, they were finally able to coordinate all three to click the deal button to pause the clock, catch their breath and look at potential numbers. The players quickly agreed to ICM numbers with Cranky<3 taking the lion's share, leaving $600 aside for the eventual champion.

When play commenced it would be benjim who stormed to the top of the counts with a massive clash against Cranky<3. The chips were in preflop with Cranky<3 getting aggressive from the small blind with Q♣6♣ and benjim making a solid call in the big blind with 2♥A♠. The board was presented 3♣K♠4♦5♠A♥ which gave benjim a wheel straight for the double up to leave Cranky<3 crippled.

Cranky<3 was down to under the cost of the small blind and all in from the button on the next hand. benjim decided to get out of the way as vanov04 already had enough in the big blind to cover the all in. Cranky<3 showed a respectable A♣8♦ but incredibly vanov04 woke up with K♦K♣ in the big blind! The board ran out 3♠7♦5♠8♥5♣ to see Cranky<3 bounced out in third place for a total of $6,056.58 following a favourable deal.

Heads-up Chip Counts
Seat 7: benjim (61,723,332 in chips)
Seat 9: vanov04 (19,798,668 in chips)

benjim took a three-to-one chip advantage into heads-up play and things were pretty tight in the early goings with the blinds passed back and forth. With the blinds kicking up to 1.25M/2.5M/500k, vanov04 slipped back to ten big blinds and was forced to make a move. With K♦6♥, vanov04 moved all in from the button but benjim made the call with A♠9♦. Both players flopped a pair but the board of 9♣6♠3♦8♣T♠ would deliver a pair of nines for benjim to grab the win!

A great run by vanov04 ended in second place for $4,884.10 as benjim lands the 100th and final MicroMillions title of the series along with a handsome $6,479.03 in prize money. Not bad for two-and-a-half hours of work!
