MicroMillions 8: Give the win to wwwwwwwwm in Event #52 ($5.50 NLHE)

There were no gimmicks to Event #52 of the MicroMillions 8 series. There were no rebuys. No add-ons. No short-handed play. No turbo structure. This was a pure No Limit Holdem freezeout tournament. The classic format that gave birth to tournament poker as we know it. And the micro limit players gave it their stamp of approval, speaking with their collective virtual footprint, as a huge field turned out to be a part of it. Above all, there was one player who enjoyed it more than any other and that was Brazil's wwwwwwwwm. What wwwwwwwwm lacked in vowels, were made up for with well-timed aggression, a dose of gamble and plenty of courage in an impressive performance that turned $5.50 into $7,743.41 and the MicroMillions title.

A field of 11,052 came together for Event #52 of the MicroMillions 8 series. The event was a $5.50 No Limit Holdem event that guaranteed a $30,000 prize pool, but that figure was almost doubled as $55,260 would be shared among the top 1,440 finishers.

PokerStars Team Online's Tyler Frost was again in the thick of the micro action but was an early casualty in this one.

When Brazil's alsconde was bundled out on the bubble in 1,441st place, the remaining players had secured at least $8.84 in prize money. That was nice, but they were all eyeing off that top prize of over $7,700!

After nine hours of play, just nine players would still have that dream alive:

Final Table Line up
Seat 1: powerballft (892,864 in chips)
Seat 2: PozorAlex (12,416,871 in chips)
Seat 3: Servej (3,367,547 in chips)
Seat 4: KoMiTeKrade (1,648,540 in chips)
Seat 5: wwwwwwwwm (9,712,061 in chips)
Seat 6: bazinda (7,223,316 in chips)
Seat 7: thccb (2,589,820 in chips)
Seat 8: Tibery Huck (7,904,000 in chips)
Seat 9: Vadim$koz (9,504,981 in chips)

wwwwwwwwm started the final table in a blaze of glory with a couple of big pairs, including K♣K♦ to eliminate the short-stacked powerballft.

powerballft was all in preflop for just two-and-a-half big blinds, with both wwwwwwwwm and Tibery Huck making the call to see a flop of 4♠J♣3♣. wwwwwwwwm got a bet into the side pot with pocket kings before Tibery Huck flashed the J♠ and folded to another bet on the Q♣ turn. powerballft showed A♦K♠ and couldn't improve on the 4♣ river. powerballft finished in ninth place and received $375.76.

KoMiTeKrade would fall on the very next hand, three-betting all in with T♣T♥ but PozorAlex had that pipped with J♣J♦. The board of K♥6♦4♦9♣K♣ changed nothing as KoMiTeKrade was out in eighth place for $552.60.

wwwwwwwwm and Tibery Huck were the two big stacks and also the most active at the table as they certainly weren't afraid of tangling with each other. However PozorAlex joined them at the top of the counts when the short-stacked thccb moved all in preflop with a pretty 7♦6♦. Once again there were two callers with PozorAlex shaking off Tibery Huck with a bet on the turn on the Q♦9♠3♥3♣ board. PozorAlex showed 3♠A♣ and it was all over for thccb. The meaningless river was the K♦ to see thccb depart in seventh place for a handy four-figure collect of $1,105.20.

PozorAlex would continue the momentum, winning another big pot from wwwwwwwwm without showdown, but wwwwwwwwm got some of those chips back with the elimination of Servej. Action folded around to Servej in the small blind who moved all in for around seven big blinds with A♠6♥. wwwwwwwwm was in the big blind and made the call with K♠8♠, before improving to a full house on the K♣7♣9♥K♥9♣ board. Servej was out in sixth place for $1,657.80 in prize money.

wwwwwwwwm continued to drive the action, and collected a nice pot from Tibery Huck with a couple of streets of value with ace-ten on an ace-high board.

Tibery Huck was severely dented and moved all in next hand with a rather underwhelming 6♦J♣. The timing wasn't great as wwwwwwwwm wasn't going to let go of K♣A♣ with the board running out 7♣K♥8♥4♥6♥. Neither player held a heart, so the pair of kings was enough to remove Tibery Huck in fifth place for $2,210.40.

wwwwwwwwm continued to pound on the other three players, playing the role of big-stacked bully, but it would be PozorAlex who took care of bazinda in the next elimination.

PozorAlex opened and wwwwwwwwm called before bazinda moved all in with A♣J♠. PozorAlex made the call with K♠Q♥ as wwwwwwwwm got out of the way. The flop of 3♥3♠9♠ left bazinda in front but the Q♣ turn paired up PozorAlex to leave bazinda in trouble. There was no ace from space this time as the T♣ landed on the river to see bazinda depart in fourth place for $2,763.00 in prize money.

By this stage Vadim$koz was extremely short but had done well to jump up the pay brackets. Vadim$koz found two consecutive double ups to move from two big blinds up to around ten, and then a short time later flopped top pair with jack-ten to double up again through wwwwwwwwm's ace-queen.

However wwwwwwwwm would have the last laugh. When Vadim$koz opened with a hefty 3.5x raise, wwwwwwwwm moved all in over the top. Vadim$koz made the call and showed 8♥8♠ but wwwwwwwwm notched that with 9♠9♦. The board fell K♦T♦2♣A♥6♥ to see the nines hold and leave Vadim$koz to pick up an impressive $3,978.72 for third place.

Heads-up Chip Counts
Seat 2: PozorAlex (28,905,307 in chips)
Seat 5: wwwwwwwwm (26,354,693 in chips)

Things were close to even when the heads-up battle began but ultimately the aggression of wwwwwwwwm, which had served well all tournament, allowed the Brazilian to take down more pots uncontested. In fact, of the 21 heads-up pots played, wwwwwwwwm won fifteen of them, including the two most significant.

The first saw PozorAlex pull a move with a raise on the turn on a 8♣3♠8♦2♦ board. wwwwwwwwm called before PozorAlex decided against bluffing the 6♠ river with Q♠J♥ for just queen high. wwwwwwwwm tabled A♣2♣ for the best hand to take a strong lead.

A few more hands would pass before PozorAlex open-jammed preflop for over 17 big blinds with J♠5♠ but wwwwwwwwm snapped it off with T♥T♣. The flop of 6♥2♠7♠ brought hope to PozorAlex with a flush draw, but the 9♥ turn and 2♣ river bricked the board to see wwwwwwwwm's perfect tens hold true.

It was a great run by PozorAlex who took home $5,636.52 for second place as wwwwwwwwm wins the MicroMillions title for Brazil, turning $5.50 into $7,743.41! Congratulations!
