MicroMillions 8: Guynessenuts grinds out a win in Event #42 ($5.50 NLHE)

The MicroMillions 8 continued drawing massive fields and smashing guarantees as its fifth day of action came to a close. It's pretty incredible that with 19,838 entrants, Event #42 ($5.50 NLHE) was only the second-largest MicroMillions field of the day (top honors went to Event #41 with over 31,000 players) and the $99,190.00 prizepool nearly doubled the $50k guarantee. 2,700 places were paid with first place set to earn $9,933.32. Representing the Red Spades were Team Online's Tyler "frosty012" Frost and Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome along with Team Pro Naoya Kihara, who cashed in 1,599th place.

The blinds were up to 200,000/400,000 on the final table bubble. Dealt K♥Q♥ on the button, short stack 5inchHeels moved in for 1.57 million and 85tunata85 called from the big blind with K♣7♦. 5inchHeels's dominating hand held up through the turn, but 85tunata85 spiked a river seven to send him home in tenth place.

skeldon87 succumbs in ninth

Down to only 2.4 million, nanarey nearly tripled to 6.6 million on the second hand of play when his A♥K♣ held against fat boar's A♦T♣. Then, with the blinds up to 400,000/800,000, nanarey doubled again when his A♣K♠ four-flushed on the river vs. skeldon87's pocket queens. Skeldon87 was left with only 2.42 million after the hand. On the very next hand, the action folded to Guynessenuts in the small blind and he opened for a 4x raise to 3.2 million. Skeldon87 called all-in, his Q♣3♠ dominated by Q♠4♠. Guynessenuts flopped a four and skeldon87 was eliminated in ninth place, good for $595.14.

matejr exits in eighth

Meanwhile, matejr had slipped all the way to 871,000 and was all-in from the big blind vs. two limpers-- Guynessenuts and fat boar. Both active players checked down the 8♣4♠2♣7♦2♥ board, Guynessenuts turning up Q♦T♠ and fat boar revealing A♦9♦. Matejr mucked and fat boar took down the pot with ace high, eliminating matejr in eighth place ($892.71).

Guynessenuts coolers sash2k

Sash2k got a much-needed doubled up when his K♥8♠ held up against Guynessenuts's 9♦T♣ in a pre flop all-in. However, on the next deal, chatoman open-shoved for 1.58 million and Guynessenuts called from the small blind. Sash2k overcalled from the big blind and the flop fell Q♠8♥5♠. Guynessenuts bet 1.5 million and sash2k called. The turn was the 2♠ and Guynessenuts fired again, this time for 2.5 million. Sash2k called all-in for 2.43 million, his 9♣9♥ trailing Guynessenuts's T♥T♠. The river was the K♦ and sash2k hit the rail in seventh place, good for $1,487.85.

Two hands later, Joke2483 open-shoved for 5.3 million from UTG and chatoman looked him up with A♥T♠ in the big blind. Joke2483's K♠Q♠ did not improve and he went out in sixth place, collecting $2,479.75.

nanarey crushed by queens

Only a few minutes passed before the blinds were up to 600,000/1,200,000 and nanarey opened for 2.53 million from the cutoff. 85tunata85 three-bet shoved from the small blind and nanarey called the additional 847,000, revealing Q♥K♥. 85tunata85 had nanarey in dire shape with Q♣Q♠ and the ladies held up, ending nanarey's run in fifth place ($3,471.65).

chatoman doubles through fat boar, Guynessenuts finishes him off

As play turned four-handed, chatoman was the smallest stack remaining, his 8.06 million totaling less than six big blinds. When fat boar opened for 3.5 million from the cutoff, chatoman found T♥T♦ on the button and three-bet shoved. Fat boar called with A♦9♣ but chatoman made a king-high straight on the J♠9♥6♣K♣Q♠ board to double his stack.

Fat boar was left with only 6 million and a few hands later, he three-bet shoved from the big blind with A♠Q♦. Guynessenuts called with an inferior K♦3♠, but made a king-high straight on the Q♠J♠9♣4♠T♦ board, eliminating fat boar in fourth place ($4,463.55).

85tunata85 out in third

Chatoman got a boost, doubling to 30.4 million when he three-bet shoved pre flop with A♦J♣ and turned a pair of aces against Guynessenuts's pocket fours. Then, on the next deal, chatoman opened for 3,521,000 on the button and 85tunata85 moved all-in for 14.2 million from the small blind. Chatoman's A♠T♥ flopped two pair against 85tunata85's A♥7♠, the board running out A♦T♠8♠Q♣9♦ to end 85tunata85's run in third place ($5,951.40).

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 3: Guynessenuts (52,745,864 in chips)
Seat 8: chatoman (46,444,136 in chips)

Chatoman took a slight chip lead early in the match when he check-raised all-in on a 8♠2♣9♥Q♥ board and Guynessenuts gave up his hand. Guynessenuts ground back to even and with the chip counts virtually deadlocked, chatoman struck again. With the board reading K♠7♥4♦5♦ on the turn, Guynessenuts bet 7.2 million and chatoman raised to 17.6 million. Guynessenuts tanked for quite a while before folding and fell to 29.3 million in chips.

A few minutes passed before chatoman and Guynessenuts saw a T♠8♥3♥ flop for 4.8 million apiece. Both players checked and the Q♦ came on the turn. Guynessenuts led out for 4 million and chatoman called. The river was the 5♠ and Guynessenuts made it another 7.2 million to go. Chatoman raised to 14.4 million, Guynessenuts shoved and chatoman called, his Q♥4♥ trailing Guynessenuts's Q♠J♦. Guynessenuts raked in the 58.7 million pot, leaving chatoman on 40.4 million.

Over the next level, chatoman slipped to 26.8 million before Guynessenuts called his 12.55 million shove. Although chatoman's J♦7♥ was dominated by Q♣J♥, chatoman flopped trip sevens and turned sevens full of jacks, good for a double-up to 25.8 million.

However, chatoman didn't hang on to those chips for long. Four hands later, chatoman open-shoved for 19.6 million with A♣Q♥ and Guynessenuts called with A♠7♣. Although his hand was dominated preflop, Guynessenuts hit a seven on the 7♦4♣4♠2♣6♦ board to lock up the win.

Congratulations to the U.K.'s Guynessenuts on his MicroMillions title! He banked $9,933.32 for the win while runner-up chatoman earned $7,921.31.
