MicroMillions 8: kocall too good in Event #35 ($5.50 1R1A NLHE)

The MicroMillions 8 series rolls on as players around the world take the opportunity to take pocket change and turn it into thousands of dollars. That opportunity didn't elude kocall this evening. Hailing from Greece, kocall was successful in turning five bucks into almost eight thousand dollars, overcoming a huge field of 4,858 players in an impressive display on the PokerStars felt.

The event was a $5.50 No Limit Holdem event with one optional rebuy and add-on. That option was exercised by many with 3,405 rebuys and 1,625 add-ons swelling the prize pool to a massive $49,440.

PokerStars Team Online member Tyler Frost narrowly missed the money for the top 630 players, but it wasn't as narrow as the tournament of Brazil's k3njii who was our bubble in 631st place.

With $17.79 locked up, the players looked to climb the pay brackets and make a run at the big money.

It would take a little over eight hours of total play before the final table bubble would burst. In a battle of the blinds, igotchu99 three-bet all in from the big blind with king-nine but was dominated by kocall's ace-nine. Another ace on the flop and our final table of nine was set as follows:

Final Table Line up
Seat 1: zaramella09 (4,257,598 in chips)
Seat 2: starcityoldi (11,692,702 in chips)
Seat 3: kocall (7,025,028 in chips)
Seat 4: Ivan24ru (8,733,555 in chips)
Seat 5: SancaPanca (2,968,241 in chips)
Seat 6: MSAKI (11,441,795 in chips)
Seat 7: TJ_K.E.V (727,665 in chips)
Seat 8: AndisR1 (1,997,971 in chips)
Seat 9: Meesh710 (595,445 in chips)

With the final table blinds starting at 160k/320k/20k there were a couple of real shorties but it would take just one hand for Meesh710 to find a double up with pocket sevens flopping a set against SancaPanca's ace-king. Moments later and TJ_K.E.V did likewise with king-jack pairing the king against kocall's queen-eight as the short stacks found some life.

It would take a few orbits to lose our first player, but when it happened, it opened the floodgates with five eliminations within the space of just nine hands.

AndisR1 was also on the shorter side, but finding pocket aces at the right time delivered a double up as zaramella09 was unfortunate to have held pocket kings in a brutal cooler. zaramella09 was crippled and all in moments later with Q♥6♥ against Ivan24ru's A♦K♦. zaramella09 held live cards but couldn't connect on the board of K♣9♣7♦9♠8♥ and had to be content with $395.52 for ninth place.

TJ_K.E.V would soon follow after making a move at a flop of 5♣5♦K♠ with just T♥8♣ but didn't have enough chips to make starcityoldi fold Q♠J♠. The K♦ turn and 9♥ river left the queen kicker to play to eliminate TJ_K.E.V in eighth place for $618.00 in prize money.

Very next hand and Meesh710 would also hit the rail. Meesh710 called it off in the big blind with Q♦J♥ after SancaPanca shoved from the cutoff with A♠7♦. The board fell 8♦A♣3♣5♦K♥ to pair the ace and leave Meesh710 to depart in seventh place. That was worth a four-figure return of $1,112.40.

SancaPanca might have been looking to continue the momentum, but two hands later, SancaPanca was also on the sidelines. From under the gun, SancaPanca moved ten big blinds all in with 3♥3♠ but ran into kocall's 8♦8♣. The community cards arrived K♠Q♥K♣J♠7♦ leaving the eights in front and sending SancaPanca packing in sixth place for $1,606.80.

Just two more hands would pass before AndisR1 would leave us with our final four. AndisR1 was pretty unlucky after getting the chips in good in a battle of the blinds. From the small blind, MSAKI shoved all in with Q♦T♦ and AndisR1 made a good call for nearly fourteen big blinds with a dominant K♦Q♣. However the board cruelly ran out T♠3♦5♦7♠6♠ to give MSAKI a perfect ten and eliminate AndisR1 in fifth place for $2,101.20 in prize money.

After the flurry of activity, play would settle down a little four-handed with the majority of pots kept fairly small. MSAKI and starcityoldi started to make their move towards the top of the chip counts with the pressure shifting onto Ivan24ru as the short stack.

With a little over five big blinds, Ivan24ru moved all in from the button with 4♥4♦ and the race was on against MSAKI's A♠Q♠. The board would run out A♥3♣3♥K♣J♠ to pair the ace and end the run of Ivan24ru in fourth place for a collect of $2,793.36.

A huge clash between starcityoldi and MSAKI would see starcityoldi get three streets of value with a full house to take a chunk from MSAKI's stack . MSAKI would swing back and forth, with a double up against starcityoldi, before running top pair into the straight of kocall to drop back down again.

When both kocall and MSAKI made trip aces, it was kocall's kicker that collected the pot to see MSAKI in some trouble as the short stack. With under nine big blinds, MSAKI moved all in with 9♣Q♣ from the small blind and starcityoldi made the call with 6♥6♣. The board was spread 5♣J♠7♣A♦2♠ missing the overcards and removing MSAKI in third place for a $4,078.80 score.

Heads-up Chip Counts
Seat 2: starcityoldi (21,859,788 in chips)
Seat 3: kocall (27,580,212 in chips)

The players were pretty close to even in chips, and after exchanging blinds for a handful of hands, the final blow was struck.

From the button, kocall would min-raise and starcityoldi defended the big blind to see a A♥7♣T♥ flop fall. Action checked to kocall who made a continuation bet, but starcityoldi came back with a check-raise. kocall made the call and the K♦ appeared on the turn. starcityoldi led out with another bet but this time it was kocall's turn to raise. starcityoldi called as a huge pot was already in the middle before the 4♣ completed the board. starcityoldi checked and kocall moved all in. With tournament life on the line, starcityoldi called it off with 7♥4♥ for a flush draw that ended up with two pair, but kocall tabled a powerhouse T♦T♣ for a set of tens to take it down!

A great run by starcityoldi would end in second place for $5,759.76 as the MicroMillions title heads to Greece as kocall collected the top prize of $7,759.02. Congratulations!
