MicroMillions 8: piGoFF.ru rounds up to a $16K win after four-way chop in Event #11 ($11 NLHE, 6-Max.)
MicroMillions is back for its eighth edition as once again the low stakes players take the stage with five million in guarantees to whet the appetite of those with small bankrolls to take a shot at large fields and big cash. Point in case, tonight's Event # 11 $11 NLHE (6-max) tournament promised a $100,000 prize pool but thanks to the 15,158 players, there would be two people going away with a five-figure score tonight. Even after the four-way chop, piGoFF.ru and franco817821 turned their $11 buy-in into over $14K. But, piGoFF.ru would would overcome a big chip deficit to take away tonight's title and $16,314.83
Down to two tables and nine players remaining, chip leader franco817821 was holding court on Table 277 looking to make a big push towards the final table and that $20K sitting up top. wtrmtng would prevent franco817821 from extending that lead to an obscene amount after catching an ace A♥ J♦ 2♦ 3♣ 2♠ while holding big slick K♠A♣ against franco817821's pocket kings K♣K♥.
Meanwhile on Table 314 ssswib85 would kindly ask Bemo_RTS to leave the table. With the blinds moving up to 150K/300K ante 37.5K ssswib85 would lead for 900,000 as Bemo_RTS shove from the button for 5.35 million. Undeterred, ssswib85 made the call holding Q♣A♣ flipping against Bemo_RTS' pocket tens T♣T♦. Two aces on the flop A♦ 7♦ A♥ 5♠ J♠ sent Bemo_RTS to the rail in ninth place ($1,288.43). The loss flip prevent Bemo_RTS from returning to a MicroMillions final table after reaching the MicroMillions 4 Event #5 final nine and earning $1,384.42 in sixth place.
Christ-lau played a shortstack admirably while dodging the constant raises of franco817821. Then, with the blinds up to 200K/400K ante 50K Christ-lau would get a shot to climb out of desperation mode after shoving 5.5 million over the top of a 1.6 million raise by franco817821. The chip lead made the call holding pocket tens T♠T♥ as Christ-lau would try to use A♣7♣ to rise again. No aces and a lack of clubs on the Q♦ 2♦ 4♦ Q♣ T♦ board sent Christ-lau to the sidelines in eighth place ($1,288.43) setting up hand-for-hand play.
With the blinds moving up to 250K/500K ante 62.5K piGoFF.ru would min-raise from the cutoff as ssswib85 called out of the big blind. No one touched the Q♥7♣7♦ flop but piGoFF.ru would stab for a million on the turned 9♠. ssswib85 check-raised all-in for 5.3 million as piGoFF.ru made the call the turned pair 9♦A♥. ssswib85 showed the fabulous 2♣4♣ which was unfortunately drawing dead as the spotlights came on Table 277 for the final table below:
Seat 1: bank1r27 (9653040 in chips)
Seat 2: AlexSchulman (4993523 in chips)
Seat 3: Antonovec (9852872 in chips)
Seat 4: franco817821 (17505548 in chips)
Seat 5: wtrmtng (13122789 in chips)
Seat 6: piGoFF.ru (20662228 in chips)
franco817821 takes charge again
Despite piGoFF.ru holding the chip lead, it would only take eight hands for franco817821 to take charge and eliminate the first player from the final table. With the blinds holding at 250K/500K ante 62.5K AlexSchulman would three bet all-in for 3.8 million after a franco817821 raise. Holding A♦Q♥ franco817821 would make the call, dominating AlexSchulman's J♣A♥. A queen on the flop 5♣ Q♣ 2♥ 5♦ T♦ would prove to a death knell for AlexSchulman in sixth place ($1,818.96).
Just before the nine and half hour mark and a five minute break imminent, bank1r27 would toss in a shortstack of 2.31 million as it folded around to wtrmtng in the small blind holding K♥J♣. Already in for 300K after the blind raise to 300K/600K ante 75K, wtrmtng made the call as bank1r27 showed the dominated K♣T♣. A jack on the turn 8♣ 8♦ 6♦ J♥ 6♠ would lock things up for wtrmtng as bank1r27 collected $3,031.60 in fifth place.
A few minutes after bank1r27's elimination the foursome would pause the tournament to discuss chip chop deal. After a little language barrier was broken by PokerStars Host Juan, the foursome set aside the MicroMillions8 title and $2,000 to play for.
franco817821 (Venezuela): $14,382.67
piGoFF.ru (Russia): $14,314.83
Antonovec (Russia): $9,812.68
wtrmtng (Japan): $9,810.93
Shortly after chopping up the funds, piGoFF.ru would take a huge 26.4 million chip pot off the former chip leader franco817821 boost the stack up to nearly 40 million chips. But, six hands later franco817821 would get revenge. With the blinds up to 400K/800K ante 100K franco817821 would lead with a four million chip raise as wtrmtng shoved for 9.3 million from the button. piGoFF.ru went looking for a double elimination by raising to 14.6 million as franco817821 shoved all-in for 15.6 million holding big slick K♦A♠. piGoFF.ru made the small call with pocket queens Q♠Q♦ as wtrmtng needed a lot of help holding K♥J♦. The king in the door K♣ 9♥ 5♥ 9♠ 4♣ would help only franco817821 to claim the 41.8 million chip pot as wtrmtng took away $9,810.93 in fourth place.
Knocking them down
franco817821 was determined to take down this title after claiming that large pot and came one step closer just six hands later. With the blinds holding at 400K/800K ante 10K Antonovec would open shove from the button for 11 million holding 4♥A♠. franco817821 attempting to shut out piGoFF.ru, also shoved for 42.3 million. The big raise worked as piGoFF.ru folded and franco817821 turned over the dominate T♠A♥. A missed straight draw and no pairs on the 5♣ J♥ 6♠ 8♠ T♥ board for Antonovec, sent 23.1 million chips to franco817821 and $9,812.68 to Antonovec in third place.
Chip leader toppled
franco817821 removed all challengers to Table 277. Except one. Despite starting with a 54.4 million to 21.3 million chip lead, franco817821 was not able to close out the table as tonight's champ. But, two minutes into the heads-up match piGoFF.ru would claim a 21 million chip pot after missing a flush draw, but hitting top pair on the river to pull nearly even.
Fifteen minutes later with piGoff.ru now holding a 49.6 million to 26.1 million chip lead the players would settle things post flop. With the blinds up to 600K/1.2MM ante 150K franco817821 would limp in from the button as piGoFF.ru raised to 3.4 million. franco817821 made the call as the players saw the coordinated 6♣8♦7♣ flop. After several shots at each other, all of franco817821's tournament funds were hoping on top pair 8♣T♥ to win. However, piGoFF.ru turned over an overpair of queens Q♠Q♦ which found a third lady on the turn Q♣ and avoided the straight draw on the river 4♥ to win tonight's MicroMillion 8 Event #11 title and $16,314.83!
