MicroMillions 8: Stvol911 supreme in Event #81 ($5.50 PL Omaha 6-Max)

Is there a poker format more entertaining than short-handed Pot Limit Omaha? The only way it could be any better was if there was a tournament with a tiny buy-in, big field and huge prize money up for grabs.

Enter the MicroMillions!

Event #81 of the MicroMillions 8 series brought together a field of 2,336 for some four-card fun and the last player standing was the Ukraine's Stvol911 who rose to the top and never looked back with a comprehensive victory to collect nearly two thousand dollars in prize money.

That's not a bad return for a $5.50 investment!

The event was a $5.50 Pot Limit Omaha 6-Max event with the prize pool of $11,680 more than doubling the advertised guarantee.

The top 300 players would be paid but that wouldn't include 4Umosh from Japan who bubbled in 301st place. Everyone else had locked up at least a $8.87 collect but they were all aiming for the top prize of $1,841.08.

After a little over seven hours of play, WARLOCK2911's aces were outflopped by Tiffanyposk's kings with a third king on the flop, to see the final table of six set as follows:

Final Table Line Up
Seat 1: grooverr (665,675 in chips)
Seat 2: Katsuo42 (1,492,275 in chips)
Seat 3: Jjonidis (2,051,186 in chips)
Seat 4: Tiffanyposk (2,258,909 in chips)
Seat 5: barselona009 (426,869 in chips)
Seat 6: Stvol911 (4,785,086 in chips)

With blinds starting off at 30k/60k, Stvol911 had a pretty handy chip lead with barselona009 and grooverr on the short stacks, however both were able to stick around long enough to see Katsuo42 as the first to be eliminated from the final table.

grooverr doubled through Katsuo42 with a full house against two pair, and again with pocket kings against pocket fives when both players flopped a set.

That left Katsuo42 on the short stack and all in next hand with T♦A♦J♦J♠. Tiffanyposk called in the big blind with a pretty raggedy 4♥K♠2♦3♥ and made an unlikely two pair on the board of 8♠Q♠A♣4♠3♠. Fours and threes were enough to better Katsuo42's pair of aces to leave Katsuo42 to take home $233.36 for sixth place.

barselona009 was hanging on for dear life but eventually the blinds caught hold. In a battle of the blinds, Tiffanyposk raised the pot before barselona009 moved all in for a little more. Tiffanyposk called with J♦7♠Q♠9♦ but barselona009 had a monstrous K♣A♦Q♣K♦. The flop was 7♥K♥T♠ to give barselona009 a set of kings but it all switched around on the A♣ turn as Tiffanyposk made a Broadway straight. barselona009 would need to pair the board but the 6♣ river was a brick to leave barselona009 to depart in fifth place which was worth $438.00.

The four-handed battle was a pretty tight one. Stvol911 took a nice pot from Jjonidis with a straight against two pair, but Jjonidis got those chips back, flopping trips against Tiffanyposk's two pair.

The chips were passed around the table for a few orbits before Jjonidis three-bet all in with a double-suited 3♣A♠4♣T♠ however grooverr called with a powerful A♣2♦A♦8♣. The board was spread K♣Q♣A♥T♦T♥ which did give Jjonidis a full house with tens full of aces but that wasn't quite enough as grooverr ended with aces full of tens. Jjonidis finished the tournament in fourth place and received $671.60.

With three players remaining, the idea of a potential deal was thrown on the table.

Tiffanyposk said, "deal?"
grooverr said, "let's see"
grooverr said, "stvol u want to look?"

However with well over half the chips in play, Stvol911 was unresponsive as play continued.

It would prove to be unfortunate for Tiffanyposk who was next to fall. After a raise and a call, the flop of A♦6♠5♠ provoked the action as Tiffanyposk and Stvol911 got their chips into the middle. Tiffanyposk shoved with 9♠A♠4♠T♠ for a bunch of spades with top pair, with Stvol911 showing 7♠A♣Q♠T♦ for top pair with a better kicker and a second-best flush draw. The turn was the Q♥ and the river the T♥ to give Stvol911 two pair with aces and queens to better Tiffanyposk's aces and tens. Tiffanyposk departed in third place for $992.80 in prize money.

Heads-up Chip Counts
Seat 1: grooverr (2,075,044 in chips)
Seat 6: Stvol911 (9,604,956 in chips)

grooverr said, "go deal 50x50?"
Stvol911 said, "ha-ha"
grooverr said, ":|"
Stvol911 said, ":("
grooverr said, "don't be greedy"
grooverr said, "or i win"

It was worth a shot by grooverr as Stvol911 remained stoic, but grooverr wasn't going to go down without a fight. When the two saw a flop of Q♥7♣J♦ the chips went flying with grooverr able to secure a double up with queens and jacks against Stvol911's jacks and sevens.

In fact, grooverr nudged into the chip lead for a brief moment with a second double up when Stvol911 was perhaps a little frustrated and jammed on an ace-high flop with king-high, no pair, no draw. grooverr instantly picked it off with top set of aces and suddenly it looked like grooverr was going to go all the way.

However almost just as quickly, Stvol911 was able to recover.

Another set over set situation would see Stvol911 flop a set of aces against grooverr's set of tens in a rather brutal cooler to put Stvol911 right back on top and leave grooverr in trouble.

The next hand Stvol911 raised the button before grooverr re-potted. Stvol911 called and the flop landed 2♣5♠J♠. That was good enough for grooverr to commit all in but Stvol911 made the call with 3♠4♣J♦Q♠ for top pair with straight and flush draws. grooverr showed 8♥7♦A♣7♣ and would need a lot of help to stay alive. The 6♠ turn and 9♦ would give grooverr a straight but it was too late as Stvol911 turned a flush to claim the win!

grooverr would have to settle with $1,343.20 for second place as Stvol911 takes the MicroMillions title along with $1,841.08 in prize money. Congratulations!
