MicroMillions II: carlinhos61 goes all the way in Event #90 ($1+R NLHE 3xTurbo)

micromillions-thumb-blog.pngMicroMillions II Event #90 was the $1 No Limit Holdem Rebuy 3xTurbo Event which attracted a massive 9,326 entries. Throw in an incredible 49,582 rebuys and 4,779 add-ons and we had ourselves a staggering prize pool of $57,855.17 to exceed the guarantee.

For a $1 entry fee, players had the opportunity to turn that into over $8,000 which ensured plenty of action in the early stages as players looked to build a big chip stack to go the distance.

Among the entrants today was again Team PokerStars Pro Andre "acoimbra" Coimbra who is narrowing in on the completion of his mission to play all 100 MicroMillions II events. Today was unfortunately unsuccessful for Coimbra as he fell in the middle of the pack.

The top 1,170 players would finish in the money with Canada's Redxick busting on the bubble to miss out on the $11.59 score.

The 3xTurbo format ensured the chips were flying throughout and when zalijuve had A♠9♦ rivered by the K♦8♣ of carlinhos61, zalijuve was out in 10th place as our final table lineup was set:

Final Table Lineup
Seat 1: Manezeza (17,691,150 in chips)
Seat 2: keramida (41,226,616 in chips)
Seat 3: TAUBTE´ TILT (5,223,830 in chips)
Seat 4: terreurbob (40,246,948 in chips)
Seat 5: StevenShaft (21,248,426 in chips)
Seat 6: fabcunha (58,057,415 in chips)
Seat 7: Fish Co4ch (24,649,434 in chips)
Seat 8: msllms (50,661,046 in chips)
Seat 9: carlinhos61 (61,089,135 in chips)

The final table blinds kicked off at 600k/1.2M with a 120k ante. Of course, with five minute levels, there wasn't going to be much time to settle in, as the short stacks were constantly under pressure from the rising blinds. However it was StevenShaft who was the first to get busy with a big double up against fabcunha. When the flop landed, there was always going to be fireworks:

It was the nut flush draw for fabcunha that couldn't connect to get past the set of StevenShaft who landed a nice double up.

TAUBTE´ TILT was the short stack entering the final table and was unable to find the required double up to stay in contention. TAUBTE´ TILT saw Q♥Q♣ which looked like a good spot to get some chips but ran into the K♥K♦ of keramida. The board ran out 2♣9♠J♥6♠K♣ to give keramida a set of kings and leave TAUBTE´ TILT to pocket $449.15 for 9th place.

keramida and fabcunha chopped a big pot when both players held ace-king, before Manezeza got a little over-committed with K♣Q♥ for just king-high on a jack-high board of 6♣3♠2♠J♣. Manezeza threw the last chips into the middle but carlinhos61 held top pair with J♠Q♥. The river was the 5♣ to see Manezeza eliminated in 8th place for $666.48 in prize money.

carlinhos61 was in the lead but that was changed around when fabcunha doubled through in a massive clash:

fabcunha started the hand dominated but flopped the world to double through and take the chip lead. fabcunha then went about extending that advantage with the elimination of Fish Co4ch.

The chips were in preflop with fabcunha going with A♣Q♣ but running into the K♦K♠ of Fish Co4ch. fabcunha was looking for an ace from space but the 9♣6♣J♥8♦T♦ was even better as fabcunha found a remarkable straight to leave an unlucky Fish Co4ch on the virtual rail in 7th place for $1,159.10.

StevenShaft was soon to follow after raising from early position and then calling it off with 4♠4♦. StevenShaft would've been happy enough to be racing with msllms' Q♥K♥ but fell behind when the board ran out K♠9♠Q♣9♥7♥. StevenShaft added $1,738.65 to the cashier after a fine tournament ended in 6th place.

terreurbob got into the action with after making a straight with K♠Q♠ to double through keramida's pocket sevens, but keramida was quick to recover those chips with A♣K♣ doubling through carlinhos61 who got a little loosey-goosey preflop with 7♥6♠.

The double ups continued as terreurbob and carlinhos61 both doubled up with dominant aces, before the biggest pot of the tournament unfolded when carlinhos61 and fabcunha got crazy on a flop of 6♦9♠J♦. carlinhos61 bet, fabcunha moved all in and carlinhos61 called it off with K♦9♦ for middle pair and flush draw as fabcunha was in trouble with A♦6♠ for just bottom pair. The K♣ turn and 8♥ river left carlinhos61 with the chip lead as fabcunha was now the one under pressure.

fabcunha couldn't recover and was eliminated soon after. fabcunha called bets preflop and on the flop, before check-raising all in on the turn on the board of 3♦A♥J♠8♠. fabcunha held J♣T♣ for second pair but carlinhos61 made a quick call with a powerful 8♣A♠ for two pair. The river fell the 3♠ to leave fabcunha bundled out in 5th place for $2,318.20.

keramida's run ended in 4th place in a preflop clash with the giant-killing carlinhos61. keramida shoved from under the gun with A♦5♣ and carlinhos61 called in the big blind with K♦Q♠. The board ran out Q♥A♠2♣K♠T♥ to give carlinhos61 two pair on the turn to bring the end for keramida for a $2,920.94 pay day.

carlinhos61 had more than double the chips of the opposition, but with the rapidly-rising blinds, anything was still possible.

Unfortunately for msllms, it wasn't to be. carlinhos61 raised the button before msllms moved all in holding A♣2♣. carlinhos61 made a quick call with Q♦A♠ which held through the 8♠7♥9♣5♥4♠ board. msllms was left to collect $4,346.63 for 3rd place.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 4: terreurbob (67,239,792 in chips)
Seat 9: carlinhos61 (252,854,208 in chips)

carlinhos61 held a four-to-one chip lead, but terreurbob was unlucky not to close that gap as carlinhos61 took a gamble at the title:

terreurbob held the best hand, and flopped two pair, but it still wasn't enough as carlinhos61 escaped with a chop with a straight on board.

However terreurbob wasn't deterred, flopping a set of fours shortly after and getting full value from carlinhos61 with a river raise as carlinhos61 called it off with just third pair.

Things were pretty much even, but carlinhos61 was winning the majority of pots with some preflop aggression.

The blinds were getting high when carlinhos61 raised the button to three-times the big blind. terreurbob responded with a three-bet shove for around 23 big blinds, but carlinhos61 made the call with 5♠5♣. terreurbob wasn't in bad shape, despite holding a moderate 6♦Q♥, as it was basically a coinflip situation. The board ran out 2♦T♣J♥T♦9♣ to see carlinhos61's baby pair survive to take it down. terreurbob will add $6,375.06 to the bankroll for 2nd place as carlinhos61 wins the MicroMillions II title and $8,698.65 in prize money. Not bad for a $1 buy-in tournament!
