MicroMillions II: GG to GGFML, winner of Event #59 ($3.30 NL Omaha H/L)
When the final table of Event 59 began, GGFML had such a commanding chip lead that a comeback from another player seemed unlikely. But with the ups and downs of Omaha H/L, anything was possible, and bordinho93 took advantage of that. With a few double-ups, bordinho93 became the one to beat, but GGFML stayed in line and made the right moves during heads-up play to complete the game victoriously.
It's often been said that Omaha is the new Hold'em, and the numbers that turn out for Omaha tournaments show that could be true. PLO is the usual fare when it comes to the new generation's poker game, but this MicroMillions event offered No Limit Omaha. Players have the fun of high/low split pots and the excitement of Omaha without the usual pot limit restrictions. Put a $20K guarantee on it, and we had another big tournament on our hands!
The final numbers, after 120 minutes of registration, were as follows:
Prize pool: $24,969.00
Paid players: 1,080
The money bubble burst at the 3.5-hour point of the tournament, and farrokh674 was the first player to cash out for $5.24. Hundreds of players followed over the course of the next several hours. Five tables remained at the seven-hour mark, and hand-for-hand play was on tap less than an hour later after the elimination of 4Dice4.
After a few double-ups and split pots, sponsora pushed a short stack with 2♥9♦5♠8♦ against the 2♠J♥K♦Q♠ of AndyDnay. The board came K♣Q♣9♣J♦3♣, and sponsora was out in tenth place with $137.32.
GGFML with XL lead
The final table kicked off in Level 43, with blinds of 60,000/120,000 and a 15,000 ante, and with player starting stacks as follows:
Seat 1: bordinho93 (1,674,940 in chips)
Seat 2: GGFML (15,052,898 in chips)
Seat 3: AAmeplz (2,195,887 in chips)
Seat 4: PugoGrasse (1,280,750 in chips)
Seat 5: zozoli (2,717,471 in chips)
Seat 6: XXNOMAD (4,918,523 in chips)
Seat 7: AndyDnay (5,324,410 in chips)
Seat 8: Futuramka (4,589,814 in chips)
Seat 9: Mr.Ivek (3,860,307 in chips)
PugoGrasse doubled through GGFML but remained one of the shorter stacks, along with bordinho93 and AAmeplz. The latter finally made a move with 4♦3♠2♥A♠ from the button, and original UTG raiser XXNOMAD called with 2♣A♥8♠3♦. The board blanked with 7♥K♥Q♠6♦T♠, and with no low, ace-high with the best kicker won the pot, eliminating AAmeplz in ninth place with $193.50.
Bordinho93 then doubled through GGFML, leaving PugoGrasse as the short stack. PugoGrasse soon moved all-in for 1.7 million chips with T♦A♥5♠Q♠. Zozoli came over the top all-in with J♦A♣7♦A♠, and Futuramka called both players with K♦Q♣K♠A♦. The board came 5♥7♠J♥9♣3♥, and zozoli tripled up with two pair. PugoGrasse departed in eighth place with $299.62.
Bordinho93 then doubled up again, this time into second place on the leaderboard:
Futuramka was unable to fully recover from the previous zozoli hand and soon moved all-in with 3♠4♥9♥8♠ from the big blind. Original UTG raiser Mr.Ivek called with 2♣2♠T♠A♠ and caught the high and low on the 5♦7♠2♥4♣T♥ board. Futuramka headed out in seventh place with $536.83.
Six-way deal? No problem!
A six-way tournament deal normally takes some negotiation, but this situation did not. There was a rather quick agreement from all six players to the chip-chop numbers, and with $400 set aside for the winner, those payouts were set as:
Seat 1: bordinho93 (5,949,760 in chips) = $1,714.75
Seat 2: GGFML (15,613,458 in chips) = $3,242.68
Seat 5: zozoli (5,083,942 in chips) = $1,577.85
Seat 6: XXNOMAD (2,737,030 in chips) = $1,206.78
Seat 7: AndyDnay (6,246,910 in chips) = $1,761.73
Seat 9: Mr.Ivek (5,983,900 in chips) = $1,720.14
On the first hand back in action, XXNOMAD pushed all-in from middle position with 5♦4♥3♦J♠, and bordinho93 called from the big blind with K♣2♠9♦A♦. The board produced K♦4♣A♣5♠7♦ to give bordinho93 the best two pair and the 7-5-4-2-A low, leaving XXNOMAD out in sixth place with $1,206.78.
The very next hand saw the two biggest chip stacks tangle. AndyDnay started with a raise, and GGFML reraised from the small blind. AndyDnay called all-in with Q♦9♥Q♥T♦, and GGFML showed 7♥A♣J♦7♣. The board of 5♦6♣A♦K♥8♣ gave GGFML the pair of aces and the low, and AndyDnay had to leave in fifth place with $1,761.73.
Bordinho93 takes over
Bordinho93 then scored a double-up through GGFML to take over the chip lead:
When zozoli pushed all-in, bordinho93 was there with the call holding 9♣K♣K♠Q♠. Zozoli showed 7♠7♥A♥4♦, but the board of K♦5♠6♣5♣6♥ gave bordinho93 the full house. Zozoli had to leave in fourth place with $1,577.85.
Mr.Ivek doubled through GGFML, but the latter then doubled back through the former, leaving Mr.Ivek with a very short stack. He was saved by a few split pots but then moved all-in again for 79,294 chips. Both players called anc checked the flop of 9♥K♥A♣. The K♠ turn brought a bet from GGFML and check-call from bordinho93, and the 5♠ on the river prompted another bet from GGFML and fold from bordinho93. GGFML showed 5♣3♥K♣Q♣, which beat the 5♥3♦6♦7♥ of Mr.Ivek, who exited in third place with $1,720.14.
Tight heads-up match
The final two players started their battle with these stacks:
Seat 1: bordinho93 (20,575,490 in chips)
Seat 2: GGFML (21,039,510 in chips)
A few hands into it, bordinho93 took a pot worth more than 19 million chips to take a commanding lead. However, GGFML came back with a big split pot hand and a subsequent pot worth more than 7 million. GGFML then moved all-in with the lead and J♠T♥A♠A♥. Bordinho93 called all-in for 19.3 million more chips with 9♦2♦7♦5♥. The board came K♦4♣T♠5♦Q♣ to give GGFML the straight, and with no low, bordinho93 had to accept a second place finish and $1,714.75.
GGFML won Event 59 and $3,642.68 in cash. Congrats!
