MicroMillions II: Jump for joy for jephoy77, winner of Event #15 ($5.50 FLHE Turbo)
Jephoy77 was never far behind in the chip counts at the final table, but a key double-up through the chip leader was the way to go. That double gave jephoy77 new life and put a dent in the stack of judas68. The latter then exited in fourth place, and jephoy77 began to dominate. There wasn't much time to make decisions due to the turbo structure, but everything went jephoy77's way, even down to the last hand when his 4-2 hand bested the K-Q of darihu.
It's a bit of a contrast in terms - a limit hold'em tournament in turbo format. LHE often slows a tournament, while turbo ... well ... you get the idea. But not even the limited betting slowed this event down. If you blinked, you missed several bustouts and tables being broken. Friday night, turbo poker, go go go!
Despite the $5.50 buy-in being one of the larger ones of the day, the $10K guarantee was an incentive for players to get involved, and the numbers showed the tournament's popularity:
Prize pool: $13,035.00
Paid players: 342
At the end of the first hour, registration stopped but more than 1,000 players of the total number had already busted from the event. To say that the field was thinning quickly was an understatement.
Team PokerStars Online's Andre "acoimbra" Coimbra of Portugal is keeping a diary of his MicroMillions II experiment to play each and every one of the 100 events. He played this one but exited in 1529th place. Check in with his daily diary to see what he says about this tournament.
The money bubble broke when hech123 exited in 343rd place, NumGuenta was the first player to cash for $8.60. With 10 tables remaining, the payouts were up to $20.85, and each elimination put the rest of the field closer to the big three-figure and four-figure amounts waiting at the final table.
The three-hour break showed 21 players remaining, and that number was reduced to 12 only 20 minutes later. The 11th place elimination of Rockstarr21 led to hand-for-hand play at the two remaining tables, Table 117 saw mnmz420 move all-in with A♥2♦ against the 6♣6♥ of wilkanomics. The board of 3♦T♠2♠5♠8♠ allowed the pocket pair to stand, and mnmz420 was oust in tenth place with $84.72.
At the same time, however, on Table 135, another all-in was in progress. chechegami pushed with Q♦J♠, and judas68 was along with A♠3♥ from the big blind. The board came 3♠5♦8♣K♥K♦ to give judas68 two pair, and that sent Chechegami out in ninth place with $110.79 before the final table officially began.
Final table of 8, judas68 leads
Beginning in Level 38, with blinds of 250,000/500,000, the final table showed these starting stacks for the eight players:
Seat 1: loducca00 (1,802,009 in chips)
Seat 3: TheSage92 (843,328 in chips)
Seat 4: judas68 (2,559,615 in chips)
Seat 5: wilkanomics (1,514,052 in chips)
Seat 6: darihu (2,475,328 in chips)
Seat 7: Apolo122 (1,073,442 in chips)
Seat 8: jephoy77 (1,413,222 in chips)
Seat 9: Narchtime (1,354,004 in chips)
On the very first hand of action, Narchtime doubled through Ioducca00. The latter then pushed all-in for 448,005 chips on the very next hand with A♣Q♠. Original raiser Narchtime called with T♥T♦, and that pair held up to the J♦6♣4♥2♣K♣ board. Ioducca00 was eliminated in eighth place with $189.00.
The very next hand saw TheSage92 begin with a raise, and darihu reraised from the small blind. TheSage92 reraised all-in with A♥K♣, and darihu called with T♣T♥. Those tens again held up to the board as it came 2♠7♠J♦3♣8♦, and darihu collected chips. TheSage92, on the other hand, left in seventh place with $319.35.
The eventual downfall of judas68
Apolo122 was on a short stack and doubled through wilkanomics to stay in the game, but it was jephoy77's double through judas68 that changed the top of the leaderboard:
Wilkanomics tried to recover from the earlier hit and pushed with 8♠7♦ from the big blind, but original raiser judas68 called from the small blind with K♦Q♣. The Q♦J♣3♠ flop gave judas68 the advantage, and though the 6♥ didn't help or hurt, the K♠ on the river made that into two pair. Wilkanomics had to leave in sixth place with $449.70.
Darihu and Apolo122 got involved in a hand that saw a reraised flop of 4♠5♦T♥. Apolo122 bet, and darihu raised, so Apolo122 called all-in with A♣8♣. Darihu showed Q♠J♠, which improved to top pair on the Q♣ turn. The 8♥ on the river wasn't enough to save Apolo122, who departed in fifth place with $580.05.
Judas68 was the shortest of the four remaining stacks and finally took a chance with 8♠8♣ preflop. Narchtime called with A♠A♥, however, and the aces made the best two pair on the 7♦9♦K♠K♣4♥ board. Judas68 had to go in fourth place with $762.54.
Jephoy77 jumps ahead
The final three didn't play long before a big hand developed. It started with a raise from Narchtime, reraise from jephoy77, and capped reraise from Narchtime. The flop came 6♠8♣T♠, and jephoy77 bet 400K. Narchtime reraised, and jephoy77 called. The J♠ on the turn brought another bet from jephoy77, and Narchtime called all-in with A♥K♠ for the draw. Jephoy77 showed A♠J♦ for the pair of jacks, and the T♣ on the river only made that into two pair. Narchtime was eliminated in third place with $1,107.97.
Heads-up and to the point
The battle began with these chip counts:
Seat 6: darihu (2,240,540 in chips)
Seat 8: jephoy77 (10,794,460 in chips)
The fourth hand of play saw an initial raise from jephoy77 and all-in rerase from darihu. Jephoy77 called with 4♦2♦, and darihu dominated with K♦(Qs]. But the flop came 2♣7♣7♦ for two pair for jephoy77, and the 8♠ turn and 5♥ river allowed that to stand. Darihu took second place and the $1,546.86 that went with it.
Jephoy77 of the Philippines won the MicroMillions title and $2,061.32 in cash. Congrats!
