MicroMillions II: JyMaster1 slays giants, wins Event #33 ($2.20+R NLHE 2x-Turbo)

micromillions-thumb-blog.png$17,000 and change? That's more akin to a Sunday Million final table payout than the top prize in a $2 rebuy tournament. But this is the MicroMillions, folks, where a single $2 bullet can be parlayed into a 892,500% ROI. All it takes it beating out a field that could fill your local basketball arena.

Event #33's 17,444 players made 48,312 rebuys and 10,520 add-ons, taking the prize pool up to $152,552.00. 2,250 places were paid with first place set to earn $17,852.55. Flying the flag for Team Pro and Team Online were Dag Palovic, Henrique Pinho, Kevin "WizardOfAhhs" Thurman, Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome, Shane "shaniac" Schleger and Martin Hruby. The lone Red Spade to make the money was MicroMillions Ironman Andre Coimbra, who cashed in 915th place.

Blinds were up to 1.05M/2.1M with ten players remaining. Crippled in an earlier hand when A♥8♥ couldn't improve against Eeseliia's A♦Q♦, zzzz65's last 55,000 went in on the ante. BAZON-dima and MarklinS1 limped in from the blinds, BAZON-dima leading out for 2.1 million on the 9♠6♣5♥ flop. MarklinS1 gave it up and BAZON-dima turned up 8♠9♣ for top pair. Zzzz65 was drawing extremely thin with T♥2♣ and didn't get there, exiting on the final table bubble.

Final table chip counts:

curacao7.11 can't fade JyMaster1, inittowinit0 doubles

Micro-stacked curacao7.11 was all-in from the big blind on the fourth hand of the final table. JyMaster1 picked up A♦Q♦ and shoved for 19 million from early position, folding out the rest of the field. Curacao7.11 turned up 4♠9♣ and saw his hopes of a miracle double-up fade as an ace hit the flop. For his ninth-place finish, curacao7.11 collected $915.31.

Curacao7.11's elimination left inittowinit0 as the table short stack. Holding only three big blinds, inittowinit0 shoved from UTG+1 and was called by BAZON-dima and JyMaster1. JyMaster check-folded to BAZON-dima's 9.6 million bet on the T♣8♦3♠ flop, the chip leader turning up A♥K♠ for the nut no pair. Inittowinit0 showed pocket sevens and hung on through the turn and river to triple up to 25.4 million.

boss0218 falls to bigpat60, Eeseliia doubles

Boss0218 staked the last of his stack on A♦8♣, open-shoving from early position. Bigpat60 called with Q♣6♦ in the big blind. Although bigpat60 sucked out with a six on the flop, boss0218 retook the lead when an ace hit the turn. The river, however, was a cruel, cruel queen, giving bigpat60 the suck-resuck and the win. For eighth place, boss0218 banked $1,372.96.

Eeseliia was the next to make a move, shoving for 13 million (5.5 big blinds) from the cutoff. Bigpat60 called with K♥J♠ in the big blind, but was dominated by Eeseliia's A♣K♦. Eeseliia flopped an ace and pulled himself out of the danger zone, doubling to 31.3 million.

Massive double-KO for bigpat60

The hand started off innocently enough, MarklinS1 open-shoving for his last 2.5 big blinds. MatejK992SLO flat-called, only to have Eeseliia reshove behind him for 20.1 million. JyMaster1 folded the small blind and bigpat60 snap-shoved from the small blind for 62 million, having the entire table covered. MatejK992SLO sensibly got out of the way and the cards went on their backs:

MarklinS1 6♠6♦
Eeseliia Q♣Q♥
bigpat60 A♦A♥

Bigpat60 not only picked up the right hand at the right time, but he hit top set on the flop and boated up on the river to rake in the 56.5 million pot. MarklinS1 exited in seventh place, earning $2,593.38 while Eeseliia took home $3,813.80 for sixth.

JyMaster1 doubles through BAZON-dima

Bigpat60 held 98.6 million in chips going into five-handed play, BAZON-dima his closest competition with 60.9 million. The action folded to MatejK992SLO in the small blind and he shoved for 42 million with K♦5♠. Unfortunately for him, JyMaster1 had a calling hand and put the rest of his chips in with A♦9♣. JyMaster1 made top two pair on the flop and doubled to 34 million.

Inittowinit0 also scored a double-up during five-handed play, open-shoving for 8.1 million with K♥Q♥. Bigpat60 made a loose call from the big blind with K♠7♠ and did not improve, inittowinit0 raking in the 19.5 million pot.

JyMaster1 KOs two, becomes a contender

Moments later, MatejK992SLO once against shoved from the small blind and JyMaster1 once again found A♣9♣ in the big blind. MatejK992SLO's turned over A♥5♦ and although both players flopped an ace, MatejK992SLO was in kicker trouble, the board running out A♠K♣7♦T♠2♠ to end his run in fifth place. MatejK992SLO scored $5,339.32 for his finish.

Now a real contender with nearly 60 million in chips, JyMaster1 added to his growing stack a few hands later when he finished off inittowinit0. Bigpat60 came along for the ride as well, but folded to JyMaster1's turn bet. Although inittowinit0 rivered a set of sevens, JyMaster1 had turned a queen-high straight to send him to the rail in fourth place:

JyMaster1 sinks bigpat60 with a stunning river card

Down to three players, the blinds were up to 1.8M/3.6M. JyMaster1 held the lead with 96.5 million, bigpat60 was close behind with 93.2 million and BAZON-dima was the short stack with 47 million. In perhaps the hand of the tournament, bigpat60 opened for a min-raise on the button and JyMaster1 called from the big blind. JyMaster1 check-called 6.9 million on the 8♥7♥5♥ flop, then shoved for his remaining 82 million when the Q♦ hit the turn. Bigpat60 called, JyMaster1 having him slightly covered. Bigpat60 turned up K♥9♥, having flopped the second-nut flush, while JyMaster1 shoved 7♠7♣ for a set. Lo and behold, the board paired queens on the river and JyMaster1 pulled in the monster pot, leaving a stunned bigpat60 on the rail in third place.

Heads-up chip counts:

Seat 5: JyMaster1 (191,908,669 in chips)
Seat 9: BAZON-dima (44,803,331 in chips)

BAZON-dima quickly scored a double-up, his 7♦8♦ turning a pair of sevens against JyMaster1's unimproved A♦5♥. Now armed with 101 million in chips, BAZON-dima had enough ammo to make this a fair fight, but JyMaster1 had other ideas. Five hands later, the German closed it out, calling BAZON-dima's bluff-shove with A♣2♠. JyMaster1 flopped bottom pair and BAZON-dima never improved:

Congratulations to JyMaster1 on an incredible comeback. He earned $17,852.55 for the win while runner-up BAZON-dima banked $12,966.92.
