MicroMillions III: gejus glimmers in Event #58 ($2.20+R NLHE Big Antes, 2x-Turbo)
Think yesterday's Ante Up tournaments were pretty nuts? Big Antes were on today's slate of events. While Ante Up creates huge preflop pots via static blinds and giant antes for every player, in Big Antes the blinds go up as they usually do, but there's the added element of a super-sized ante (equivalent to one-fifth of a big blind) to juice the action. These massive pots bred huge swings and despite starting the final table as one of the shorter stacks, Lithuania's gejus quickly doubled through both big stacks and went all the way, winning a MicroMillions title and over $14,000.
12,077 players came out for Event #58 and made 33,080 rebuys and 7,104 add-ons to bring the prize pool up to $104,522. 1,530 places were paid, with first place set to earn $14,564.94. A quartet of Red Spades joined the field including Christophe De Meulder, Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz, Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen, with Team Pro Marcin Horecki making his 17th cash of the series in 1,270th place. A former MicroMillions Player of the Series, Horecki is making another run at the top of the leaderboard and is currently in a three-way tie for 12th place.
Molari448 surged into the chip lead with two tables remaining, knocking out three opponents on a single hand. With the blinds at 400,000/800,000 with a 160,000 ante, goofy1221 was all-in from the small blind. Micro-stacked ChrisErix shoved for 1.08 million from UTG, vukkk raised to 1.83 million, molari448 four-bet to 9.6 million, and vukkk called all-in for 4.4 million.
ChrisErix hit an ace on the flop, but molari448 caught right back up on the turn, spiking the K♥ to make a set. Molari448 won the main pot and both side pots, 15.8 million in all to eliminate goofy1221 (18th)m ChrisErix (17th), and vukkk (16th) in one fell swoop.
Blinds were 600,000/1,200,000 with a 240,000 ante on the final table bubble and bigjimmo put in his last 1.44 million from UTG. Both JahGringo1 and molari448 called from the blinds and checked down the J♥6♣5♠9♣7♦ board on the flop and turn. JahGringo1 led out for 3.6 million on the river and molari448 called, JahGringo1 revealing 6♠8♥ for a nine-high straight. JahGringo1 scooped the pot and bigjimmo was eliminated in tenth place, setting the final table.

blueskyyM hits turbulence
Short-stacked danner77 was fortunate enough to pick up pocket queens and open-shoved for his remaining 6.3 million. BlueskyyM called from the small blind with A♦6♦, but did not improve, more than doubling danner77 to 16.5 million. BlueskyyM took another hit when he picked up pocket nines and three-bet shoved for 32.3 million over gejus's 7 million opening raise. Gejus snap-called with A♥A♦ and blueskyyM was left with 18.2 million, less than half the stack he brought to the final table.
BlueskyyM's luck turned, however, when he open-shoved with A♦7♠ and ivv1 called all-in for 9.2 million with A♣Q♠. BlueskyyM flopped a seven and turned trips, the river queen too little too late for ivv1. For ninth place, ivv1 took home $658.48.
From eight to four in seven hands
On the next hand, FranckBlood put his last 805,000 in against gejus with A♥4♠, but gejus's Q♦2♦ rivered a flush to end his run in eighth. The hand after that saw gejus double though OSL2012 with A♦Q♣ vs. A♠3♦ when both players flopped top pair. Gejus doubled and took a massive chip lead with 65 million. Left with 8.5 million, OSL2012 moved all-in with A♠2♠ two hands later, but couldn't fade blueskyyM's A♥9♥ and exited in seventh.
Next to bust was molari448, he of the insane triple-elimination with 18 to go. Molari448 bluffed the turn and river with king-high, but gejus rivered an ace-high flush to send him home in sixth place:
The bustouts didn't stop for even one hand, as nniiccooBA open-shoved for 14.3 million from UTG and JahGringo1 called all-in for 6.4 million from the big blind. NniiccooBA's A♦J♣ rivered a full house against JahGringo1's Q♥9♥, the board running out 7♠6♥6♠A♠6♦ to eliminate him in fifth place.
danner77 double-doubles, blueskyyM falls
Players took a two-hand breather before another tournament life was put at risk. With the action folded to danner77 in the small blind, he moved in for 10.3 million with Q♦3♥, but gejus looked him up with A♠3♦. Gejus's dominating hand, however, was undone by the Q♥T♠9♥ flop, danner77 flopping top pair. The turn was the 5♣ and the board paired tens on the river, doubling danner77 to 22.7 million. Minutes later, gejus and danner77 clashed again, the latter earning a second double-up when A♦T♥ held up against Q♠K♣.
Two hands later, it was nniiccooBA's turn. He open-shoved 20.7 million from the small blind with A♠4♣ and blueskyyM called with K♦J♣ in the big. NniiccooBA flopped an ace and turned aces up to double to 43.4 million, leaving blueskyyM on only 9.6 million. NniiccooBA finished off blueskyyM in fourth place a few hands later, picking up A♣A♠ when blueskyyM was all-in for his last two big blinds with 3♠T♥.
danner77 dusts nniiccooBA
Blinds were an astronomical 1.5M/3M with a 600,000 ante as play turned three-handed. NniiccooBA was out in front with 65.3 million, gejus was close behind with 58.7 million and danner77 was the short stack with 37.3 million. Gejus snagged the chip lead from nniiccooBA when the two clashed in a 25.8 million pot, gejus successfully value-betting his two pair to move up to over 80 million:
Danner77 picked up a couple of pots on the flop to chip up to 65.5 million, relegating nniiccooBA to short-stack status with 33.5 million. NniiccooBA moved in for his last 11BB with A♠7♠, but danner77's hot run continued. Danner77 called with A♥Q♣ in the big blind and flopped a queen, ending nniiccooBA's run in third place.
Heads-up chip counts
Seat 4: danner77 (99,655,569 in chips)
Seat 6: gejus (61,698,431 in chips)
Danner77 won the first three heads-up pots to move out to 118 million in chips. At the hourly break, with the blidns set to increase to 2M/4M with an 800,000 ante, danner77 asked gejus if he wanted to make a deal. Gejus, however, did not respond. Immediately after the action resumed, gejus open-shoved for 42.5 million with A♠J♦ and danner77 called with K♠Q♥. It looked like it might be over when the flop fell K♦Q♣3♦, but gejus turned the A♦ and rivered the 8♦ to snap off danner77's two pair with a rivered flush. Gejus took the lead with 86.8 million, while danner77 was left with 74.5 million.
Moments later, gejus picked up 7♣7♦and opened for a 3x-raise to 12 million. Danner77 shoved for 80.5 million with A♦4♦ and gejus called, his sevens holding up to win him the massive 159.9 million pot:
Danner77 was crippled, left with less than a small blind. Although danner77 doubled to 2.7 million on the next hand with pocket kings (where were those a minute ago?), gejus locked up a win on the following one, his K♦2♠ holding up against danner77's 3♠5♦.
Congratulations to gejus on a stunning victory and a MicroMillions title. He picked up $14,546.94 for the win while runner-up danner77 earned $10.452.20.
