MicroMillions III: Kareke151 crushes Event #51 ($2.20+R NLHE Ante Up, 2x-Turbo)

When it comes to no-limit hold'em, Ante Up is a whole different animal. While the blinds hold steady at 5/5, every player pays a sizable ante on each hand. Pre-flop play turns rather creative with so many chips already out there. People play more hands and almost everyone limps in before a back-raise thins the field. And in this Ante Up event, those antes were rising at turbo speed. It took less than seven hours to find a winner in this super-sized field, Kazakstan's Kareke151 making a very nice run to finish first for over $12,000.

Event #51 drew 11,696 players, their 27,968 rebuys and 6,249 add-ons driving the prize pool up to $91,826. 1,530 places were paid out with first place set to earn $12,780.72. Team Pros Andre Akkari and Marcin Horecki joined the field, and Horecki was the only Red Spade to cash, finishing in 292nd place.

With ten players remaining, antes were a staggering 400,000 each. Chip leader Kareke151 opened for 517,650, BBlackkk three-bet to 1.93 million and pica75 cold-called from the big blind. Kareke151 came along as well and they went three ways to a T♦T♠8♦ flop. Pica75 completed the stop-n-go, moving all-in for 5.71 million and while it was enough to shake Kareke151, BBlackkk called, revealing 8♠9♠. BBlackkk's two pair filled up on the turn with the 8♣ and pica75's run came to an end on the final table bubble.

Two outed

Nine-handed once more and the antes up to half a million, there was 4.5 million already in the pot before the cards were dealt. Eggzibah was one of two players starting the final table with less than the size of the pot in their stack and although he found an early double-up through BBlackkk, wasn't able to hang on much longer. After BBlackkk opened for 1.78 million and Kareke151 called, eggzibah put the squeeze on, three-bet shoving for 7.2 million. BBlackkk folded and Kareke151 called, turning over K♠Q♦. Although eggzibah had the dominating hand with A♦Q♥ and made top pair, top kicker on the Q♣8♦2♦ flop, Kareke151 hit a three-outer on the river, the K♥ falling to send eggzibah to the rail in ninth place.

Eggzibah wasn't the only one dealt an excruciating river card. BUISO was poised to knock out superpens69, his A♥K♥ holding with the nut flush draw to boot on a J♥8♥7♣3♦ board against A♣Q♣. Only a non-heart queen could save superpens69 and trailed by rainbows and the voices of heavenly angels, the Q♠ fell. Superpens69 doubled to 21.8 million and was suddenly a contender, while BIUSO fell to 2.3 million.

Everybody double!

BIUSO got off life support when he doubled through **X-Ra̎yU**, his J♦T♥ flopping two pair against A♠9♥. However, BIUSO was quickly back on the ropes when vitinha666 snapped off his pocket queens with A♣3♥. BIUSO doubled back up through superpens69...superpens69 doubled through BBlackkk... 2Lauri7 doubled through Kareke151. Chips flew around the table, the antes were twice the size they were to start the final table, and no one wanted to be the next to go out.

Those honors had to go to someone, and that someone was vitinha666. Down to 2 million vintinha666 open-shoved and BIUSO successfully isolated with a reshove for 14.2 million, turning over A♣Q♦. Vintinha666 was in trouble with A♥3♣ and did not improve, exiting in eighth place.

Now we're moving

Though the 800,000 antes certainly played a role, vintinha666's elimination went a long way to loosen up the table. A few hands later, **X-Ra̎yU** bluffed all-in for 1.7 million on a Q♣5♣3♥ flop with J♠T♦ and BBlackkk called. BBlackkk's A♥2♠ held up and **X-Ra̎yU** was eliminated in seventh place.

Minutes later and the antes up to a million, cRkRaideRzR open-shoved for 6.93 million with A♦2♦ and Kareke151 called with 3♠3♥ on the button. Kareke151 flopped a set and turned a full house, sending cRkRaideRzR home in sixth. Three hands later it was 2Lauri7's turn to three-bet shove, this time with Q♥Q♠ against BBlackkk's A♣J♥. 2Lauri7's queens held up through the turn, but BBlackkk spiked an ace on the river to eliminate her in fifth place.

BBlackkk busts superpens69 and BIUSO

After doubling to 35 million with A♥8♠ against Kareke151's T♣8♦, superpens69 had the potential to challenge chip giants Kareke151 and BBlackkk, but ended up busting in fourth place. All four players limped in (limped!) and saw a A♦T♦2♣ flop. Superpens69 led out for 1.1 million and only BBlackkk called. Superpens69 fired another 3.8 million on the 5♣ turn and once again, BBlackkk called. The river brought the 2♠ and superpens69 shoved for his remaining 11.8 million. BBlackkk called with T♠2♦ for a full house, snapping off superpens69's A♠7♠. For fourth place, superpens69 picked up $4,591.30.

A sapling between two redwoods, BIUSO made his last stand as the antes moved up to 1.5 million. BIUSO open-shoved 17.7 million with K♦9♥ and BBlackkk called with A♥Q♣. It was all over on the turn, the board running out 7♠3♣5♣A♣K♣ to give BBlackkk the nut flush. BIUSO departed in third place, banking $6,427.82.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 5: BBlackkk (75,449,310 in chips)
Seat 6: Kareke151 (66,368,690 in chips)

BBlackkk chipped up to 84.2 million before a game-changing pot unfolded. BBlackkk three-bet very light preflop and fired on three streets despite missing the board entirely. With two overs and a flush draw that made top pair on the river, Kareke151 called him down:

BBlackkk doubled back up when his A♥7♦ held against 5♥9♦, but was never able to fully recover. On a A♣J♥4♠ flop, BBlackkk, holding pocket tens, led out for 3.2 million. Kareke151 called. BBlackkk slowed down and check-called 4.54 million on the 8♦ turn, then checked the 2♠ on the river. Kareke151 shoved for 38.1 million and BBlackkk called, only to watch Kareke151 roll over 2♦4♦, locking up the win with two pair.

Congratulations to Kareke151, our newest MicroMillions champion. He scored $12,780.22 for the win while runner-up BBlackkk banked $9,182.60.
